So, to recap the author:

It's cool to see with depth perception.
It makes him sick.
Vr is just experiences (shovelware/demos) with no must play AAA games.
It's the way of the future???

The current problems devs are facing is with making money off of VR experiences and with making experiences instead of AAA games. The high cost of entry limiting install base isn't helping either. Let's see what E3 brings to the table, but if VR isn't front and center at Sony's booth with meaningful VR titles, then VR in general will be in an extremely dangerous position and likely to fail before it gains traction. Who wants to buy a $400 headset to play gimmicky experiences? VR needs GAMES.

"no must play AAA games" - but skips over the quintessential VR game, Resident Evil 7.

So you're already jumping on that lie, not trying to quash it. I wonder how "high cost" that game was, but I doubt ludicrously expensive or the investment would not have been justified, especially for a company like Capcom, that has been risk-adverse for the most part this gen.

It's quite hilarious to see you twist the narrative to make it seem like it has to be AAA games, "experiences" or nothing. No middle ground allowed. No awesome games like REZ Infinite, SuperHyperCube, or Thumper allowed or be discussed as viable (or as you put it "meaningful") gaming options. If you had it your way, Farpoint would definitely not be a viable game already announced months ago and releasing this May.

Lol. I didn't jump on the bandwagon, I am the bandwagon. I've always maintained that VR in general is going to fail like Wii, Kinect, And Move. At most, it will end up successful like a steering wheel accessory for driving games. Maybe in 10 years or so things will be different, but these 1st gen devices are so primitive they're barely passable, and are currently more akin to a big screen 3DTV than real, interactive VR.

Seriously, if you want to defend PSVR specifically though, I never want to hear another Pony trash Xbox for having no games. PSVR has what, RE7, GT Sport, and maybe Farpoint then? A handful of real games after a year? If that's enough for you, fine, because what Xbox has for me is fine as well. It's your choice to support PSVR and that makes VR good enough for you. Think about this though: If Xbox is behind PS by a 2:1 margin because of games support, I would think you could see that a lack of good AAA games would negatively impact PSVR sales as well. For "some reason" you can't see that... but let's take the blinders off of you for a second and quit being naïve.

Devs losing money on almost every VR experience doesn't mean anything to you?
Sony's tradition of abandoning support for anything that's not a home console means nothing?
The 95% shovelware to 5% games ratio is not concerning, even though it's what killed all of motion control gaming?
The fact that a failed peripheral, the Move controllers, are the VR controls for PSVR doesn't bother you?

Like I said above, if E3 doesn't bring VR front and center, with AAA announcements, you can kiss PSVR goodbye, because it'll slowly follow the rest of the VR market right down the drain.

VR needs games so does another company and publisher. E3 will tell a lot

Are a bunch of games, some of which are nearly 10 years old not one being from 2026. Barely one from 2025.

I do like the irony of the closing paragraph though, "Why VR Adventure Games are Thriving". Really buddy?

mooreneco2130d ago

That’s because it’s his favourite VR adventure games thus far, a great game always a great game regardless of age - Half life 2/ Ocarina of time - are old but still among the greatest games of all time. The irony of it is several are from last year, depending on platform, have you even played VR?
