Why the iPod touch Makes the iPhone Irrelevant

Maclife writes: "Have you had a chance to touch the new iPod touch? It's a beautiful gadget--slim, shiny, with the comfy, curvy feel in your hand like it just belongs there. When you're holding the iPod touch, it's impossible to be jealous of fellow subway denizens clutching Nintendo DSes, Sony PsPs, or for that matter, iPhone 3Gs. Because even though it's not a smartphone, the touch is a portable entertainment and communications device par excellence. It does the Web. It does email. It does IM."

Yes, but you can't make or receive a phone call on it! That makes my 3G very relevant when someone is trying to call me.

I can do everything the Touch does and more.

And it is a great phone so far. Glad I cancelled my Telus contract so that I could get it.

Don't forget the built in camera and speakers. LOL. This article is a joke.

LOL. More like Why the iPhone makes the iPod touch irrelevant.

It makes the iPhone irrelevant because it does ALMOST AS MUCH?

Excellent logic.

I might sell my car because my bicycle makes it irrelevant. Sure I'll get wet in the rain and it'll take me five times longer to get somewhere, but it can do ALMOST as much as my car. It's awesome!

That is half the size if not smaller than the iPhone. I bought the iTouch because it was the only one that had a 32gb model and the 16gb model iPhone did not have enough memory for my goodies. I will say that the iTouch has made my PSP pretty jealous. lol

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

Scissorman23d ago

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
