Overwatch’s loot box system is Blizzard’s true masterpiece

It’s been barely a week since Blizzard dropped its Overwatch anniversary event, and dedicated players have already started obsessing over how to collect as much as possible and maximize their time...

Not it isnt, its a piece of crap system that abuses ppl

But it seems that for you being abused is part of the course...

JayPi33276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Amen, the writer seems to love the abuse. Personally i'd prefer it 1 or 2 ways to unlock items.

1. Unlock items at a certain level. This way you're not lvl ranked 100+ still getting the skins you got rank 1.

2. Directly be able to pay for the items if you're not patient enough to just put in time for the game, as long as it's cosmetic it doesn't matter what you blow your cash on.

3. Just not let me unlock items I already have, it seems like they only keep giving us items we already have to pad out continual play, but honestly if the game is THAT good then people will keep on playing anyway.

Can't you pay the coins to get skins? I've only played this game for a while, but I was under that impression.

An mp only game for $60 with micros emanating from these loot boxes. Hmm...

Thiis assuredly hasn't set back the industry's fight against shady financial schemes. For me, it seems that micros are only bad when the game isn't great. I2 just released and added an entire gear system in order to offer these loot boxes. ESO recently offered them. These are believed franchise s and IPs that are given a pass because we love them...

And then we rail against f2p games that offer similar pay schemes. I'd rather pay $80,$40,$20 for games, depending upon a myriad of factors. Is it triple AAA? Does it offer enough content? Is it replayable etc? We pay a fixed price and everything else, except dlc is included.

Unfortunately, companies have used our unwillingness to pay more than $60 to find alternative ways to raise the price, and found that they can make SO MUCH MORE this way! So, it isn't gonna change any time soon! And we have insanely popular games, and Overwatch is a phenomenal game, like this to thank for it!

60€ with 30+maps, to many diferente types of gameplay, free dlcs like maps heroes, skins etc? the Mp is one of the best all time, for me is the most rentable game i play, to much contente for free, this month is 4 maps free and more skins etc...

Hey man, I don't want to sound like some grammar Nazi douche, but the term is "par for the course". Not to be an asshole, I thought you might find it handy to know! :)

(I don't know why that still reads sarcastically...it really isn't!)

Relientk773276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

Oh yea I love getting random rewards like voice quotes and costumes for characters I don't even use

gangsta_red3276d ago

Lol, the same way I feel about Injustice.

The loot box system is pretty much like gambling in Vegas. They keep you playing by dangling a couple of wins every now and then and you get hooked.

InKnight7s3276d ago

It suppose to be sarcastic! No one like the annoying rate of drops.

MonChiChi3275d ago

I have better drops from normal boxes than I do with this anniversary crap. Every box is 1 blue and all grays. luckily i had just enough coins to buy one outfit. I don't understand why they cant give is a way to make more coins via playing matches, rather than just getting lucky with a box or getting dupes. I guess I do understand from their side, it's more money for them but JFC.

EazyC3275d ago

It's all cosmetic so I'm not too fussed to be completely honest. I would prefer proper customisation any day, but this isn't bad, all things considered.

UCForce3275d ago

The Overwatch loot box system is like gambling system which I find is annoying.

Nintendo Switch 2 Drops Must-Play Free FPS You Can Enjoy From Today

In 2023, developed by Blizzard Entertainment, Overwatch 2 was released, which was basically a big, glorified update of the original game that launched in 2016. Now, it’s simply reverted to being called just Overwatch, which is probably for the best.

The second iteration of Overwatch was released on the original Nintendo Switch, and while it’s still an enjoyable game with cross-play/progression functions, it’s still lacking in terms of performance and visuals, compared to its PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S counterparts. Well, it was.

As of today, the second iteration of Overwatch is natively available on the Nintendo Switch 2, just in time for Season 2: Summit.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Overwatch will have increased resolution both in handheld and docked modes, enhanced textures and lighting, up to 60 frames-per second, improved audio and more.

Blizzard is readying a patch to address the issue that the game is still running in Switch 1 build and just 30 fps.

Neonridr36d ago

you'd think they'd test it before pushing it live, lol.

that being said, clearly it's not running as intended.

repsahj36d ago

They know it for sure. Maybe they didn't finish optimizing the game by the targeted release date. That's why they released the Switch 1 30fps version first. XD
