"Can the whole game fit into a cartridge i wonder.."

You're joking, right?

mikeslemonade3358d ago

Fits perfectly fine at 480p lol

Goldby3357d ago

i dunno man, i have a 40 inch TV. and no matter how i look at it, there is no way i can fit that entire tv in a cartidridge the size of my thumb. aint happening no matter how hard you hit.

or how many tvs you break in half....

cartridges go up to 32GB in size in their current form. I would like to believe they could compress a little bit since they will be scaling back a little here or there.

t3gamenews3358d ago

Resident Evil 7 file size is..
22.2GB on PS4, 20.4GB on Xbox One, & around 24GB? on PC.

Switch Carts "For Now" hold up to 32GB perhaps in the future more, but 32GB is more than enough to hold ResidentEvil7..
also PS4/XBone/PC require you to install the games. Nintendo Switch Doesn't..
then you have to think about Switch Using different Specs & Nintendo games usually have better compression than PS/XBox/PC versions so obviously the game & will be far smaller in File size.
as for the DLC same as just said, the game will be smaller so the DLC size will also be smaller..

This 100%. That's one thing I do like about the Switch. No installs. The storage may be limited, but you don't really need that much if you buy physical copies. And since they're tiny little cartridges, they're easy to take with. Plus, being a hybrid it's almost certain most people will buy a travel case. I got one off Amazon for $13 that holds 8 games plus has a pouch for accessories. 8 games plus one in the Switch is a very decent amount of games to take with you on the go.

I doubt the game would run on the switch.

Concertoine3358d ago

Maybe at 720p 30 fps.

If it can run at 1080p ~55 fps on xbone it could prob be tweaked to run on switch.

They would have to tweak the game ridiculously to make it a desirable version of the game though.

The RE engine is coming to switch, but capcom will probably use it for monster hunter.

curtis923358d ago (Edited 3358d ago )

So you think they'll use it for a vast open world but a couple houses on some swamp property is just... out of the question? If anything RE7 would be the perfect RE engine game to showcase on Switch due to the tighter corridors.

Concertoine3358d ago

@curtis

Monster hunter isnt a vast open world, not sure if you've played it. Theyd probably use it for monster hunter because those games sell very well on Nintendo platforms. An HD monster hunter game is long overdue and would be a big hit in Japan.

Resident Evil games dont, however. Even exclusive ones like Zero.

I have no doubt it could run on switch, but theyd have to compress the game to fit on a 25gb cartridge as well tweak the resolution, framerate, and textures to run it on an entirely different (and weaker) architecture.

It sounds like a massive undertaking for a game thats already sat on shelves for 2 months.

curtis923358d ago

Well modern engines are quite scalable. Will it have the graphic fidelity of PS4? No. But by all means, the game isn't anything crazy gameplay wise. But in all seriousness, do people on this site do any research into anything before posting or is it all ran off of blind skepticism? I swear people seem to be under the impression the Switch is running on 3DS hardware.

souljah453358d ago

Ive finished the ps4 version twice but i would double dip for resi 4, 5, 6, and 7 on a handheld

TeamIcoFan3358d ago

If it did, I'd be all over that. Would love to be able to play RE7 on the go!

At first I was like, No Code Veronica on the list!? But then I seen Mainline. The list checks out, but I would personally put 2 over 4.

KwietStorm_BLM101d ago

I'll take 2 over 4 also. And even without a number, I don't see how Code Veronica, my other favorite in the franchise, isn't mainline when it's the actual sequel to RE2.

Rebel_Scum102d ago

The original RE was the best. Its not on the list which makes no sense.

The remake of it was alright but should be higher on this list.

-Foxtrot101d ago

The original RE smokes VII and Village, come on.

ivoryrolland9582d ago

i’m fine with people calling it “mainline,” but leaving out the original re1 entirely is wild, since it basically defines the whole series. i’d still put re2 over re4 for pure pacing and atmosphere, even though re4 is the more replayable game. also, the “mainline” label gets messy with code veronica since it feels more essential than some numbered entries. i swear half the time i’m reading these rankings i get derailed by random gambling tabs i opened earlier, including https://monopolybigballerli... and https://football-studio-dic... and https://red-baron.org/ which is a weird contrast to talking about survival horror.
