Well it doesn't seem to be doing its on seeing as the games are still being cracked anyway.

Denuvo is just another SecuRom. Developers that are actually knowledgeable understand that overly intrusive DRM only gets in the way of making a good game. They also understand that piracy isn't something that most people, even on PC, engage in. Look at Skyrim, you could pirate that game before it even officially released an yet it is the top selling PC game. The same is true of Fallout 4 and Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. All publishers are doing is wasting time and resources on draconian DRM solutions that ultimately fail in the end.

One of the best examples of this is Homefront Revolution which sold terribly. It took forever for Denuvo to be cracked on it, but that didnt make people buy it any more than they would have initially brought it. Simply put, people that wanted the game brought it, people that didnt want the game either played it by game sharing or renting a console version. In the end, the game was a failure and Denuvo didnt stop that from happening.

Rather than waste money on DRM companies need to invest money in making a compelling game. That is the lesson you can take away from Bethesda's approach to DRM.

I would also like to throw a bone to good old games aka gog.

A lot of games are still not cracked so its doing something

DarkZane3338d ago

Newer games are cracked within a week now. Some older games aren't cracked because there is a huge backlog of games to crack and only one group doing it.

DillyDilly3338d ago

& if groups were not competitive & if the one group cracking these games passed along their knowledge & everyone helped each other it would be for the better with that

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit12d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing12d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9212d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
