What would be the point of a Switch Mini? If Nintendo replaces the 3DS, it will be with the Switch. They will join all their teams to focus on the Siwtch, and make games that would be on a portable console, too.

Why would Nintendo release a 3DS successor, only to have two portable consoles on the market? Yes, the Switch is being marketed as a home console first, but it has a portable aspect, and there is no need for another.

The Switch will have both home and protable games. Big games like Zelda, but also games that would fit better on a PS Vita. Nintendo would be fool to release a 3DS successor, and a mini switch is a stupid idea.

It's stupid because the screen is only 720p you don't have a high enough resolution for that screen size and then you try to port games to it. It only works if a game developed exclusively. But porting games down to inferior resolution is gonna make games look choppy.

I'm saying the Switch mini would be too small. I already can't play Zelda on the go. You need to see detail in order to play some games.

Why can't you play Zelda on the go? I can do it just fine, and the screen looks pretty damn good, even at 720p. You can't really see the pixels unless you stick the Switch to your nose, and nobody plays it like that.

You're deluded by the absolutely unnecessary high resolutions of smartphone screens. 1080p is already a bit overkill for a 5" smartphone, never mind 4K phones... lol.

Yup, I'm 99% sure you don't even have a Switch, judging by the, frankly put, amount of bullshit in your post.

Oh, and BTW: the theoretical Switch Mini would have the same resolution, dude, just like all versions of 3DS / 2DS have the same resolution. Use some common sense.

I like how somebody assumes I don't have something because I said something negative about it.

The switch does look "good" on the handheld mode. It looks better at 720p handheld than 900p docked mode. However zelda requires exploring and looking at things. At that small screen you can't see small details. The small details are hidden while the smallness does hide flaws like aliasing.

Also you said same resolution, it won't help. The issue is the size also.

The Switch Mini would be the exact same thing as the Switch in the sense that it plays the same games. However, being a whole single thing and not modular, and not having a dock, would make it cheaper.

It just makes sense. Nintendo could even release an optional minidock for it so that you can also plug it to the TV, with the caveat that you'd then be required to buy an extra pair of Joycon or a Pro Controller...

That's my thinking of it. It could work and if they made it for something like £150ish and the switch for £250ish could be onto something but I think we are at least 18 months before Nintendo look to kill the 3ds.

It is funny how nintendo fanboys thinks that nintendo goes the logical route. It is as you say, nintendo made the 2ds which defeated the purpose of 3d, yet there it was. But watch nintendo fanboys make nonsical logic out if it, when nintendo decides to make a switch mini. I remember when the DS XL got made, nintendo fanboys claimed it was literally for old people who could not see well. Worst case however was the new 3ds, the logic they made about it coming without a charger was laughable.

I see a Switch Slim, mini ,XL etc coming as it makes sense for the company and its not out of the ordinary for them to do that. Regardless of what they have to leave behind, change, remove, alter etc.

As to why anyone would think not being able to um "switch" would change that is beyond me.

I mean, bruh...the 2DS can't 3D so there goes that theory.

Regardless of what they are saying....it is a portable. They always revise their systems even if they are not redesigns, I don't even think Nintendo, Sony or MS have NEVER NOT done a revise to their systems.

At the end of the day, this is a PORTABLE, they must revise it as much as they can to make it lighter, cheaper etc. It cost tons of money to make it portable ,so why would they keep the design the same when they know they can not only save more money, but get more users with a smaller option?

I mean.....are you so slow that you don't realize that REGARDLESS of what Nintendo is calling this, it can still have a redesign to be smaller, lighter, thinner and even more portable then it already is?

LCD screen, battery, form factor, I can bring it with me anywhere, I mean....that is a portable so I don't know where you thought "home console" based on Nintendo saying so.

3DS is the only one in recent years. The Wii got the Wii Mini which was stripped of many features and the Wii U never got anything.

I can put money on it that Nintendo will not make another version of the Switch. They might upgrade the dock but nothing major. There won't be a slim/mini whatever. Nintendo is making the console so I don't give a shit what you think it is lmao. They clearly stated its a successor to the Wii U and not the 3DS regardless of being a hybrid system. I never said Nintendo wouldn't change the system because of the name so maybe you're the slow one?

@TX- The 3DS was revised based on being a portable. The want to make bigger, smaller, versions without 3D etc.

Switch is also a portable. This is a fact.

The same reason to revise the 3DS, is the same reasons to revise and redesign the Switch in terms of having another SKU.

Wii U is a stand alone console.

The Switch is a portable. Soooooo reasons to redesign are based on simply being a portable, not based on being the successor to Wii U or 3DS or anything like that.

3DS got a redesign based on solely getting more market share from other users, not JUST BECAUSE it came after DS. That might be the dumbest thing I've read in a while.

What benefit does Nintendo even have to not make different versions? Wouldn't that also apply to 3DS being a portable?

Doubtful. I could maybe see a more powerful Switch eventually. But a Switch mini? It would need a new dock, new joy-cons, etc.

The dock itself is simply a cord bud......

The size of the device is actually irrelevant. If it is small enough to go in, its fine. I've even seen people open up the dock and simply use a cord , which confirms the plastic around it is literally irrelevant to the function.

Nope.

You wouldn't need a new dock. If people over the web can make a 10 second work around to get to the cord, so can Nintendo. Mind you ,the dock itself is legit just plastic, the cord to do what the Switch needs in regards to outing to the TV is going to cost them simply a few bucks.

For all you know ,the Switch mini would launch with no dock at all and dock optional. A cord can be given for a work around for existing Switch users and the new dock can be an option for both users.

The original Switch sku can have the new dock in the future or they can basically go dock option on both skus.

Dude, really? You say that I'm wrong about a new dock, and then say they would just need less plastic. Less plastic means a new design, and a new design means a new dock. Like that is exactly what I'm saying, and you're saying I'm wrong somehow.

I'm not saying Nintendo would have to use new tech or cables or anything, just that they would need to sell a new version of the dock to work with a Switch Mini.

And the 2DS not having 3D doesn't really matter, does it? The 2DS was aimed at small children who weren't recommended to use 3D on the 3DS anyway. There was no reason for the 2DS to have any 3D. Nothing about the Switch would require that kind of change, even if a Switch Mini were aimed at kids.

That's a bit different from the Switch and joy-cons. Not having new detachable joy-cons would make it strictly a handheld, which would negate the whole hybrid push with the Switch. All the marketing, the whole idea behind the system is that it's a hybrid. Why would Nintendo undo all of that, after spending millions to push that idea? There's no logic in that.

Wrong, 2DS made it child-friendly because the 3D setting isn't good for young kids eyes and it was a more durable version vs the clam shell which was easily broken by young kids. Plus by that time 3D was dying and being barely used, most 3DS games now don't even include 3D so they can put more into the game's performance.

I can't see them releasing a switch mini without the joy cons cos you need to remove them to play games such as 1-2 switch and even if they did they would be so small to hold in most people's hands. I think it'll more likely be a 3ds successor. That's more important cos the switch is missing some features the 3ds had such as 3d and a camera.
Or even a upgraded switch.

Unfortunately it won't happen. The goal of Switch is to sell lot of accessories over a long period of time at a substantial markup. The JoyCon controllers alone could be $140-210 over the course of ownership as they wear out and are replaced.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted
