Playing the Blame Game! Just admit that you bit off more than you could chew and apologize, then hope for the best.

OoglyBoogly3373d ago

Despite you having more downvotes then upvotes I agree with you completely. While I've no doubt that Hello Games will approach the No Man's Sky greatness they talked about and showed off prior to release after some more updates, there's no denying that what we got and the lack of features the game had at launch was due to just inexperience and small team size.

johndoe112113373d ago

The reason why both him and you are getting more down votes is due to the fact that you both are talking crap and obviously did not read the article. What blame game are they playing exactly? Who are they blaming in the article and what are they blaming them for? Read the damn article THEN comment. They aren't throwing blame at anyone.

NMS is an indie game that tried to reach the AAA games. It lacked in many things but it excelled in many things too.

Summary of the article.
1: the foundation update made the whole game change to the better, especially the terrains.
2: Hello Games were too small and understaffed to handle the sheer number of players. They were expecting 14k players to be online first day.
3: running out of money while still making the game.
4: the new foundation update reached 1 million players.
5: Hello Games will still continue to support the game and other procedural generated games in the future.

IMO, the game's concept is unique and exciting. however, the game lacked in many aspects of an AAA title, which we believed or hoped it to be.

I still think he didn't lie about multiplayer. He did say it's a very rare chance to see another player and that the game is not aimed to be multiplayer. he even said even if we see another player it wouldn't be easily spotted, but it is possible. and about the amazing trailers of the game which in reality there were many ugly planets with ugly creatures, well, it's a trailer! obviously they will put the best, but still, they should have shown some of those boring planets. but that's why there are reviews right? who would buy a game without seeing its reviews?

the game's concept is amazing, if only they could add more stuff to do in the game. like making bases, form clans, maybe start a civilization if a player wanted etc. that would be amazing but it won't be NMS anymore.

@theKiller

You must have not read much about the game then. You say "I still think he didn't lie about multiplayer. He did say it's a very rare chance to see another player and that the game is not aimed to be multiplayer. he even said even if we see another player it wouldn't be easily spotted, but it is possible."

Well, think again.

"He did say it's a very rare chance to see another player"
Two players met less then a day after release. A famous meme even ensued after that "Mind blown", because he ignored all the questions regarding this as it was happening. Some, very early on after release started their new game to find themselves on a planet that was already visited. . Lie #1

"even if we see another player it wouldn't be easily spotted, but it is possible"
The aformentionned two players, and others after that, proved that you can't see anyone, after meeting at the same spot, even taking a picture of it. Lie #2

And there are many other lies. It's "mind blowing" to me that people still defend this dude. I have no doubt that they were overwhelmed, but it doesn't excuse the silence or the multiple blatant lies when he was interviewed, which he never denied when given the occasion, even close to release.

Who the hell exactly are they blaming in the article? Or did you just decide to pull that accusation out your.......................... .pie hole? reading the bloody article before making crap comments helps a lot.

ifrit_caress3373d ago

There he goes making excuses when he was the one driving the hype-train. You took on more than you could handle and let your fans down with big promises and small delivery. I would have more respect for you if you admitted that.

spaceg0st3373d ago

and then disappeared post launch! cowardly

_-EDMIX-_3373d ago

Agreed.

I know the game was hyped, but they had no excuse not telling their fan base how much was removed from those demos. We have demos of this game with features that are STILL not in the game and the team has never stated what happened to them.

OoglyBoogly3373d ago

Exactly. I know I still have yet to see a giant land snake or found giant shipwrecks. And this was stuff that was there when they FIRST showed the game off.

Look, I enjoyed the game and the Foundation Update made it better but it's maddening when people act like nothing was wrong with it or they didn't lie.

TheVetOfGaming3373d ago

The idea was great, but the actual game wasn't.

OoglyBoogly3373d ago

I don't think that's really true. The game play itself and how stuff handles...for me...was pretty decent. It was just the over all lack of content and stuff to do that wasn't great.

_-EDMIX-_3373d ago

So they confirming the lies or what?

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio30d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing30d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9230d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit30d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing30d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9230d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
