The Worst Things About Mass Effect: Andromeda

GameRaven.com writes:

''Last week, I broke down the best elements of Bioware’s latest into the Mass Effect franchise. By this point, we’ve all heard various things about the game. That hasn’t stopped Andromeda from topping the sales charts, but the fact remains, the game flawed.''

It shouldn't. Its actually a really damn good game!

JayPi33343d ago

Right? I'm getting tired of seeing all these negative articles about the game, like yeah the game has issues, the biggest ones being it's animation but that doesn't mean it deserves to be trashed daily.

I see worst games that get little to no attention on this site. No Man's Sky was a worst offender than Mass Effect: Andromeda and it barely gets as much hate as this game does.

PixelGateUk3343d ago

The animation isn't mentioned in this though:?

'I see worst games that get little to no attention on this site. No Man's Sky was a worst offender than Mass Effect: Andromeda and it barely gets as much hate as this game does.'

Did you come here at any point during NMS's release? lol

joab7773343d ago

NMS was much worse! But it's good now too! ME is damn good though!

SgtPepper3343d ago

I'm seven hours into the game and I really like it. Sure it's not the most polished of games (especially after playing Horizon) but it is exactly what I want in a space exploration game.

Warning

I actually prefer it to the original Mass Effect.

Unoriginalplayer3343d ago

I have to agree with you...there is something about being in a place that is completely foreign and not truly knowing what your choices will do to the future of the initiative. It is definitely not polished but honestly none of the Mass Effect games were. I remember a nasty glitch in ME2 where during a side mission my characters would start floating in the air for no reason and there was no way to fix it except booting up an old save. That sucked.

joab7773343d ago

Exactly. I came off Horizon too and have P5 sitting here but I can't stop playing ME!

Unoriginalplayer3343d ago

Proof read before you publish an article...
We all get it. The game has flaws but the choice to streamline powers being a "flaw" is purely subjective. I like where they went because with the action being more intense than previous Mass Effects I do not want to waste time in a power wheel. If you want to switch up your powers based on an upcoming fight, do it. You can change any power and style on the fly. Yea, there are not a lot of new races but we are starting out basically fresh. I guess I am in the minority but I do not want every race, planet, problem, threat, or creature to be forced on me in the first game. We are also in one little section of Andromeda so let us give them the benefit of the doubt in terms of where they are going. The game plays, looks, and feels like Mass Effect. Enjoy the game and stop pointing out flaws!!!

PixelGateUk3343d ago

'Stop pointing out the flaws'

You clicked on a post ablut the games worst features and complain about pointing out floors. Even though the same site has a post pointing out the good features of the game on the same page. Good job pal

Unoriginalplayer3343d ago

Thanks! I am well aware they did a piece on good features. That still does not make my comment any less valid. My god, how hard is it to spell correctly? I choose to read these because I want to see what nit picking is being done and voice my opinion on what I disagree on. It is a game I am interested in and invested in so no reason I can not talk about it whether positive or negative.

PixelGateUk3343d ago

' It is a game I am interested in and invested in so no reason I can not talk about it whether positive or negative.'
Wait...so you can point out flaws, but others are not allowed too?

awesome, you're truly the power we all must react to. Don't see you how hypnotical that is?

joab7773343d ago

I like what they did because they went more action-y and streamlines with combat and it's great, but went more rpg-ish with crafting and side quests etc.

Saijahn3343d ago

Did this person play the game? There's quite a few options Ryder chooses to be a dick if he/she wants. Also the powers can be switched freely. Yes it's stripped down but you can switch powers, favorite setups and profiles with a couple button presses.

For All Its Flaws, Mass Effect: Andromeda's Approach to Romance is Something ME4 Can Learn From

While Mass Effect: Andromeda was let in several key areas, one of its approaches to romances is something Mass Effect 4 should consider revisiting.

I hope Mass Effect 4 ignores the inferior prequels and instead closely follows the far superior Mass Effect: Andromeda and Dragon Age Inquisition.

anast499d ago (Edited 499d ago )

Mass Effect 4 should just make Mass Effect 1 but better with current tech. Fans would be happy. As far as romance, they should take notes from the Witcher and Cyberpunk.

Ristul498d ago

Later Bioware games have to little build up. You can have a normal conversation and all of a sudden BAM! The character you talk to becomes super flirty.

TricksterArrow498d ago

Reminds me of Baldur’s Gate. I wanted to practice some magic and Gale made it super weird. Not even gonna mention Astarion.

gold_drake498d ago (Edited 498d ago )

iii dunno about that.

the only really great and funny dating partner, is that outlaw guy anyways haha he was funny as hell.

other than that, i found every character to be very annoying.

ZeekQuattro498d ago

Shout out to Keri the Asari reporter. Current relationship status be damned as she's game either way. Anything for a good story. 🤣

Mass Effect Companion Tier Ranking

One of the best things about the Mas Effect series is the companions you meet along the way. So here is a tier list of all the companions from Mass Effect!

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast540d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine540d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast540d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman540d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast540d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

IAMRealHooman539d ago

it's like bitch but your shirt back on, your not blue or spikey get away from me

BioWare Thinks Mass Effect Andromeda Was Better Game Than Reception Suggested

BioWare thinks Mass Effect: Andromeda was a better game than what reception suggested; taught the studio not to shoehorn open-world without any meaningful content in it.

thorstein575d ago

I played it and it wasn't as bad as people said. Is it in the 8-10 range? No.

It's a 6-7, which means it's a solid game.

LordoftheCritics575d ago (Edited 575d ago )

Veilguard and Andromeda are of similar level to me.
6 to 6.5 ish

Though I think i enjoyed Andromeda's combat and sense of scale a little bit more.

XBManiac574d ago

Veilguard has better graphics.

neutralgamer1992575d ago

I agree with you It was a 6.5 type game. Gameplay was solid everything else was lacking. Playing at launch with all the issues was just absurd. EA could have let the developers keep patching and fix the game but they stopped just like they did with anthem. It’s crazy to think multi billion dollar publishers can’t afford to keeping patching their games get medium size developers can support the game for years

But when you have android wilson running the company what else can we expect.

OtterX575d ago

Except 6-7 doesn't translate as solid. 6 means a bit flimsy, but still good/enjoyable if you can look past the flaws. 7, a little less flimsy, and enjoyable. 8-10 would be "solid".

But I get your point. I skipped the game entirely, so I don't have an opinion on it.

H9575d ago

I played this game back when I wanted to give every game I bought a fair chance and finish it, it was the reason why I stopped doing so, god the game was bad

TheNamelessOne575d ago

I actually enjoyed Andromeda. It wasn't a 10/10, by any means, but I played it years after the fact, after a lot of patching, and I had a good time with it.

anast575d ago

Same, I enjoyed it too. I might even replay it soon.

TheNamelessOne575d ago

Might do the same, honestly. Went through the trilogy a couple months back.

raWfodog574d ago

I liked it as well, and also played it for the first time over a year after it was released. The original trilogy was a better story overall IMO but I still enjoyed Andromeda.

lellkay575d ago

The game is so unbelivably bad, it's laughable.

pwnmaster3000575d ago (Edited 575d ago )

It really wasn’t. Well for me nd I’m a big fan of the series.
Was it mass effect standard? No
But overall I thought it was a decent game.
6-7/10.

Armaggedon575d ago

You might want to try playing a truly bad game. Go boot up two worlds or gollum to get the perspective you need

MatrixxGT575d ago

Wow, two worlds…red ringed my 360.

Armaggedon575d ago

Lol. Its one of the only games that I have experienced buyers remorse with. The only one I can think of is riders Republic.

matt139575d ago

So delusional, the title was an embarrassment to the original trilogy. it’s the equivalent of 2042 to the battlefield franchise.

thorstein575d ago

2042 had a redemption arc and what exists now is a pretty good FPS.
