Machine was so rushed they couldnt even catch that the dock was scratching screens? Its a great question on whether or not they will replace all docks in the future...and what about those units with scratched screens? Do they replace the screen? The whole fing unit???

I mean I get it...msoft and sony both had the same problems with their home consoles at launch...oh wait, no they didnt because they released REAL home consoles and not this hybred monster handheld/garbage home console.

For what's inside it, it ain't worth $90.

The faulty dock design is just one of many design flaws found in the Switch:

- Cheap plastic screens that are easily scratched by the very dock that Nintendo bundles with the Switch (and will take heavy abuse from normal daily use)
- Stuck/dead pixels and flickering screens
- Very poor wifi performance
- Frame rate issues for BotW when docked, yet the game only runs at 900p (a bad sign when the flagship game for the system can't perform well on the hardware, particularly in its docked mode)
- plastic clip parts on joycons that wear down over a short period of time when the joycons are removed and replaced during routine use (parts that are supposed to keep the units firmly attached to the Switch)
- Desynching issues with joycons
- Poor placement of charging port (can't charge while using the kickstand)

And that's just the issues that have surfaced in the few days since launch. Far from a solid piece of gaming technology. It really seems like Nintendo completely dropped the ball on the design of the Switch, and failed to properly test it for problems before they launched it. All of these problems are damaging their reputation, if they don't take extreme measures, they're going to have a very rough road ahead of them.

Switch may have been a big mistake for Nintendo. Now I know the reason why they release low stock. It's a test stock for flaws which they didn't do because they rushed it out.

I'm starting to get less and less excited about this system.

Ill say this also, for $300 I want some facking gorilla glass, not some cheap facking plastic on a 720 display!

Honestly...They should have marketed the switch as a handheld because I have yet to use it as a console..Been playing botw I'm portable mode since I bought the switch...And it's awesome

the price was 60 at nintendo store, but they charge 90 other places, so I am guessing everyone took advantage of the cheaper price, even I was thinking about it

There's a lot of friction between plastic contact surfaces. As a YouTube reviewer showed, it took less than 10 "docking" actions to scratch the Switch screen. If the dock was felt or microfiber on the interior (crazy, but swank) and the Switch had a glass screen, the dock would be a selling point rather than costing potentially hundreds of millions of dollars in damaged hardware. Nintendo has always been cheapskates with their hardware, and it's going to bite them this time around.

They had a couple dozen reports about screen scratches, but they seem to be from a bad batch of docks. They have de-listed current stock from being sold while they investigate the issue to see if its one particular batch or a whole product line issue.
If its a single batch problem, they will scrap the batch that is still in warehouse, locate the manufacture issue and fix it, and replace it quickly with new batches and then offer a replacement to anyone with screen damage issues that make a complaint to them.
If it turns out to be a widespread design fault rather than a manufacturing one, they will keep stock unavailable for shipping and figure out a design fix. Once its fixed, they will replenish stocks in the retail chains and issue a full recall of the original docks.
They won't do this though if it happens to be just 5,000 units that were created with a fault in the manufacture process, instead containing the situation by offering a much quieter, and lower volume replacement service. A full recall will only happen if its not at manufacture level but rather a full design issue that affects all docks.

I heard that the dock is made very cheaply and has been damaging the screens on the switch itself just after using it a few times. Not really sure how Nintendo screwed that up somehow. I feel sorry for whoever got their new console/handheld damaged, I be pissed if that happened to me. Let's hope they are designing it better so people can have a smoother time putting the switch in and out of the dock.

I'm still wondering how this dock can cost $90 and still not feature an Ethernet port

I cannot believe the console was released with the amount of serious flaws it has. No, i'm not bashing Nintendo. I own the switch and think it's an awesome device. Although I've yet to experience any of them so far, the laundry list of issues that keep arising is astounding. The scratching, dead pixels and joycon issues are not acceptable. The worst part is these aren't software fixes. They are all hardware related and that is a MAJOR screw up for a company as big as Nintendo. All we can ask as consumers is that they do the right thing and admit to the faults of this machine. They need to fix and replace anything and everything for people who are experiencing any of these issues. If they don't they will be in a PR nightmare they wish they'd never seen.

I've had zero issues with mine, no scratches or controller issues. Since launch night, I've probably put 15 hours of time on the console. At work on my lunch portable mode, and at home docked. I've yet to ever worry about charging my controllers for docked mode in the grip(which 12 hours of the 15 have been, and thats after a morning of sleep mode, play for an hour at lunch and more sleep mode until I am home. No need for the charger grip). I've taken the console out of the dock numerous times. If you are slamming it in there or not putting it in straight, I could see an issue possibly, but it really is common sense. I am a designer and have to worry about it while at work, so I guess you really have to factor out commonsense when it comes to decision time lol. All and all, don't undsrstand how people are having problems.....

During the wii, after people started breaking things with the remotes, the made a clear wrap that went around the controllers. I got them for free you just needed to submit a request.
Maybe it'll work the same with the dock, fill out a request and get it swapped for free

Switch seems like it's been nothing but a disaster from day 1. Once again, buy a WiiU used and zelda and you will be set! With a bigger and far better amount of games for cheap, free online and more about console games, you will be much better off. That tablet doesn't seem like it even fits properly in its docking station at all. Scratches up the screen trying to slide it out. What a nightmare Nintendo has become!

how the hell did they not know these issues the console was obviously rushed but seriously i can't make sense in how a company that's been in the console business since like 1983 thought any of this was acceptable in testing it for release from the beginning and not noticed any of these issues in everything of the console design and controller design everything about this console is flawed in so many way's it's hard to believe it was even produced by nintendo like what the hell were their reasons behind this what were they thinking? then to not take responsibility for extremely obvious defects. we got bad design, cheap hardware, over priced and over priced accessories, barely any memory, can't back up your saves, the joy cons are not sturdy in the slide holsters they wiggle connected on the tablet, attachments get stuck, joy cons don't sync properly or at all, console bricking in general, screen getting dead pixels or flipping out in general, the whole thing is flawed.

i was one of the people trying to get one at launch but thank god there weren't any left for me to grab im not buying jack till i know everything is fixed and properly working. i understand gadgets having issues here and there being first released but damn.

The Nintendo Switch should come with a screen protector.

There's a serious design problem with this dock. There's absolutely no way it's not going to scratch the screen of the tablet over time. Especially when you consider kids using the product. This needs to be fixed ASAP, and Nintendo should offer a refund and / or exchange for people who bought the original model.

I read some articles and watched some Youtube videos where people were saying the dock was very poorly made and was scratching the face of the Switch, maybe this has to do with why they were pulled.

Is there any tech in that front panel?

Seems superfluous to have it cover the screen; if the dock was more open on the front, gamers could utilise the consoles built screen whilst playing on the TV.

The console is a mess.

Controllers stuck together, screens not working. crashing and It's top game barely manages 20-30fps @ 900p.

Nintendo just stop making hardware.
