If this turns out to be true then that is absolutely insane... How did that pass through r&d! Still... doubling the range is one thing, solving the connectivity yet to be established.

It's 100% true.

Nintendo Advises Switch Owners With Joy-Con Connectivity Issues To Avoid Bundles Of Wires, Aquariums
http://kotaku.com/nintendo-...

Ensure that the Nintendo Switch console is placed to minimize interference with the Joy-Con. It is best if the Nintendo Switch console is placed out in the open and that it is not:

-Behind a TV
-Near an aquarium
-Placed in or under a metal object
-Pressed against a large amount of wires and cords
-Within three to four feet of another wireless device, such as a wireless speaker or a wireless access point.

Check for possible sources of interference and turn them off. Interference can be caused by devices, such as:

-Cell phones, laptops, tablets, etc.
-Wireless headsets
-Wireless printers
-Microwaves
-Wireless speakers
-Cordless phones
-USB 3.0-compatible devices such as hard drives, thumb drives, LAN adapters, etc.

For some reason news sites aren't making this as known as they should be.

Kramerica133376d ago

I've actually seen a lot of sites report that.

Really insane suggestions from Nintendo in any case.

Dre1803376d ago

I have experienced none of these issues myself, and a launch i always expect some glitches. But if this is as widespread as it seems to be, this is a major screw up and embarrassment for Nintendo, and they are going to have to compensate each and every switch owner who is experiencing issues. What about those who aren't experiencing any issues at the moment but may later on bc the hardware may be flawed? This is a total mess. Nintendo needs to acknowledge and fix this instead of telling people where not to use it. Literally every single one of those things on the list is almost impossible to avoid - minus the aquarium. Royal screw up if true

darthv723376d ago

the problem with the controller / wireless is two fold. one being the placement of the module in the switch inside the metal shielding as opposed to just outside like many other devices that use an embedded controller for these things. The metal shielding cuts down on the effective signal strength of the wifi as well as the controllers.

The second one being the antenna in the controller itself and how its positioned. We can deduce that adjusting the piece in the controller helps but it can also be assumed that a small piece of shielding cut from above where the wireless module is would result in better signal reception as well.

Damn this sucks that they didnt think to do either of these things before mass production.

This is pretty sloppy.

What's going on at Nintendo? I just saw The Guardian published a story saying Nintendo are telling customers it's their fault for getting dead pixels!! WTF?

bouzebbal3376d ago

I said some days ago switch feels like a successful school project, this really joins that idea.
Hopefully nothing bad.

You'd think for the price they cost that the Joycons would actually work...

SoulMikeY3376d ago

I've seen more articles than reported problems. I only know 12 people with switches, but not one of them has had an issue. This kind of seems like they're not being smart with their consoles. Like guys, coffee is served HOT. haha

Platinumwoody3376d ago

Mine was fine until I put them behind my back, instantly the left joycon did it just like everyone stated, not that I'm going to play with them behind my back, it's definitely a negative though as this doesn't happen to any other game pad I've ever had.

Neonridr3376d ago

Mine work fine, for what it's worth..

SoulMikeY3376d ago

Do you see that when you say it's all good, people disagree? This means people feel threatened by this. They don't want your shit to be fun and cool.

I've noticed n4g has down spiraled into a cess pool of haters. I'm a gamer, I own all three consoles. It's okay for people to like something you don't. It's a show of bad character when you want something that's irrelevant to you to fail.

Then the one dude that's not completely illiterate will reply, and all the rest of the sheep will follow. Smh

jaymacx3376d ago

@SoulMikeY Truer words have never been spoken.

When something is good for Nintendo they downplay it.. when something is bad they blow it up..
Truth is every hardware has issues at launch (they eventually get fixed with updates or in the case of hardware they replace them)..I remember people complaining about HDMI handshake issues with PS4 and the thumbsticks having cheap rubber that wears down easy... Xbox one having sync issues with the Controller... Now its Switch with the sync issues. Wireless is a very finicky thing.

DashArrivals3376d ago

5 disagrees in 10 hours. I think you should really shut up and stop overreacting. Nintendo have their share of 'haters' as well. Congratulations on owning all the consoles. You're one glorious man.

ShottyatLaw3375d ago

Agree there is too much hate, but some disagrees may be people like me who actually are experiencing these problems.

I traded my second set of joy cons in for a Pro Pad Friday evening because TV mode is unplayable in my obstruction-free living room. Yes, there are trolls eager to see things fail just because their Mom wouldn't buy them one. On the other hand, there are some of us that are dealing with a real problem and just want it fixed.

Neonridr3375d ago

meh.. I could care less. Just giving my 2 cents.

Lots of people like to latch on to things and complain, even though many of them don't even own the device to begin with.

I just like to offer my personal experience as a reference point. It doesn't bother me in the slightest if people click the disagree button. I'm not 4, my feelings can take it :P

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle35d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments
