Intel's latest generation of CPUs improve upon their last-generation predecessors. Released in early 2017, Intel's Core i7 7th Generation of unlocked SKUs are running at uncomfortable temperatures. Intel offered an official statement.

Ryzen marketshare over 9000

Erik73573308d ago (Edited 3308d ago )

It's true too, their earning were disappointing very disappointing in most recent earnings report and the stock plummeted.

Though I would still invest in them after that crash not because of the stupid Ryzen but the GPU market is expanding and you have databases and smart cars to drive growth. Its also pretty cheap now , maybe it could go down a little more but its a good pick.

Still time for oem manufacturers to sweep in. Q3 could poise strong and recover

kevnb3308d ago

what a silly blog, people are saying their processors are running hot and intel says to not overclock them.. who would have thought. Those forum goers are probably using stock coolers and its much easier for someone at intel to just tell them to stop overclocking rather than buy a better cooler.

CP_Company3308d ago

and i though that intel cpus comes without coolers, good for you that you get some stock miracle coolers with those cpu :D and yes,you buy cpu K which in for overclockers, but you can't overclock it says intel :D

Allsystemgamer3308d ago

It comes with a stock cooler which isn't built for overclocking.

Same way muscle cars don't come with racing tires.

Only the "K" and the "X" chips (eg i7-7700K) are unlocked so you are allowed to overclock them although Intel does give the chips recommended clock speeds (one normal and the other overclocked). These chips don't come with a heatsink since it is up to you to purchase one.

Obviously, if you overclock and exceed the recommended maximum clock speed you do stand a good chance of CPU failure although Intel does have a very good thermal cutout in all their chips. One very important thing to watch when overclocking is the CPU temperatures since all cores should be a few degree Celsius of each other. If your CPU temperatures start to approach the maximum rating of the chip then you should consider replacing your thermal paste or possibly your heat sink.

Whether you have a locked or unlocked Intel CPU you should always monitor your core temperatures especially if you run some software you know that will tax your system for the first time.

My i7 7700k has a noctua heat sink on it. Mines over locked to 4.6 and temps remain stupidly low. Love that heat sink!

Evilryusam3308d ago

Um.... K series CPU's don't even come with stock heat sinks.

3308d ago
SinisterKieran3308d ago

the what is the point in the K?
might as well get one that isn't unlocked.

Allsystemgamer3308d ago

Or put a heat sink on it like you're supposed to if you overclock.......

Tzuno3308d ago

Hey Intel this is a K cpu made with overclock in mind, next time use a better tim ok you greedy people.

Taero3308d ago

Next time add a heat sink ...

cartoonx13308d ago

they did a poor job on ihs itself. deliding 7700k can do wonders, a 4.7ghz is stable with ~80c temps in a laptop if delid. but yea the stock 7700k has horrible temps.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing27d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9227d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit27d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing27d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9227d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
