Giving exclusives to an iterative console is a really bad idea

I think they can make it competitive by making 1st party games with quality? You know when the devs are ready to release the game/when the cake is baked perfectly?

Well, with the good possibility that the scorpio may have PC games on it, and E3 right around the corner, I believe MS has some Aces up their sleeves.

I'm going to still wait and see. I may get a pro sometime in the future as well, but I have a good feeling that Sony is going to have an answer for the Scorpio, so I'll just wait for now. Hell, I don't even have a 4k TV yet.. so all I can do is wait!

we don't even know what scorpio is launching with unless somebody saw something i didn't. i've been following it pretty closely though. also - the ps5 is likely to be 2019.

People need to stop talking about the Scorpio as if it was a new generation. It's not, it's the same thing as the PS4 pro, a mid-gen upgrade.

The Scorpio is a mid gen upgrade just like the pro. Blame Sony for being cheap with their refresh. MS has stated they will show games at E3 and plan on doing an event before E3 to showcase their new hardware. Buuut since it's MS then this is a bad idea or a sign that they have no new games smdh. How much of a simpleton do you have to be to believe this? And its funny how really just this year Sony has finally gotten some decent exclusives that isnt some weird japnese rpg that 90% of gamers dint care about. MS has been having the exclusives while ps only gamers had to settle for COD or Destiny and where you got an exclusive it was the equivalent to BvS....all hype and no substance but I forgot that the lot of you idiots have short memories and easily manipulated by Sony into believing that waiting for exclusives is better than playing them. Congrats to finally getting decent exclusives...finally. Scorpio will be fine and it will have games...and the good part is that we wont have to wait 3 years to get them.

Its like 6-8 months to get a fully developed game for launch? Not happening. Wont have games that was developed for this for a few years. Going to be upscaled games only for awhile.

What it needs is 4k support for everything at launch! Many people will buy a Scorpio who have not bought an X1 yet like myself. So Gears, Halo, and as many other games as possible.

And yeah, something akin to TLoU, Horizon, Zelda, something. They had Mass Effect last gen!

It's not competing with the PS5, it's a premium console that's competing directly with the Pro and PS4. But still the point stands, it needs better games in general not just launch titles. Right now I do not think many ppl care about Sea of Thieves, Crackdown, or Cuphead. Not to mention Halo and Gears don't have the same relevance they did 8 years ago. They need new IP that will resonate with gamers, and as of right now they have nothing, until e3 at least. MS made their mistake long ago by allowing the PS4 to dominate the market prior to hitting their stride in terms of first party games. Now the big guns are coming and I don't see many ppl jumping ship to game on a different platform. Sure there are plenty of ppl that will just own both, but they don't represent the majority of consumers. In an era where on average consoles cost $400, most ppl can only afford to buy one.

The only 2 decent exclusive that M$ got is GoW and Halo and neither of those 2 games are system sellers, so all M$ could do at this point is depend on 3rd party games

There won't be any more XBox exclusives at all, period. If you mean, on the Scorpio/PC instead of One/Scorpio/PC, then yeah, by late 2018 there might be a couple, but it probably will have a small install base.

I believe Sony is not going to be in any rush to make the PS5 because even with a new Xbox console, PS4 is going to still dominate the market.

Remember what happened in the PS2 golden era? PS2 was the weakest console, Microsoft had a more powerful console back them and still PS2 dominated the market. Why? Because of its amazing library of games which is exactly what is happening now.

PS3 was more powerful than the Xbox 360 and what happened? Xbox was winning at first but once Sony focused on making exclusive games for PS3, they came back and surpassed the 360.

Microsoft can make a more powerful console, they already did in the past, but they will never have a better library of exclusive games than Sony. Power alone is not the key.

The Scorpio is basically MS answer to the smartphone business model.
Scorpio is releasing with the promise that all Scorpio game will also be released on Xbox1, but expect to see MS release another Xbox (let's call it Banana) near PS5 with the promise that any Banana game will also run on the Scorpio and that any previous digital Xbox/1/Scorpio/win10/360 games will be compatible on the Banana just like your phone.

forza on its own is enough to sell 50 million Scorpios, that pirate game probably another 15 mil and that cloud game will push it over the 100 million mark

I predict scorpio pulling a Nintendo switch move. Crackdown 3 will be on scorpio launch an xb1. It will sell regardless because it is still less than a new Apple iPhone and apparently people have money to burn on those things.

It needs features. Good ones. Really really good ones. We already know how Microsoft handles software. We aren't getting anything different from them. If they nail absolutely ambitious and new features they'll do good.

For the money the Scorpio will go for, people will be better off buying beefy graphics cards for their PCs.Almost every modern home has a PC already,it's just a matter of buying a better card.That way people can play their favorite multiplayer games for free and get new games for <$45 as opposed to being conned.

It doesn't "need" them it would be an icing on the cake type of thing. All they have to do is keep saying what they've been saying all along. That it's still current gen just premium version just like PS4 pro. Same thing. Come out and say that they have worked with 1st, 2nd and third party developers and that every game released will have a "boost" mode. Then all games out whether exclusive or not will look better on Scorpio. End of story. And disclaimer I'm no fanboy. Fanboys are what make the industry seem so juvenile.

After the ps4 / pro death bombs like Horizon, God of War, Day Zero, Uncharted 4 PLUS the Nintendo Switch exclusives like Zelda, Mario, Smash, and whatever other exclusives coming MS has a LONG UPHILL road ahead of themselves. Idk if they have it in them to be honest. Remember all Scorpio games MUST play xb1s PC and xb1.... I really don't know how its going be possible. Timed exclusives won't count I'm afraid.

The number of you who are banking that consoles will ever have another generation is astounding... it is like you are actually retarded. Should we convince developers to build on a new hardware platform that will have limited users or should we continue to build on the Scorpio/Pro ideology where you scale it back for older hardware just like on PC? Hmmmmm so fucking hard to decide.... There will not ever be another PS/XB "new" console generation, just stop it with that shit. They are closed architecture operating systems, like a Mac. The compatibility and scalability of a PC with the closed architecture of a console, aka a developers wet dream.

the loss of scalebound was a huge hit for ms. that was the game that i was going to buy an xb1, or even a scorpio for, if it turned out to be good. now their line-up is very "meh" this year. the only games i can even think of that i'd wanna play on the xb now is gears and mebe halo, but those aren't system sellers so much as just filler games that i'd get if i already happened to have one.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
