Rapid-Fire is GoombaStomp's weekly Playstation news column, wrapping up all of the Sony stories that you need to know about. This week, a Sony patent for a Switch-like device was revealed, the Crash Bandicoot remaster received a release date, Activision was hit with layoffs and more.

Rockstar has launched an official marketplace for "every server and every player" to buy mods: Cfx Marketplace.
I wonder how much of this isn't just taken work of others who have modded for free.
Edit: Also, great way for R* to take popular ideas and build them into GTAVI based on demand.
Ah, perfect timing with them taking down the Bully online fan mod. Greedy a$$ company.
I'm not entirely sure how to read this, as it doesn't seem exactly like an exact parallel to Bethesda's paid mods shenanigans.
Rather than single player stuff, this appears to be aimed solely on Cfx Servers. From what I've gleaned, apparently Rockstar bought the Cfx mod team several years ago, coming a few years after weird contentions led them to ban a few of their members. Ultimately, the question is if they plan to keep this contained to only online/servers.
I have to guess to a degree yes. It'd be pretty hard to "force" paid mods for single player when modding files locally on your own machine, but much easier for servers they'll control. So perhaps this is their soft launch ahead of GTA6 online and they'll clamp down more tightly on non-official servers going forward? Ever since they've become a 1 or 2 property studio, I haven't really cared much for Rockstar stuff, so I'm not entirely up on everything surrounding this. Sounds like it has the potential to be problematic further down the line, but right now fairly easy to ignore...I think lol.

Former CEO describes lawsuit filed by Swedish pension fund as a "collateral attack" on Activision Blizzard.
Kotick Made $155 million from MS in the buyout, the little b*tch needs to stop whining. Thanks to this Microslop deal and massive industry consolidation thousands upon thousands of devs and other workers lost their livelihoods. This greedy piggie pervert needs shut up and f-off.

Well, that didn't take long. Not that I think Sony will follow through with it immediately.
It'll probably be like the motion controls situation all over again; Sony had a wand prototype first, but they didn't really do anything substantial with it until the Wii released and proved there was profit potential in the idea.
Then Sony started treating it a bit more seriously, culminating in the here and now, where Sony's trying to get them sold through VR.
Following that logic, Sony will probably only make this patent a reality after the Switch starts selling well, to ride the wave.
In other news, glad to see the Crash remaster isn't too far off. Hope it does well.
LOL love how fanboys now discovering this old news since 2015
I hate how fanboys on either side love to stretch the facts..When Switch was first revealed we heard "ps4 and vita does the same thing" but Nintendo has been connecting handheld with console since GBA and Gamecube.. you could even say since super nes with super gameboy player. On the other end Sony developes tech as well .. the dualshock had the best rumble compared to n64 rumble pack and dual analog sticks ..Remote play as well(plus more but to keep the conversation simple). So with these new patents it would seem Sony is looking at expanding on what it has done with vita/ps4 and make a hybrid of their own.. lets be honest here.. I personally have came up with a hybrid idea as a future direction so its not far fetched to believe big companies have the same ideas i have. Its actually a logical move forward.. its how the industry works.. if Switch ends up big, i can see Sony trying to make their patent a reality.
