The Wii U was a Nintendo console that failed to garner mainstream success when compared to the stellar numbers of the Wii. The Nintendo Wii sold over 100 million units and came at a cheaper price point, introduced motion controls, and is one of the most accessible consoles to date. The Wii U introduced a touch screen tablet like controller, backwards compatibility with Wii, NFC, and allowed games to be played on the tablet or on a TV. The console never caught on and will be remembered as a black mark on Nintendo's history, but will be remembered for having a stellar catalog of games. The Wii U will most likely live on as a nostalgic console that a select few loved, like the Sega Dreamcast. Let us take a look at Wii U's life cycle from its E3 reveal to the revelation of the Nintendo Switch; which is on a better track to outsell Wii U's lifetime sales.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

What is a Nintendo switch? You mean the machine that comes with the new zelda game? Or the 3ds emulator with games from 5 years ago?
The Switch is a Wii U, 3DS, and Vita in one console. It's going to be a JRPG powerhouse in the next few years. Once that Pokemon bundle drops, I'm buying it.
Every positive Switch relate articles and comparing to Wii u aprove that Switch is just a Wii U pro
Great device just needs games like most machines at launch. Hopefully they have a lot to show this year amd not just kid stuff
Like doing better than the wiiu is such a huge achievement... Still be relevant after this holiday season with huge first partys that werent part of the wiiu's backlog and we'll talk. Otherwise, after 2 or 3 years the switch will not do much better than its littler brother. A gaming platform cannot survive on first partys, indies, and third partys most people outside nintendo fans could care less for... Thats roughly +90% of games that can be played elsewhere that will never be on the switch... Id love for them to prove me wrong. Still waiting
