During an interview with Twinfinite at EGX Rezzed at Tobacco Dock in London, SEGA product manager Jim Dyer spoke candidly about Sonic’s underwhelming transition from 2D to 3D.

The divide between both iterations of Sonic is now reaching spin-off territory, and the way Sega is handling it is both a blessing and a curse.

Game Rant Writes "Sonic Forces is now five years old, and while it has plenty of flaws, there are things the 2017 release handles well enough to affect future games."

Sega aims to release 2D Sonic games alongside the 3D ones each year, but it's questionable how the company plans to continue this trend.
I'm not convinced Forces is really going to end up being anything more than a safe play. I didn't see much more than a rejazzed Generations. Early days yet, though.
This happens every time there's a new Sonic game, lol. I look forward to three years from now when they're working on the next one and explaining how they screwed this one up but have finally figured it out.
Sonic mania excites me
You think?
I really liked Generations, Unleashed as well - looking forward to this one and Mania.
As for spin-offs I'd really like to see another Sonic All stars racing - really enjoyed those too.
