because having a popular board game for a system that screams the ability to play table top games on is a bad idea now? Seriously I hope we see more board games follow suit.

It's a great idea, but Monopoly isn't a big get for Switch. Where's Wildlands or For Honor for Switch? PS4, Xbox One and PC get the latter two games, while Switch gets Monopoly. That is my point.

consoles still get board games, but at least the Switch presents an interesting way to play the game.

I don't doubt that the Switch will still be short in the area of 3rd party games, but I still think we will see a stronger effort this time by 3rd parties since the Switch will no doubt sell better than the Wii U. I mean we saw every game show up on the Wii and that thing was extremely underpowered.

Do they all have this version of monopoly tho? Nope. I understand as monopoly wow not for me really it's a great game and all that but no thanks. Board game collection would be good and more options the better so I'll take wildlands as you say but when it's already available and no doubt better elsewhere PS4/pc Xbox 1 having it on a 4th console will sell switchs? Sure monopoly won't but the fact it's exclusive... as monopoly gets don't think the others can do the stuff with the joy cons like I saw in the brief glimpse of the trailer or corresponding part of Nintendo direct. Better 3rd party games give us switch owners something exclusive rather than just same old same old as the others.
At the end of the day the only trend after a month of Switch launch is people still wanna see if fail.. sad.

As well as a but load of decent Indies. But sure, no third party support.

I think the problem here is that your idea of third party support is really narrow. More over the Switch s positioning itself as a console that compliments the PS4/ Xbone. So having arguably sluggish ports of this years most forgetable third party games doesn't really bother me.

How does that help when you name other old games? smh..

I mean...you might be helping his point if anything.

If MS announced a new console, you really think "an exclusive new version of SFII, Disgea 5, Minecraft, and Payday 2" would suddenly steal the show? It would greatly question whats going on the systems specs to even have those titles as something to brag about.

Its not saying those games are bad, simply that those games release on PS4 or XONE are not even list worthy, they are not games that someone is out right telling you they are buying a new system for.

Why the Switch need those game? you can play them on Ps4 and Xbox. The Switch needs its own game. and Monopoly is a good start.

Funny how those "exclusive new versions" most likely means downgraded ports that don't measure up to the normal versions. So how is that a good thing again? Looking forward to the spin...

actually Snipperclips is a really cool game to play. I would suggest you try it, but we all know that you don't actually own a Switch but still like saying something sucks when you have zero experience with it.

Don't know if its indicative, but Payday 2 definitely gave me the willies. I'm gonna hold out my final judgement until E3. Right now I am not super excited about this piece of tech. Hopefully Nintendo is listening.

I'm not a big fan of Monopoly but it's a good fit for the system, the focus of the direct was for Arms & Splatoon, everything else was just minor announcements/trailers. If anything bigger is coming it probably won't be til the fall, E3 will be indicative if the system will have good/decent support or none at all.

Exactly. I was actually surprised by how much else they showed, even if a lot of it wasn't that exciting.

Of course, however, out of all the news from the Direct the Splatoon 2 and Arms news is buried on this site because it paints a more positive picture of Nintendo's Switch lineup.

@richyque Port or not Splatoon is game that over a million fans want. ARMs does not look like an Indie game and even if it was, are you saying Indie games are not worth the time or money to play. Many would beg to differ. Monopoly on the Switch is a good fit. I think people are missing the point that Nintendo does not need a bunch of over hyped 3rd party games to be successful. All they need is a steady flow of content and a platform for their 1st parties and that 3rd parties can put games on. Do they need COD when they have Spaltoon, no. COD would help but wont define a Nintendo system. Nintendo only needs to do two things to be successful. Fully commit to viable online infrastructure and fully commit to developing all their 1st party IPs. Nintendo is ifferent form Sony and MS on the fact that they only need 3rd parties to provide relief in times that they have no 1st parties being released. No other Gaming company has a library of 1st party IPs that consistently sell in the millions.

Splatoon 2 has new modes, new weapons, new customization options, new maps, and most likely a new story. How is that worse than the sequel to many other shooters out there? From the outside looking in, one could say Uncharted 3 looked like an expansion to Uncharted 2, Battlefield 4 was an expansion to Battlefield 3, Bioshock 2 was an expansion to Bioshock, etc . . . People keep saying Splatoon 2 is a port of Splatoon, but they can't say what the game needs for them to consider it a sequel.

As for Arms, people said similar things about Splatoon, but the game went on to sell over four and a half million copies on a console with an install base of less than fourteen million.

Sorry Nintendo, maybe I'm just old-school, but I prefer my Monopoly on a board, with my friends and family in the living room. This is shovel-ware-original-Wii-crap again, in my opinion.

Give me some some real first party IPs and new IPs I can enjoy playing. That's why I bought Nintendo Switch, for Nintendo games. I have a PS4 & Xbox one for those other games.

As for third party stuff, I would love to see some new IPs, not just some last gen remakes or remasters. Give us something that shines at home on our Television and on-the-go in portable mode.

It's painfully obvious by now that the Switch won't be getting solid 3rd party support, just like the Wii and Wii U before it. Nothing has changed, Nintendo is still embarrassingly stuck in the past, completely unable to deliver a genuinely competitive piece of gaming hardware. Time for them to stop making bad gaming hardware and just go software only.

At worst, this is a sign of weak UBISOFT support.
Ubisoft is not the bricklayer of the road for all third parties: Square-Enix is already showing far more promise as a game maker for Switch.
