I've also been having problems with my Pro. Sometimes the system will just go to a black screen for no reason for a few seconds and then cut back in. The main problem though from day one has been the system when starting or stopping a game or application will sometimes cause the screen to go black and start to flicker at the edges. Turning the system off then back on helps sometimes, but most times I would have to turn the system off and on several times before the image is back on the screen.

It seems as though when that happens the HDR signal is not being recieved, I say this because any time the problem happens I dont get the HDR symbol at the top of the screen of my LG 49" model 49UHD6500. When it is working correctly, at the start of a game the HDR symbol will show.

I know the rest of the system is working cause I can hear the system sounds when using the controller or still hear the game music. Very rarely instead of a black flickering screen I will have a white flickering screen. Also when using PS Vue, Netflix, Hulu or even Youtube i will also have flickering, especially in the lower left hand corner. There will be a rectangle type of flickering going on and then stop as suddenly as it started, but the image will still be on the screen.

Also I've noticed while playing Final FantasyXV that while in the car the image of the speedometer will shimmer as if more than one image is being displayed. This same thing has been happening in Horizon also in the top right at the level progression, but only when I'm on one of the robots riding.

I've already called Sony and they've sent me a box to return the console to them, but I couldn't wait to play Horizon so I will ship it to them after I finish the game.

I have the same problem with losing the HDR signal and the screen going black then coming back. Can happen quite often at times.

It's probably a handshaking issue with HDR copy protection. I have the same LG model you do except the 65" version.

Unfortunately, doing any search tends to only return stuff about the initial problems with LG TV's not supporting the HDR.

More unfortunately, most of the fixes don't seem to work across the board, so it's kind of a crap shoot.

So far, just using a different HDMI cable is working, but I haven't played it much since making that change. Some other solutions were to force the different YUV settings, changing the input on the TV itself, although that shouldn't matter since all three HDMI inputs support HDR on our TV's.

There are a few threads on the PS forums about it which give possible solutions, but mostly just people complaining. Hopefully this fix will solve that issue. Most seem to agree it's an issue with PS4 and not the TV since it can happen with other TV makes. Also doesn't seem to be a wide spread problem, because despite having quite a few people with the problem, there are relatively few people complaining about it. Maybe just luck of the draw.

Thanks for the response. I was wondering if it was an effect of the early problem with HDR and many UHD tvs, but since the tv now is working in full HDR I figured that maybe the system was dropped in transit to GameStop or while in the store.

I've already switched out the HDMI plugs many times and still the problem arises. While on the phone with Sony after buying the PRO they also said to try switching the HDMI plugs which helped initially, but its still happens. Other people have suggested that I buy Monster HDMI cables but I'm not sure if that will fix the problem or just give me a much sharper picture as those giving the advice seem to think it will.

As you said its more than likely just a defective product and luck of the draw. Its why I usually never buy any system day one as I always see people complain about issues and then have to wait for a fix. I jumped out the window with this one and now im "suffering" because I went against my normal mindset.

It gets very annoying having to turn your system on and off several times just to get a game/app to start
or stop and keep the image on the screen. I don't want to rush through Horizon to ship the Pro to be fixed but i do want the system to be fixed or replaced.
