maybe its just me, but after being in the Home beta for awhile now I would not count on it being that big of a difference maker for the PSN. It may just be me but I find it incredibly boring and of almost no value to my gaming or network experience. Hope the final version will be better.

I think xbox live has a slight edge..I actually use PSN more, but they should make the comparison when NXE and HOME updates come out..Then we can argue all day..although with all the stuff coming NXE is in my opinion gonna have a slight edge as well with the Netflix and the use of Sirius radio..but i'm a costumer of both so i guess im being a lil bias..PSN will be awesome too..plus its free..whats not to like about that.

It all comes down to preference. Some people prefer Live, some prefer PSN. It can go back and forth all day:

"Everyone has a headset on Live"
"There aren't as many douchebags on PSN"

"Live is better."
"PSN is free."

"You can do cross game chats/invites/etc on Live."
"Live has been out for 6 years. PSN is getting there."

Granted these examples are kind of one-sided, they simply illustrate that whatever the person thinks is better, they will find ways to justify it as being better.

I prefer psn.

But after using live for quite some time every day or so, I'm gonna say that it's a pretty good service.

Then again, it wasn't me that was paying for it ;D

In conclusion I've dealt with both xbox live and psn and yes xbox does have a slight edge but at the end of the day its just as easy to connect to a game on live as in PSN. I love it when xbox fans make baseless comments that LIVE will ALWAYS be better.

for me I use my 360 95 percent of the time, 100 percent of the time for online gaming.i bought warhawk(download) an hated it, MGS4 online sucks we all know that.XBL is just TO EASY to set up a game an play. I can chat with a friend while im watching a movie an he's playing a game. can you do that on the PSN, NO!!! I can send text messages to my 360 or my friends 360 from my PC, can you do that with the PSN NO!! is there a web site dedicated to the PSN like it is with the 360(xbox.com)where you can chat with friends. but if you like the PSN then thats fine but until you spend some real time with both services you can really say which is better. i have several friends with both systems an you know what games they buy for the PS3, exclusives an single players games, an why is that!!

Your dumb as hell I was playing my friend's Xbox 360 and the network is hella laggy.
I was playing your so called Gears of War and I think the game is hella cool single player wise but as soon as you get to multiplayer it's laggy.
-Chainsaw glitches, bullet lag, network lag, texture loading, jumping glitch (when you try to jump off a wall you double jump.), etc.

As of now XBL has more then PSN cuz it's been around longer then PSN but it already has the same features.

360 has achievements.
PS3 has trophies.

360 has a video store.
PS3 has a video store w/ the ability to rent and buy movies while on XBL you can only rent movies.

360 has a XMB function and so does PS3.

PS3 has Home and 360 copied w/ avatars on the new XBL Experience.

The only thing XBL has that makes it better then PSN is that it has in game video chatting and Netflix that's it.

Sony can easily get those features and once Home comes out it'll surpass XBL.

So XBL is better for a couple features that's it.

Features not performance.

All these things can be added and they will only they'll be even more improved then XBL.

XBL has the edge now but don't think PSN is no joke cuz it's already catching up and fast so you better hope for your sakes and your consoles sake that Sony doesn't catch up.

But all i have read till now, there is one thing that is always, or seldom mentioned concerning xbl's continuing money suction!

most games i own including psn bought titles have online play or content! Why xbl is inferior!

Is any of this really called for. "PSN will win when HOME is released". that's BS. Was the beta in august free? no. you were invited based on your activity on psn and the ps store. meaning you would have to buy games and play them online for half of your life or buy lots of content from the ps store. sure psn is free, but it doesn't matter cos you're not putting money in their pockets. high priced content and add-ons for games that aren't very popular. sure people purchase more content from the xbl marketplace because at least they give you the option to choose to pay with either a credit card or a MS point card. psn users have to go on a scavenger hunt to find some korean store in NA to get a PSN card. not everyone has a credit card you know. also, what's the point of playing online if over 60% of the people you're playing with don't even have a mic.

bottom line: HOME's not gonna decide the winner and the new xbl dashboard isn't either. it all depends on the moves both MS and Sony make.

I think that, Even if there was no competition (Sony) they would still be working hard to push technology, but only announce and release it WHEN the competition arrives

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.
