I have one question to ask. Who is this for exactly? I mean I get that Sony putting PS4 games on PSNow means that they are desperate to try and save this abomination of a service but who is it for? PC only gamers. You guys have been playing at high resolutions, 4K before anybody. Are you honestly going to PAY Sony MONEY just to stream a few games on your PC at 30fps, 720p, and severe input lag all while the games aren't even yours to own? You guys spend hundreds some even thousands of dollars upgrading your PC's. What PC gamer in their right mind buys a new GTX 1080 then goes and streams PSNow??? Lol

I mean for the most part, even PlayStation owners couldn't care less about PlayStation Now. I literally don't know anyone subbed to the service, in fact, I know people who are subbed to PSVue but not one person subbed to PSNow. PSNow is the PShome if this generation. It is a bad stain that clearly no one gives a sh*t about. Mark my words, in a few years PSNow will not even exist anymore and Sony will have to find some other clever way to use Gaikai because streaming horrible quality games is not it.

I don't see how streaming games is putting them on PC. You can't play the games natively on the hardware; you have to buy a PS Now subscription as well as a DS4 controller and adapter. You're basically getting a 720p/ 30 FPS version of the PS4 game. I'm sure the resolution is going to go up over time as the service becomes more widely used, but the superior experience of these games is going to be on PS4/ PS4 Pro. Either way, it should be a good money maker for Sony when the service catches on.

I'd point and laugh at those who think they'll be able to do away with their PlayStation systems in favor of this service, but it's more saddening than comedic.

2. All of a sudden, people really think this is good for gaming - having all games on PC, lessening the need for a home console. I just don't get this line of thinking.

I think this is going to benefit Sony more than Microsoft because Sony has more variety of games imo. But I could be wrong. Microsoft games have been on PC for a while now and they still haven't made that much profit or impact releasing their games on PC

It's really obvious that both Sony and MS are trying to expand their services and get some extra income instead of what they regularly get from PSN and Live.

Both know that the real money is in multiple subscriptions from users and not one time sales of a console.

PS Now is a streaming service and it's not like actually releasing your games on PC. There is also the fact you're gonna need to wait 2-3 years for them to add recent exclusives on it.

Sony is doing what's best for them, and that's making money first. They're not going to just put their games that you can't get anywhere else onto the PC just because you think it's "good for gaming." This is a business. You could even argue that platforms having these exclusives are good for gaming, since the cream rises to the top for everyone.

We need to know more about what sony are planning. We don't know which ps4 games will be on the service. Will exclusives be on it? If so, which ones? Until we know more, we can't really gauge how this will affect things.

I don't get why people get mad about this pc is to Microsoft what vita is to ps4 and 3rd is to whatever crappy console Nintendo puts out. I guess if a game comes to ps4 and vita it's still not exclusive. Microsoft is pushing a service in Xbox. Doesn't bother me at all.

It's good if the games are PC/PS4 or PC/Xbox One but not really PC/PS4/Xbox One. At least if it's PC/PS4 or PC/Xbox One then cross-play can be added a lot easier to help the game no matter what platform it's on if it has multiplayer.

PS4 fanboys are hurt, because they were talking so much smack to Xbox fans. In reality, it makes much more sense for Sony to put their games on PC because Sony has probably sold most of the PS4s that they are gonna sell, and now through PS Now they have an opportunity to make even more money.

It sucks that Sony is doing this and devaluing the PS4.But as long as they don't add their games until 2-3 years after release I'm cool.

Look at it this way:

You can have Netflix and you can own the blu-ray. There's a market for both, but only one allows for ownership. And with ownership comes the ability to let your friends borrow it and you don't need your Internet to watch it. Sure, streaming is cheaper, but at least you can be certain that a market exists for both types of gamers. That, and you don't lose access for not paying your sub.

I'm a Netflix guy, but I'm sure as hell going to keep buying my games.

Enough with the, no exclusives on consoles. Both Microsoft and Sony have games and exclusives in their own separate ecosystems. You want a game or exclusive from Microsoft, you are going to Xbox or windows to get it, and if you want something from Sony you will go to them and get it. At the end of the day enjoy what you have, both companies are try to grow and expand like any other company and they are trying different things to do that.

I see a lot of points being made except for the obvious one, and that's that you won't be playing newly released PS4 games on PSNow. The publishers would lose way too much money including their new games on PSNow. That includes exclusives, when GoW drops it likely won't be made available on PSNow until at least a couple years later. If all PS exclusives games are eventually made available on PC, then that means they're technically timed exclusive lol. Which most would be ok with considering you'd get to play awesome games way before PC players do.

they will be older games on a streaming service which isn't the same thing as what MS is doing.

I like exclusives because i believe it creates healthy competition and in turn the in house devs work harder and are given more resources in order to help sell the console. this is why Sony has made some of the great games, the last of us, horizon, so on and so forth, that pc hasn't been able on its own to do.
consoles drive the main stream market.

If Sony decides one day in the future to release new games on the service it will mean the end of consoles the way it is now, and I'm am afraid we will lose quality in future games.

Streaming is DRM:the next generation. Now you REALLY don't own anything. Plus blown data caps and glitchy play is the norm. Screw that, the day they go to all streaming is the day I don't game any more.

You think I am /s, but I'm not. PS Now wants to be your games Netflix, and Sony wants to drop hardware, in favor of making exclusive games for their subscription channel -- because yep, that's where the money is. Why sell hardware at a break even, and lose millions in creating and advertising it, when people can just play on their PC or tablet instead?

a) if you have the Internet capable of playing these games stably, most won't I have good Internet but using ps now has been abit of a pain. b) Sony haven't said what games will be offered, old ones only you can bet for starters plus I wouldn't be surprised if few or none of their exclusives are on the platform for now. Yet again though most won't have the Internet capable of playing this well thus hardware is going nowhere and won't be affected in the slightest by this ps now has been a Meh service so far. Wouldn't be surprised if it remains meh and the plan is to get players to try an exclusive or two then go "buy a ps4 and play it in higher quality without input lag etc" and see people buy the console to play it in higher resolution and better quality.

I'm unfamiliar with PS Now anyone here use it, like whats the most current game you can stream on it, Horizon? Is it really the same as Microsoft putting their exclusives day and date on PC at the same time the come out on xbone? Just curious.

All games will be streamed (hybrid stream/some local assets) in the future anyway, exclusives will be tied to Publishers and licenses with the available streaming services, i.e. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, et cetera. Just as examples. I'm sure there will be some dedicated to gaming, but there is no reason the big boys in the streaming industry won't jump on board.

next gen i'm just gonna buy a pc instead. for the price I've paid for ps4 and ps4 pro, ps+ all the games I've bought and inevitably a xbox scorpio, I could just buy a beasty pc and pay ps now and will probs still save money. thank you sony, this way I still get to play the good games and not have to buy a playstation console again. after this gen bullshit ps+ games, forcing ps+ and the whole refusing refunds on falsely advertised products. now you can actually use #fortheplayers as you've done us a massive solid.

You can stream old old ps4 games on PC and play new one so through remote play. Still need a console, but you effectively always have an option of a place to play PS4 games whence yo buy one. That's pretty cool without giving up the reason to buy a PS4.

Xbox Play Anywhere is a good option as well. Then you hardly have any need to buy an Xbox One.

We all see what happened to Microsoft when they decided to put their games on pc, sales for the console dropped significantly and people don't see the value of investing in it if they can play xbox games on pc. Great idea.. for all the PS folk trying to think of ways to spin PSNow. If you don't need a PS4 to play their games then they aren't exclusive to that platform anymore I'm afraid. Doesn't matter if the quality isn't as good.. you can still play the game on PC.
