It’s one of the those games that for everything you find enjoyable something comes along to counterbalance it and pull the experience back down to Earth. Despite this I did find myself having a pretty good time with the game and once it gets in its ‘groove’ it becomes a pretty solid action-RPG & dungeon crawler, but you do have to put up with quite a few nagging pitfalls on your way up the Devil’s Tower. So if you’re on the fence about giving Ys Origin a try or aren’t sure if this is the type of game for you then this review’s for you!"

I've been playing through it for the first time on the Switch. It's pretty good. It's scratched my action RPG itch a bit and it's a unique game for the series. I would love to see a 3rd person remake one day.

Ys: Memories of Calceta was the best Vita game I have ever played. It was perfect on that system.
