Nintendo's biggest mistakes

It has to be asked: Just which products have set Nintendo back the most?

Backing out of the play station deal

_-EDMIX-_3316d ago

Absolutely how could it not be backing the PlayStation? You're talking about a deal that backfired on them so much that it gave rise to the console that would overtake them for basically every generation and essentially take over the hardcore Market.

My understanding more PlayStation consoles have sold than all the Nintendo consoles combined.

The PlayStation might be one of the craziest origin stories in Electronics.

It gave rise to a company that basically brought gaming to the masses in mainstream. Nintendo for a long time I believed was holding back of the industry and basically kept training wheels on, where Sony was one of the very few companies that basically let the Developers make content that were more suitable for multiple audiences as opposed to centered around children.

Just felt Nintendo with taking way too much advantage of the market share that they had in gaming and I just don't believe they were being responsible in regards to where the future of the industry was going whereas the PlayStations rise is basically because of what Nintendo continued to do wrong. For Nintendo to not listen to developers that actually make games and use a media format that is extremely small and limits the designers only went on to be there altimate downfall it was ignorant disrespectful and just absolutely stupid at the end of the day it not only cost them that generation it's cemented that they were never going to be a PlayStation console.

Sony clearly saw an opening in a market that Nintendo for whatever reason was neglecting.

They said yes where Nintendo continue to say no.

That is unfortunately how fast technology moves in this industry if you neglect to listen to software designers you could end up paying for it in the long run.

Sony took that ball and ran with it and never let go.

Theyve certainly pulled their share of boners. Most companies wouldve failed, but they have some great resiliance to failure. I wish i had nintendos pockets.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit23d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing23d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9223d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
