Geez, Just Cause 3 is massive! I'm surprised that The Witcher 3 wasn't higher.

frostypants3310d ago

Witcher 3 kinda mislead people with sub-maps patched together and lots of unplayable area on that world map.

gamerpop3310d ago

I don't remember Fary Cry 4 being especially big... seemed smaller than Fallout 4 to me.

septemberindecember3310d ago

Probably because you can travel faster.

madhouse023310d ago

Who cares how big the game is if there is nothing in it tho? Zelda is a whole lot of empty space...

Nu3310d ago

Skyrim is worse though with that empty space.

Goldby3309d ago

aint got nothign on Just Cause 3 tho.

That shit is emptier than a blonde riding shotgun on a motorcycle

Nu3309d ago

@Goldby lol

mcstorm3310d ago

I think Zelda has a nice mix in the game as it's not just about fighting there are a lot of hidden thing in this world but each to there own

Darkfist_Flames3310d ago

who care about empty space, as long as you can collect seeds man, those lovely 900 seeds, oh and copy and past enemies and shrines.

DanteVFenris6663310d ago

Horizons open world is basically like zeldas but without the shrines and korok seeds. And without always having an interesting landmark to explore in the distance. If their is an interesting landmark it's locked behind a quest.

MASTER_RAIDEN3310d ago (Edited 3310d ago )

I love how zelda is not nearly the largest or emptiest map on this list yet you still single that out.

Kakashi Hatake3310d ago

Exactly, open world in its current form is getting old. That's why I enjoyed Resident Evil 7 as much as I did.

mcstorm3310d ago

I'm not unsure about Res 7 i feel 5 and 6 were a let down and don't want to feel the same about 7 is it better then then two?

Link2DaFutcha3309d ago

Not sure why you got a disagree there @mcstorm, but yeah Res7 is way better than 5 or 6. Really fun game, great mechanics, and super spooky. I had a blast with it, currently going through some of the DLC now, in between zelda and horizon.

DanteVFenris6663310d ago

It really doesn't. Maybe you just can't see all the hidden puzzles in the world 900 korok seeds and 120 shrines.

Also if your a Sony fan I hope you can say the same about horizon where the open world is nothing but empty space with enemies in it. Everything interesting is quest directed. No incentive to explore besides maybe the cauldrons which again are just revealed to you on your map and some even quest directed.

I love horizon but for different reasons than I love Zelda.

C_Ali883309d ago

stfu madhouse02.... You sound bitter.....That game IS NOT empty, always something to do.

They need to look at Morrowind and see what the progression should have been from there instead of the regression we got with the next 2 games. They weren’t horrible games but they could have been so much more.

-Foxtrot176d ago

Fallout 4 just felt too streamlined and accessible to me, the perk system was not as fun as it was in Fallout 3, not saying Fallout 3 didn't have issues but 4 just felt like a complete step back.

mastershredder176d ago

So the part where you just sold the same games for the last 10 years while you focused on 76 and merch, was not a reset from the "creative" aspect eh? How very Todd of you.

lukasmain176d ago

I bought Fallout 4 (I loved Fallout 3) at launch and I couldn't bring myself to finish it or even get close to finishing it. It was soooo damned boring and bland. I played on a very hard difficulty and I had hundreds of stimpaks. One of the only games I've played for a while and not ended up finishing it. I hated it. Just flat out hated it.
