Mass Effect Andromeda has recently received a very mixed reception since its early access on Ea and Origin Access. What is your opinion on the matter?

I will start my early access preview tonight. I will play the 10 hours and decide then if I purchase it or not

Krysis3342d ago

More disagrees than agrees over a statement and not an opinion. It must be by people that are told they can't have this feature.

Unoriginalplayer3342d ago

If you like Mass Effect you will like it.

Krysis3342d ago

My favorite series of all time, I even liked 3 and never understood most of the hate it got. ME1 was my favorite, no game has ever elicited the kind of emotion that one did

Unoriginalplayer3342d ago

Without starting a war I am not too sure either what all the "hate" was about because I enjoyed 1-3 from start to finish. From the little time I had to play, it gave you that feeling of wonder and intrigue that the first one did. Tuesday can't come fast enough.

aaronaton3341d ago

Also if you enjoy watching your dog lay a turd on your freshly mowed lawn, you will like Mass Effect.

darkness6253342d ago

It got hate because, bioware promised to give 16 different endings and decisions in and from previous games effect the plot. Which were a lie cuz me3 only had abc endings. some major decisions never even matter like making anderson a councilor, but the position will always end up given to udina, loyalty to cerberus, or being forced to comply with the starchild. also the game had shitty dlc business practices most of the dlc shouldve been in the game, from ashes and citadel. overall the game felt falsely advertised.

Krysis3342d ago

I understand both sides, false promises can be a let down. But as with anything in life keep your expectations in check, I always have the wait and see approach. These kinds of promises kept alot of people from enjoying the fable series on Xbox, which I thought was another great series but also fell back on promises.

Unoriginalplayer3341d ago

Yea I think when I finally got around to ME3 the whole ending debacle was just starting to simmer down so I went into 3 with little to no expectations which probably made the experience better for me overall. Oh well, to each their own and like I've said I can not wait to get back into the universe. That 10 hour trial made the last few days tough!

There is nothing "mixed" about it. Anyway "Mass Effect: Down's Syndromeda" is the best one I have heard so far.

starchild3342d ago

That's a damn lie. The fact that you won't even acknowledge that many people like the game says everything about your intent here. For people like you this is all about selling a narrative and doing everything you can to see the game fail.

Sure, there are some people who are genuinely disappointed in certain aspects of the game--myself included--but there are also people who generally like what they're seeing and/or playing. Those riding the bandwagon seem desperate to shove their opinions down everyone else's throat and to make others conform to the negative image of the game they are trying to paint.

Ashunderfire863342d ago

what am seeing on twitch looks bad not some agenda

Krysis3342d ago

What I have played "3.5 hours" has been fun, yes the facial animations boggle me but it hasn't stopped me from enjoying the game. Combat and traversal have been excellent so far and the story is keeping me interested.

Thunder_G0d_Bane3342d ago

I've played a good 3 hours now. And I was excited for the game cause the combat looked really good.

Now I've played it the game is soul less. The combat is still good but the dialogue and characters feel shallow an the animations are really bad. I won't be getting this game.

It made me return right back to Zelda which just makes a lot of games look bad in comparison.

I started seeing the complaints about animations and got really concerned...then I started playing the game. Sure the animations aren't the best, but what it lacks in that area...it more than makes up in others. There have already been a host of great games this year....and based on what I have played so far....Mass Effect looks to be my GOTY with or without better animations....it does everything else THAT well so far. More to the point....if everyone is harping on something THAT minor...it has to make you wonder. Is that the only thing wrong with the game? Why the effort to knock it down over something so trivial ?

LordoftheCritics3342d ago (Edited 3342d ago )

My friend played it last night. Says he thinks it is hands down the best game this year on so may levels. He plays everything.

I preloaded mine. Can not wait gahhhhh..

PistolsAtDawn3342d ago

So far I agree with him....I'll have to wait till I play the full game of course, but it's shaping up that way. Halo Wars 2, Wildlands, Sniper Elite 4, and Horizon were really good, Zelda was/is amazing (and is my standing GOTY right now)....and so far Mass Effect looks to take the top spot. Then there is also Prey, State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3 RDR2, and Sea of Thieves...and probably a dozen other games that all look great this year. It really just seems odd to me the cirticism this game is getting....I have a THEORY....it's that a ton of 1-console only gamers really wanted to say that their exclusive was THE hands down best game...then it immediately got dethroned by another game that was even better than the first great game...now they want to do everything they can to trash ANOTHER great game from dethroning their chosen title. That's why it's "Animations"...like ok...they aren't the best, but they aren't horrendous either...it's such a trivial complaint. They are complaining about animations and completely ignoring massive flaws in the voice acting and story of their chosen title.

KwietStorm_BLM3342d ago

It's not just the weird animations. It's the dead look the characters give you and the odd dialogue/voice acting, that I would think would be disruptive to people playing such a story driven dialogue heavy game. The little I played and watched was pretty evident, so if it's in the whole game, that's pretty damn disappointing. If the rest of what the game does well stands out, then that's great. But we can't just ignore these blatant shortcomings either. It hurts the experience.

Why does everybody instabtly go to the extreme? I mean seriously people play abouy 1 - 2 hours of pre access and then start talking GOTY. Maybe start calling for GOTY in alphas and betas too.
Wait a week after you play through a game, gather your thoughts in more composed manner (you have that extreme excitement/"new toy"/or w/e thing going down).
We're in march people, im fine with putting a game down for your goty contender but atleast play it sir... then after that week i bet youll feel you noticed some good, some bad and maybe it either reinforces your GOTY opinion or reverses it. But atleast youll have experienced the game first so people can take you seriously.
Just saw a trailer for LIFE with jake gylennhal guess thats enough to call it film of the year.

PistolsAtDawn3342d ago

Maybe read my comments a little more thouroghly. I didn't say that it WAS GOTY, just that it has potential to go in that direction. I know enough about the game to know that it should be mentioned in consideration...not that it IS.

zuul90183342d ago

Yea before the games out nice man. This guys friend says its the best this year on so many levels.....

Jump the gun opinions blinded by initial interest. You really shouldnt be saying GOTY before the games out but yea go ahead guy im sure a lot of people take your advice on video game purchases.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio13d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing13d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9213d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit13d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing13d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9213d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

To be fair, there are also human made games that release and lack any fun at all either.

jznrpg16d ago

But all of the great games have been made by humans

jwillj2k416d ago

One is by choice, the other is a feature.

PRIMORDUS16d ago

Guild Wars 2 been playing for 14yrs, 1st beta. This is just one company I support, Arenanet and NCSoft, even though I torrent, there are a few PC companies I will buy from. "PlayStation’s Horizon MMO spin-off, Horizon Steel Frontiers." I feel this will be good, NCSoft is a good developer/publisher.

CrimsonWing6915d ago

It’s a tool. Use it elevate things and get it done faster. I’m sorry but not every game made by humans is good. If this can help things, then I fully embrace it.
