Amazon Game Studious just sent me (Robin Ek, TGG) the following message:

Amazon bought Double Helix (Killer Instinct / Strider) what have they done with all that great talent? i haven't seen ANYTHING worthwhile since they got bought by Amazon.

UltraNova3322d ago

Who knows what's in Bezos mind...the dude is far ahead in terms of planning/expanding, so we shall have to wait and see what his game studio will produce.

rando 3322d ago

@ UltraNova: Amazon bought Double Helix in 2014... its halfway through 2017. Amazon has other studios & have been acquiring talent for awhile before that. we should've at least heard SOMETHING by now.... but we've heard nothing. to me that says Double Helix & the talent there are relegated to making iOS quality app games for the Amazon Fire TV that nobody will ever hear about or care about. Microsoft were foolish for not buying Double Helix after making not one but TWO great reboots of classic franchises, in Killer Instinct & Strider.

Yeah that seems about right..if they had any AAA games in the pipeline we would knlw by now. It seems iOS/android is their focus, at least for now.

TGG_overlord3322d ago

I could always ask them? ;)

TGG_overlord3322d ago

That's what I thought about when I heard this...

quent3321d ago

them taking so long to Announce anything could be a good sign, proper games needs a lot more planning and time in development then those F2P mobile games which would only take months to get out the door

So fingers crossed for something more substantial

@UltraNova "Yeah that seems about right..if they had any AAA games in the pipeline we would knlw by now. It seems iOS/android is their focus, at least for now."

- I sure hope not, because I'm a PC Gamer myself.

UltraNova3321d ago

Console player here but I wouldn't hold my breath my friend...

TGG_overlord3321d ago

Ah, well, time will tell ;) Me, I would like to see a game that's a mix of Burnout and Need for speed.

SaveFerris3321d ago

Shouldn't Amazon Games Studios be hard at work creating AAA games with Lumberyard?

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing39d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9239d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit39d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing39d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9239d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
