Don't tell me how to spend my money. Pre-ordering has no *ucking effect on the outcome of a game nor are you locked innto buying the game and if you are for whatever reason just don't open it and take it back.

I pre ordered Persona 5 and the game is one of the best games I've played in a while. I also pre ordered Horizon Zero Dawn and *gasp* that's a good game, too.

Just because you're bitter over the way a game came out doesn't mean everyone felt the same way. The pre ordering has nothing to do with the development of the game. You're talking about sales. Even if I bought the game 3 months after it released it'll still be the same damn game.

So, no, I'll keep on pre ordering what I want because I'm a consumer that can do what I want with my money.

Pre orders made sense a long time ago. When you wouldn't be able to get the game if you didnt pre order.
Now its simply premature. You shouldn't pre order. Its a waste of money. Just go and buy it the day it releases as you normally would anyways to go pick up the game.

If you buy digital it makes even less sense. Digital doesn't run out.

Its more of a pyschological consumer issue. Something about immediate gratification and in this case owning something ahead of time.

They do still make sense for limited editions of course. And new consoles.

I get digital games early sometimes, simply to avoid waiting for it to download on release day.

Stop the pre order bonuses more like. Why should someone gain extra content waiting in a cyber que when some of us choose to buy in the store on the day?

Cool , i am about to pre-order PREY at GAMESTOP and put only 5 dollars down because i enjoyed playing the Demo . But will wait 3 or 5 days to pick up game after release date this Friday . Will watch 'Giant Bombs' QUICK LOOK before i purchase PREY . If i like what i see, then i will purchase PREY .

I preorder simply to ensure that I don't waste my time. I've had it happen to me several times, where a high profile game comes out, I go to get a copy (didn't preorder) only to have the clerk tell me "sorry, you should've preordered to guarantee yourself a copy" Now I'm running all over LA to find a stupid copy. Which if you've ever been to LA, you know you're not running around anywhere. More like crawling. TRAFFIC! Only to find out the really hard way, that nobody's got it. HOURS wasted. Lesson learned. Preordering = saving time. Also, I'll do what I want with my money. I suggest everyone else do the same.

I agree with this fully. You might lose the magic of discovering the game for yourself, but the lack of disappointment is worth it.

Amazon is the only place I'll pre-order games since they offer them at a cheaper price (at least with prime). Then again, I'll only pre-order if the game has at least a demo or beta so I can test the game out before buying. I'm on a budget, I don't have time, money, and patience to waste on trash.

Gamers as a whole seem to like Microtransactions and pre order bonuses. Shame, gaming could be cheaper and more fun without them. The days where you can feasibly unlock everything in a game on your own are over.

Last game I preordered was duke nukem forever. To this day still have not preordered any other game and it has saved me a lot of money.

I pre-order, simply because I get 20% off via Prime. Good way to save some extra cash.

Plus, the last two titles I pre-ordered were Persona 5 and Breath of the Wild. Pretty safe bets.

It comes down to judgement. I pre-order games (after doing my fair share of research - for the extra goodies) and it's rare that I feel robbed. I can think of 2-3 instances where I was burned, and I don't pre-order from those franchises anymore (life lesson learned).

While it's easy to say "Don't pre-order in general" there's the fact that, a lot of people just want a deal, be it with the extra content, or a pre-order discount on the overall game (it happens).

Games have a tendency of releasing with bugs, in some cases ones that break the experience/immersion or make the overall game unplayable. Studios with a heart/sense of mind, will do their best to make it up to the gamer and fix what's broken. Those that don't care (focus on profit rather than goodwill) are on my "never trust" list.

However I do think that for those with a backlog, the smartest decision is to just wait all together and buy the game when it's lower in price / a full edition (to the games that apply). Those are the true victors in the gaming culture. This also applies to people who hate the pre-order trend. It does give way to games being less polished, but if you yourself know that, then you can wait, right? Your patience ultimately rewards you, and for the early adopters, they are happy with being just that, an early adopter.

I dont typically preorder a game, but I make a lot of money and its nobody's business what I choose to do with it. Thank you , but stfu.

Preordering is a disease that needs a cure quickly. I only see two ways this can be remedied, either gamers will keep preordering broken and unfinished games that the video game industry will see it's 2nd collapse in North America and it's 1st in the rest of the world. Or we can smarten up and quit preordering cold turkey and let the AAA video game giants loose some money and start feeling pressured into changing their nefarious ways.

Unfortunately i don't feel too confident that we gamers as a whole are able to stop preordering games. I personally have stopped unless it's a limited edition game that i am positive i will like, but the average regular game i just wait till release and i have already saved a ton of money on shitty games. We used to preoder games back in the day because there was a chance it would be out of stock. We don't have that problem anymore and these little bonus dlc things they try and bait us with are never any good.

I think when people say this they should alter it to stop pre ordering AAA games like the big name stuff. Niche genres and games can get rare VERY fast. Then we have Limited Run Games..yeah you can't wait on that at all. While most CE's are worthless of western AAA games..again smaller niche games those CE's can get very hard to find later. Unholy Night is a new fighting game coming to SNES up on Amazon..I doubt it will stay readily available once released. That is a total collectors release. I agree on games like Mass Effect or Ass Creed,CoD and stuff like that. No point. However those Bayonetta 2 copies with Bayo 1 packed in have shot up in price. Xenoblade on Wii became pricey. Mario however..no danger of not being able to find a copy. Plenty avail. So I do pre order on games I know I want and sometimes very niche.

You're able to cancel pre-orders on amazon and bestbuy if you did the preorder online for bestbuy. Also stop telling people how to spend their money just because you don't like the state gaming is in.

i preordered and paid off god of war, days gone and death stranding. So no i will not stop preorders if i know a game would be worth it.

I don't preorder games at all. Too many games that are hyped up end up not being worth it.

Started doing this about 18 months/ 2 years ago. Used to just have everything preordered through the year so they would arrive whenever they released.

Don't preorder anything now & to be fair I can't remember the last game I even bought on release day. Best decision I ever made!

I end up playing the games I already have a lot longer & picking up the new game as a full package with everything fixed at a much lower price when it's actually really ready. It's a win, win!

its a new practice now to get a game out as quick as possible
because of the share holders and the deadline.
the days are gone where they use to higher a load of game testers to make sure the games are bug free

i only buy a game if i like the company that is doing it

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau

Wuchang is great. Nine Sols didn’t have a physical copy so I never played it but I’ve heard good things so I will check it out. I stopped playing sports games many years ago when before the card dlc’s or whatever they’re called.
