AMD is getting into wireless VR headset technology

When AMD launched its Radeon RX 480 graphics card it promised to deliver VR for the masses, or at least the computing power to do so.And it did.
Fast forward 10 months and while VR-capable graphics cards have become relatively the norm, the software (apps) and hardware (headsets) ecosystem has been somewhat lagging.

This is when VR will start to get interesting.

micrsosoft will also get into it and i think apple is aslo a believer in augmeted reality like micrsooft is. htc vive is getting a monthly subsciption option too for only $7 a month.

once they stop jerking around with exclusive deals and the hardware comes down in price it can only mean greater things and more real game support from top tiered developers.

Well augmented reality and VR are two different things. I see more of a future in business for AR and at home use. Like having your desktop pc built into hololens and integrated into your home?Dope

VR I see it kicking off in mobile because the screen, lets say a galaxy s8, pretty much covers most of the cost for the VR headset which allows them to give it to you cheaper. The screen for the galaxy s8 is 4k...impressive and great for a VR

I was horribly unimpressed with the VR gadgets I tried (Samsung/Sony), so hopefully they'll have some killer IPs or something soon.

ARESWARLORD3350d ago

AMD just seems so Cutting Edge these days if I was Nvidia I would be damned scared

FinalFantasyFanatic3349d ago

They're making all the best possible moves despite everyone saying how terrible the CPU/GPUs are (they're price is amazing when you take the price/performance ratio into account).

ARESWARLORD3348d ago

It's all relative they're GPUs are fantastic they just don't have anything that competes with the higher-end at this point I run RX 480 Crossfire setup and it destroys anything you throw at it

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing45d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9245d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit45d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing45d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9245d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
