Monster Hunter stayed downgraded for a long time after idiocy of Capcom to bring MH3 on Wii ... PS4 is waiting for it with open arms

wonderfulmonkeyman3360d ago (Edited 3360d ago )

Switch is in much more need of it than PS4, though.
PS4 has so many other high profile games in the pipeline that missing out on Monster Hunter won't affect its continued success, but the Switch getting it as an exclusive could be the needed catalyst to bring the system one step closer to a firm sales success in the long run.

notachance3360d ago

@wonderful true, but I love monster hunter and getting it to PS4 would ensure my beloved franchise finally get a long-deserved mainstream recognition and secure its future in the west.

wonderfulmonkeyman3360d ago

@notachance
Putting it on Switch could do the same thing for it.

The best game in the series I've played was MH4 which was a biggest jump the series had made since the first ones, heard Generations was great too and both were 3DS exclusives, graphics didn't determine how good the series was. It has done the best on portable systems for Capcom, i think Tri on the Wii was the only one in the series for home consoles to sell past a 1 million so it only makes sense they want to stick on the portable side of things which did 2-5 million on average.

Portables sell better in Japan than consoles. MH Japans biggest series outside of DQ.

Would love to play Monster Hunter on my PS4 but I also won't mind playing it on the Switch, Could be the system seller for me.

I don't know if I would say all that

you have to consider that Capcom was in a bad financial situation they really needed that funding to help the Monster Hunter series you might believe a PlayStation 4 version of Monster Hunter make sense but with what money?

I understand we all see the end result is the PlayStation 4 has the higher install base but you have to understand it still cost money to produce those games in the majority of Monster Hunter fans are established on the Portables you still have to think about the demographic and Market that purchases Monster Hunter.

I'm sorry but that's not idiotic, that's simply business mind you I'm possibly not even going to get a switch if certain franchises don't come over and I'm still telling you Monster Hunter makes more sense on a portable platform then on consoles especially if you consider their situation.

Monster Hunter existed on the Wii because Nintendo was willing to flip the bill.

@wonder- I don't disagree with you that monster hunter would be needed more on the switch than the PlayStation 4 but by what point of view are you making those comments? What does that actually matter to Capcom? Just purely based on numbers the PlayStation 4 investment makes more sense if Capcom has the money but if Nintendo's flipping the bill this version makes more sense just based on funding.

Not saying you're wrong simply saying make your statement actually make sense because reading it back it's very confusing how you're making those statements because monster hunter is not going to the system that needs it more , that's actually irrelevant to Capcom overall the relevancy based on their financial situation might simply come from who could afford to pay them.

I agree with your statement if you're saying it from Nintendo's perspective to pay for its funding because that completely makes sense.

Capcom obviously made the business decision that developing the series for the 3DS was the best option for them. One, Monster Hunter is HUGE in Japan. Home consoles however, including the PS4, are not. Two, developing for the 3DS/handhelds allows Capcom a much lower budget for game design, lowering risk of return on investment. Capcom isn't made of money, and developing new games with shiny graphics takes ALOT of time, effort and cash.

@Edmix @ Sirk7 @ wonderful ..what are you talking about ? that time pS3 was selling just as good in Japan and also Sony would help Capcom upgrade bit by bit their engine for their precious IP (their engine is still PS2, and considering the photorealistic, colorful sunshined nature and huge vistas of the game, combined with the monster fantasy element i understand is most probably one of the most difficult games to make the jump intact on new consoles/engine, Capcom engine that time, MT framworks didnt have good result in RE5 or Dragons Dogm) ...yes it was needed the budget to be like Uncharted but the thing is NO Sony forced them to be like Uncharted ..could easily be as Monster HUnter 3 orignally designed , with just upgrades to geometry, lightning, textures etcetc ...but no Nintedno literally payed them alot of money to bring it on the Wii abomination as clever game designers in Ninty saw the unmatched potential and quality of the series

andrewsquall3359d ago

I know, its insane. Because NOBODY wanted a PS3 looking Monster Hunter game back in 2006 Capcom. We all said, no bring a PS3 one to a Nintendo console in 2018 lol.
Its another lazy series by a dev that would rather keep making the same PS2 looking game for over a decade. Dragon Quest went the same route for years too but it actually DOWNGRADED the next one in the series from a PS2 game with the eighth one to a N64 looking game with the ninth one on DS.
And then people all wonder why console gaming is dead in Japan when two of its biggest selling franchises ever stop being innovative and being made on the next gen console of the time..

It would be more surprising if it didn't come out on Switch. XX is just releasing in Japan and Capcom most likely feels announcing a Switch version before XX releases will lower sales so that could possibly be the reason they haven't said anything yet.

A new Monster Hunter would be nice, but a new Dragon's Dogma would be even better.

porkChop3360d ago

Man I loved that game. I really wanted a sequel.

DaFeelz3359d ago

Ok, cool. I'm not the only one. DD would be perfect for the Switch.

Wallstreet373360d ago

Bring it to me baby! I'd gladly buy it for switch and/ps4.

~25% of annual hours worked for a full-time employee, not including overtime. Doesn't seem unreasonable and kind of expected, IMHO.
