If Switch isn't 9th gen, then Wii U is 7th gen and Wii is 6th gen

fenome3351d ago

We've pretty much seen their slow descent to mobile since the GameCube.

mikeslemonade3351d ago

The Switch is barely ahead of the PS3 generation. It's a .5 ahead of that generation so it's gonna be 1.5 generation behind the ps5

Omnislashver363351d ago

It's going the way of Wii U, easy. It's going to cost a fortune to play a select few underpowered games, and the thing doesn't even function well. They should have went with a real console. I wouldn't even mind if they kept motion controls for certain games. Just make the nun-chucks optional and let people play on the big screen. But this thing just offers gimmicks at every corner. I doubt it'll outsell X1 or X2 tbh, and they don't even have exclusives.

Furthermore once PS5 comes it's going to absolutely demolish Switch. Backwards compatibility and 4K60 updates for select PS4 games from the getgo. Once it launches, Switch won't even have a chance to react. By then, most people will realize Switch has nothing but underpowered gimmicks and hardly functions as a portable. It'll go the way of Wii U.

It's going to hit 60 million easy and everything after that is just gravy. It is brilliant in terms of functionality in giving people the option to play not just anywhere but anyway, and letting them play multiplayer on the go with one machine. It's a walking advertisement for itself. You've never even used one if you think it doesn't work as a portable, and Nintendo has many exclusives you're just straight up clueless on that.

Also Switch owners obviously don't care that it doesn't do 4k 60. That's not necessary to make a good game nor is the switch a replacement for a PS4. Specs aren't everything, and if it bothers you, you should know there are mid range PC's that MURDER(!!) your ps4 pro, and yet the PS4 still sells.

"it's going to hit 60 million easy..."

God you are delusional. Nintendo will be lucky if the Switch sells half of that.

MultiConsoleGamer3351d ago

It's not competing with the other consoles so it will be just fine.

In before insecure "nuh uh" replies from console fanboys who don't really understand the market.

MRMagoo1233351d ago

no , I think everyone can agree the switch isn't even close to competing with the other consoles.

MultiConsoleGamer3351d ago

Not for the reasons you think, which are all wrong.

...Like it or not the Switch is not some magic little special snowflake. It shares a market with many other competitors, and pretending otherwise is exactly why Nintendo finds itself consistently losing out to the competition. I mean, there's a reason why they started making mobile games, ya' know?

MultiConsoleGamer3351d ago

No, it really doesn't. There's a thing called "blue ocean strategy." You should learn about it, you might discover that it's a very interesting subject. Basically instead of competing for a shared market, you create your own market. Nintendo exists in the "Nintendo market." People buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games. Nintendo can support any piece of hardware entirely on their own. 3rd party titles are just the icing on the cake. No Nintendo console, ever, has been dependent upon 3rd party titles in the way that Sony and Microsoft have been throughout their entire time in the gaming industry.

There's more cross over between Apple and Nintendo products than there is between Sony / MS and Nintendo. And that's a big part of the reason why Nintendo is making spin off titles for the mobile market. Of course you do know that Sony is also making mobile titles? Right? Meanwhile Xbox and PlayStation are two halves of the same coin, and both are competing with the ever growing and increasingly accessible PC market. Eventually both brands will evolve into a Netflix style gaming service, but that's many years down the road. Their best content will eventually be available on everything from tablets, PC and even smart TVs. No more boxes for the kiddies to argue about.

Of course some companies don't believe in the "blue ocean" philosophy. A former head of Sony once said that he saw every form of entertainment as competition for his brand. This included things like reading a book or riding your bike. I personally believe that's an outdated philosophy and many people in the business world agree with me.

You know what lives in the blue ocean? Whales. Look up the term "Whales" when it comes to mobile marketing strategies, it might open your eyes a little bit.

Switch is barely an 8th gem console since they got rid of there 7 th gem wiiu by the time ps5 and the next Xbox come out that when the 9 generation will begin where Nintendo will have no doubt they will abandon switch for s new. Console guaranteed switch may last 4 year and they will launch a new console by the time the other 2 come out

Fire Emblem: The Three Houses Review - Analog Stick Gaming

"When Three Houses was announced for the Nintendo Switch, I was more hyped for this than almost any game currently available on the platform. While its story doesn’t quite live up to the previous entries I’ve enjoyed, mostly due to some poorly handled reveals and its failure to offer us up a compelling villain, Three Houses succeeds greatly due to its vast replayability with new game plus, and yet another memorable cast to add to the franchise.
