Sony's Potential Resourcing Problem

While it is no secret Sony is making a killing with the PlayStation 4, the double-downed focus on the home console could have a negative domino effect on its other devices.

"Aside from that, I cannot see a Killzone, Resistance, Little Big Planet or any other major Sony-owned series for that matter in the near future, unless they contract an external studio to make it as part of a second-party relationship like they did with Little Big Planet 3, Sly Cooper 4 and Bloodborne."

i was thinking this. Sanzaru are making some weird game on 3ds.
i hope they took care of Sly series cause i think they delivered the best episode in the series with thieves in time.
Media molecule are litterally sleeping. almost 4 years ago PS4 was out and still not a first game from them yet. Back then we got LBP1 and 2 and Vita version was on the way.. no idea what's wrong.

Sony never really supported a peripheral the right way, despite the technology behind.
The only one i remember is eyeToy, it got decent games and got A LOT of them, even from 3rd party (Sega..).
I think it is a pity Sony show that PS4 is number one choice for them and killed Vita because of this.

Media Molecule has released a game on the PS4, Tear away unfolded.

@bouzebbal
Guerrilla Games was working on Horizon Zero Dawn for 6 years and Killzone Shadowfall went gold in 2013 so it's clear that Guerrilla Games had PS4 dev kits as early as 2011. Also, Naughty Dog now has two development groups who work on projects simultaneously. (Uncharted 4/Uncharted Lost Legacy) The assertion that resources are somehow being diverted away from "other things" is ridiculous. Sony stopped supporting the Vita because it wasn't selling, the PS4 was and it still is. This article is the perfect example of someone writing a story about something they know nothing about.

freshslicepizza3329d ago

did you read the arrticle?

"Let’s start off with the PlayStation 4, which does not have a resourcing issue whatsoever."

they are not suggesting the issue is with the ps4. it is however saying they are putting too much emphasis on the ps4 and worry about support for other things. vita died, will sony support psvr or will it die too? nintendo has a thriving mobile business, microsoft has a thriving windows business that makes each company look like a neighborhood corner store. sony on the other hand are not the company they used to be 20 years ago.

@moldy
I was replying to the first post not the article. Do you see the @bouzebbal? It means I was replying to that person. Thanks for coming. Buhbye.

Goldby3326d ago

@Moldy bread.

why not bring up Kinect or Zune if you are bringing up vita... right, they aren't on Playstation. so they are perfect.
MS doesn't have a thriving Windows business. and dont use the total users of Win 10 as an options, half were forced on the users and the others were given away for free.
Windows store isn't holding up to the light in PC users.
windows10 games are more restrictive than steam and GoG games so theres that.

Don't bother reading it. That guy doesn't know PlayStation, its developers, or how the gaming industry works.

chris2353329d ago

thanks for the heads up. the article's headline gave that already away.

feraldrgn3329d ago

Well it certainly didn't help the Vita.

Are a bunch of games, some of which are nearly 10 years old not one being from 2026. Barely one from 2025.

I do like the irony of the closing paragraph though, "Why VR Adventure Games are Thriving". Really buddy?

mooreneco2129d ago

That’s because it’s his favourite VR adventure games thus far, a great game always a great game regardless of age - Half life 2/ Ocarina of time - are old but still among the greatest games of all time. The irony of it is several are from last year, depending on platform, have you even played VR?
