Sony is batting 1000% from the perspective where it really matters! And they have done so every generation that they've been involved in. Not to mention they've upped the anti tech wise as well.

Here's hoping something from E3 comes from Microsoft outside of the usual Halo, Gears, and Forza stuff.

interesting, seems hardware wise they will be able to compete this time, but hardware alone means nothing if they cant come up with nice exclusives (by that i mean console only, not console plus win10). Canceling games and what not, time will tell if Phil Spencer can make Xbox great again.

Doesn't matter how "powerful" your gaming rig is, if you don't have games tailored for it then guess what, it's pointless. Microsoft don't have IPs or devs that can do that power justice. The only people who may be able to do something remotely good is the Forza Devs...

It's going to be very interesting to see if MS can recapture the casual crowd. Making Xbox the place to play CoD, BF, Madden, Destiny 2, etc would be big for MS. That's their only chance imo, they just don't have the exclusives to compete with Sony on that front, but the funny thing is they don't need to. Casuals make up the majority of the market and ultimately end up steering a company to victory. As great as Sony's exclusives are if they were like Nintendo and only had their first party lineup to rely upon, they'd be in a similar boat as Nintendo.

Remember when Xbox had games like Perfect Dark? or even Left for Dead? Those days are long gone and that makes me sad. MS needs to do better!

Gotta take it to another level, MS. Sony is killing it with 1st party games.

"PlayStation’s Software Supremacy" Is stretching it a bit far ain't it? I mean yeah the PlayStation exclusives are mostly good and some are awesome. And fewer of them makes it's way to PC compared to Xbox.

But to insinuate that the exclusives on PlayStation is defining the entire gaming landscape is just silly.

Sure I get it that those with a good enough PC dont see the need to buy a Scorpio if the games they want to play are available on PC. But then again the Scorpio is hardly aimed at those people either. It's for Xbox users who wants an upgrade be it 1080p or 4K gaming. And those who want the console with the best visuals and performance on all the biggest third party AAA games. Be it PlayStation owners or those who just dont want a PC.

So cant we all just stop the charade that PlayStation exclusives is the only thing that some suddenly plays and matter. Some of the biggest AAA and Indie games released each year are available on all plattforms. Well except the Switch that is.....

You see that games it what makes a system great, not raw power. While its nice to have for better graphics, its the games that make a system appealing, and Playstation is dominating on that area currently with a good mix of huge quantity and quality.

Destiny 2 is going to release and take more of my hours than any exclusive released this year combined and I'll be playing the definitive version with all the Xbox bells and whistles.

Exclusives are there but only if you spend 1500$ on software a year does it really factor for anything worthwhile.

I rather have the best console where I can play the majority of the games I purchase anyway at the best quality. If exclusives are your only talking point then you'd own all 3 like myself making articles like these pointless.

I don't own an Xbox and won't be shelling out for a Scorpio, but this will definitely be the first year I watch Microsoft's stage at E3, for sure! Hardware doesn't convince me what to own, I have stuck with Playstation for each generation because of the games and PS4 was the first generation I owned from day one of release. Scorpio has delivered on the hardware, but they need to deliver on what they can exclusively bring from their first party, for me to make the jump to owning both consoles. I can't justify a lot of money for owning a better looking third party game, that's madness. I look forward to seeing some surprises come E3. Fingers crossed cause competition is good.

The attachment rate is higher on xbox than ps.

Sorry to break it to you but facts are facts.

If the same amount of xb1's were sold as the ps4's, the xb1 software units would outsell ps4 software units by about 2.25 to 1.

If the Scorpio sells well and has the same software attachment rate as the xb1, then the ps4pro is dead in water.

To even compare MS and Sony with regards to IP's it is just stupid.

Sony has a heap crap load more IP's that people care about that they can revive all the way back to the PS1 days.

As a lifelong gamer since before any of these consoles existed...and owner of all of the big three for every gen...this is MASSIVELY over-stated. Yes, Sony has some great exclusives, but not NEARLY as dominant as many would have you believe. A common trick is that people will compare ALL KNOWN PS exclusives vs MS's 2017 exclusives. More than that, most PS exclusives are games that will rate well, but no one will play them. This year is probably MS's most drought year according to some...and still, this year, there are more "Must play" games on X1 for me than on any other console. Horizon was great, but I doubt I'll play another PS exclusive game until God of War or Days Gone...whenever those come out. This year on X1 I'll be playing Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, Tacoma, Ashen, Below, Cuphead (and Phantom Dust most likely as I missed it the first time around). Even on Switch there are more "must have" games to play than on PS this year....Zelda and Mario Oddessey. This is clearly an agenda pushed by die-hard son-only fans.

Oh great now xbox fans have to buy a new console so that 3rd party games can finally run at 1080p, show us new ip's and xbox exclusives before asking me to buy a new console.

There was never a "hardware problem", it's always been a software problem. Fanboys would poke fun at Xbox for being slightly less powerful, but in practice, there is rarely a time where there was any noticeable difference between the consoles. If you think Playstation is outselling Xbox 2:1 because of "hardware", you haven't been paying attention.

If some how ms bring the heat at e3, then maybe it might be a moderate success. But ms has said multiple times, all games will be playable on all platforms now imagine the xbs1 versions of these games run horribly but much better on Scorpio. People will be PISSED then if the system is pricy. It will DIE a horrible death. Oh well tho...

Still Sony was smart to slap a turbo charger on a old block and squeeze every ounce of power they could from the older current hardware..... Yes I am speaking metaphorically. Look Sony doesn't have the Supersport car of hardware but its still sports car and doing it with much less expensive mass produce parts.....

Microsoft is coming in with the sleeker more upscale machine appealing to a more sophisticated gaming crowd and there is a market for it. The question you will ask yourself is if it is worth your wallet?

Sony will make that question even harder because by using older hardware to achieve near 4K/4K gaming; Sony can run sales and deals against Microsoft's Xbox Scorpio (or whatever it ends up being called) that Microsoft just can't match without Sony hurting their bottom line to much. Sony could easily pitch the PS4 PRO at $300 and probably still not lose any money or sleep over the price drop.

Microsoft has got a long battle ahead on both the hardware and software side but again there is a market for it just like there is a market for Nintendo Switch type user/players.
