Known for creating the Hitman franchise, as well as Freedom Fighters and Kane & Lynch, IO Interactive are veterans of the industry. As a subsidiary of Square Enix, the two have gone hand-in-hand since Edios Interactive (IO’s parent company) were bought out by Square in 2009.

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."

Today, Koei Tecmo announced its financial results for the full fiscal year 2025, related to the period between April 2025 and March 2026.
because that SE has the IP it probably means we won't see another HITMAN ever unless another team develops it but that won't be the same.
Here's hoping SE sells IO's IPs with them. Go on and sell Crystal Dynamics and Eidos while you're at it. Release them already.
SquareEnix sucks to the nth degree. Everything they've touched turns to s**t.
Well shit guess that puts season 2 of Hitman in jeopardy. I hope if IO interactive no longer have rights to the IP they at least create a Hitman spiritual successor in an episodic format.
I haven't picked up Hitman yet, mostly because of the episodic releases, so been waiting a bit for for the physical edition to hit 25-30 bucks.
That said, by all accounts, the new Hitman is a great game, and I'm looking forward to playing it, so this is disappointing news.
Neither Absolution or Hitman 2016 came close to being like Blood Money. Far too many crutches to fall back on, mechanics that once upon of time would have been called cheats, and apart from the visuals changing - the mechanics in most missions were the same. They keep trying to make what has always been a niche game into a blockbuster franchise, and it's never going to happen while they're trying to please two VERY polarising audiences.
At this point it's hard to care. Until it goes to a competent developer that improves upon Blood Money (rather than removing many features, adding episodic content etc) - then good riddance.
