When did local multiplayer need saving
Uh Nintendo been doing local multiplayer every generation.
They gave us a lot with Wii U but people complained and wanted online shoved into games that wouldn't benefit it.
Nothing can save Local MP. It is not the same anymore. Adults rather hang out outside or have some beers rather than play Video Games. Not only that but why would anyone go to a friend's house after coming from work or doing other activities? Better just play online and voice chat
Last time I had local MP with some friends from NY playing Sm4sh it felt really weird and they got bored fast. Maybe some kids of today or families may enjoy it casually, but it is not the same anymore. Online has taken over
