Wow even PS3 and vita? they must be losing money on this

DMZ_P3379d ago

Yeah. I can't imagine that people were actually using PS Now on their Samsung or Sony TV set.
They are really killing the remaining PS3 /Vita support.

nveenio3379d ago

It could be that they're implementing an update for which older devices aren't compatible, and since few people use those devices for the service, there's no need to force compatibility.

freshslicepizza3379d ago

when are they going to drop ps3 and vita for plus? maybe they should so they can just focus on the ps4. dont know why they refuse to adopt ps4 games on the service.

Kingthrash3603379d ago

Same reason MS hasn't dropped the 360 gwg support. To support gamers who still own it instead of forcing a upgrade. Smh what's up with xbox fanbois? They seem more anti consumer than billion dollar corperations sometimes.

freshslicepizza3378d ago

"Same reason MS hasn't dropped the 360 gwg support. To support gamers who still own it instead of forcing a upgrade. Smh what's up with xbox fanbois? They seem more anti consumer than billion dollar corperations sometimes."

anti-consumer? i never mentioned playstation now being replaced in favor of backwards compatability or not allowing its users to choose for themselves alternative services like ea access. do you even know what anti-consumer means?

Death3378d ago

@King,

Wouldn't dropping PSNow support on PS3, Vita, PSTV, Sony and Samsung HDTV's, and Blu-ray Players force an upgrade since these gamers are losing support? I agree with you that this is anti-consumer.

UltraNova3378d ago

This sucks for people who use this on ps3 amd older TV models.

Fortunatly upgrading today is cheaper than ever. And lets face it how many people have the time and money to play all these new games and then invest in older ones via PS Now?

neoandrew3378d ago (Edited 3378d ago )

But it really had no point at all on ps3, ps now is literally the service to play ps3 games without ps3.

lodossrage3379d ago

I doubt they're losing money on the service considering companies keep adding games and support.

I think it has more to do with the selected devices not getting much use to be worth it. I can understand the PS3 because you don't even need it there. But the other devices it shouldn't be cut on

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen3379d ago (Edited 3379d ago )

Agreed. I think they need to focus on portable devices, PS4, and PC, but Sony also needs to come up with a pricing scheme that more people can live with. The "overpriced" complaints are what plague this service.

Godmars2903379d ago

"I think they need to focus on portable devices,"

Um, you mean something like the PSV and PSTV?

kneon3378d ago (Edited 3378d ago )

But I'm sure part of the reason is that there has been very little marketing of the service.

I expect most people buying the bluray players and TVs are not gamers, so you need a lot more marketing to get adoption. On PS3 is doesn't make much sense since most of the games can be played locally, and the small screen of the Vita isn't the best place to play most of those games.

TimelessDbz3379d ago

LOL nah. It's typical Sony they never support anything after release. Its like me expecting ubisoft game servers working day one . Shame on me.

PSP
PS TV
Ps phone
Ps vita
Ps eye toy
PS move
Next on the list is PS VR . Anyone thinking they will support anything out side their flagship product is delusional .

ColonelHugh3379d ago (Edited 3379d ago )

PSP was supported heavily. Take that off your crazy list.

TheCommentator3379d ago (Edited 3379d ago )

Nice list! I'm sure there's still more but it's too hard to remember them all, lol!

I know you forgot:

PS2 HDD
PSP Go
PS Home
PS Eye
BC
Linux

Seriously though, should we even still call it PS Now? PS Later seems more fitting, considering it's being all but abandoned.

This Is 4 The Players

ruefrak3378d ago

There's also Wonderbook, Music Unlimited, Movies Unlimited, PlayMemories...

AmUnRa3378d ago

And microsoft dumped Kinekt 2 like cancer.
First is was Kinekt is one with the xbox One, everybody had to buy kinekt even if you did not want to. Now Kinekt is dead.
Now that is anti consumer, pushing people Kinekt down the troath, and than stop supporting it. Thats abandoning your customers.

TheCommentator3378d ago

Speaking of Kinect, Amunra, how many of the peripherals Sony developed are now being used for robotics, surgeries, ghost hunting, or other fantastic uses? I don't like Kinect for gaming at all, matter of fact I don't even use the one I was given with my free XB1 for Cortana. My point is that MS is still selling Kinects to creative people coming up with practial applications that make all of our lives better. All Sony seems to do with it's ideas is take a poor fools' money then screw them over. I see Kinect successes in the news and on TV shows all the time... just not video game success. But hey, even the Wii failed in the long run because motion controlled gaming isn't fun. Even VR (any) right now is barely passable.

BTW, they didn't force Kinect on anybody, they integrated it because they thought consumers would want all of the multimedia capabilities and hybrid gaming that would come along with Kinect integration. They were wrong, and even though MS stated that it would be difficult to remove it they did it anyways because that's what people asked for. That's supporting, not abandoning customers

ColonelHugh3378d ago (Edited 3378d ago )

@Commentator
"Speaking of Kinect, Amunra, how many of the peripherals Sony developed are now being used for robotics, surgeries, ghost hunting, or other fantastic uses?"

Sony doesn't peddle its video game peripherals on businesses because it creates technology for those businesses already. Everyone knows that Sony makes some of the best high-end cameras and sensors for many industrial uses. As far as medicine, they make 3D cameras for robotics suitable for numerous micro-surgeries. It took all of 20 seconds to find that out on google.

Ghost hunting, though? Can't say I can see any respectable business making money on something so hokey.

I hope this dies because all I want is them to release the PS1 Classics normally on the PSN where I can download them...sorry I mean RE-download them since I already bought most of them on my PS3

By the time we get PS1 Classics then PS5 will be announced and soon after we'll go through the exact same cycle again of waiting ages to play them.

XanderZane3379d ago

i would love to be able to play all my purchased PS3 digital games on the PS4, but that will probably never happen.

XanderZane3379d ago (Edited 3379d ago )

Another failed Playstation service. There were many gamers on here saying they would definitely use the service. I'm guessing not enough of them bit the bullet and subscribed. Gamers want true B/C. Not a B/C service where you have to rebuy the games or pay a monthly service to stream the games. If I can't slap my PS3 games into the PS4 and play them then forget it. Who's using this service on the PS4? I expect the PS Vue will be next to get the ax somewhere down the road, just like HOME did.

Godmars2903379d ago (Edited 3379d ago )

Might be getting ready to shut it down. Condense it before they do.

The plan was to provide it for non-consoles after all.

Oh, and a again, behold the glorious always online future...

Chris123378d ago

Online is not the problem here, it's the service provided and the cost that sunk this ship.

Godmars2903378d ago

Its that a switch is being flipped and access has been removed. That people were paying for said access.

lodossrage3379d ago

I knew this was going to happen the moment they made that PC Dongle for PS Now.

I expected it to be cut on the PS3 at some point since it's least needed there. But the Vita and everywhere else IS a problem to me.

So now they're saying it's just the PS4, PC, and any Sony TV 2017 and beyond models will get it. That to me is a bad idea. But that's just my opinion

DMZ_P3379d ago

People won't play any more on Sony's TV than on Samsung's set, at this point there is no need to include Now on Bravia other than just having it there because it's a Sony service.

lodossrage3379d ago

What you just said is exactly what I said about it being on the PS3 when it first came out lol

3378d ago
FunAndGun3379d ago

I only ever used it on my PS4 anyway...but I am not a subscriber anymore, so it doesn't really affect me. I tried the year subscription and the service worked well, I just didn't use it much because I was too busy with new games.

Corpser3379d ago

Not many people use it because of the high cost right? So why not lower the price, include maybe some hours in ps+, now it seem like it's going to die

lodossrage3379d ago (Edited 3379d ago )

It's not dieing. Third parties wouldn't keep putting new content on it otherwises.

HOWEVER, I DON'T like what Sony's trying to push here.

To me, It looks like they're solely trying to push for customers to use the service on ONLY their 2017 line TV and beyond as well as PC and PS4. Basically leaving even the 2016 devices out in the cold. To me, it comes off as them trying to force you to buy their new TV line

As a customer THAT would bother me a lot.

FunAndGun3379d ago

I don't know, I thought the $99/year was a pretty good deal for what you get and they had that promo price a few times already.

I don't think the service is going to die, it just seems like they are refocusing. Who knows, they might provide PS4 games in the future.

eferreira3379d ago

I use it on my PS4 only. Didn't even know it was on pstv

gangsta_red3379d ago

Damn, that is really harsh of Sony to discontinue the service on ALL Blu-Ray player models and Playstation TV?

The price models from what I remember wasn't all that attractive and I also think Sony could have pushed this service a little more and added a little bit more incentive for people to rent old games to play on multiple devices.

monkey6023379d ago

Not to mention actually releasing the service for all countries

Automatic793379d ago

Sorry to hear customers with TV sets won't be able to play great PS3 titles.

-Foxtrot18d ago

Funny considering Bruce left half way through development and now we get told there was an internal conflict with the story direction.

Makes you think…

HectixRose20d ago

I think it was good decision, if he was still alive, he would have been a mascot just like Kratos, drake and many others. These old dudes gotta die for new characters to take center stage with their own storyline. They keep dragging the emotional baggage into many sequels and eventually the story just turns into absolute shit show.

JEECE20d ago

It was ironic because people complained heavily about the story in the Uncharted games not having sufficient stakes because all the key characters always survived, despite the dangerous situations they were always in. Then ND killed a character in a more serious series and everyone lost their minds. Just shows that people don't always really want the thing they say they want.

CantThinkOfAUsername19d ago

I thought the more common complaint about Uncharted franchise was how the main cast are the good guys acting so nonchalantly while killing hundreds in cold blood (aka the dissonance between gameplay and story cutscenes). They just did it again in Part II.

Soy20d ago

Didn't have to kill him. Just have them part ways or Joel can "retire," whatever.

DarXyde19d ago

I don't think he would necessarily need to become a mascot (and besides, technically, I'd say Ellie is... So regardless, someone was going to be).

From a narrative perspective, I do think it has a similar effect to Ricky dying in Boyz N Da Hood: very likeable character, and you're really motivated to see the get back—in this case, it's more intense because it's an interactive experience. Most people hated Abby, but I get what they were after with portraying the cycle of violence and revenge—unfortunately, the game appears to want to take the side of the bad people.

But I will say that if Joel survived, it does become harder to tell an interesting story. What COULD have happened is an exploration into the rift between Joel and Ellie after the trolley dilemma events of the first game. It could have been interesting to see Abby out for revenge at the same time Ellie hated Joel.

Ashunderfire8619d ago

Sorry just had to say this lol! RICKYYYY!

Man Cuba Gooding Jr was miscast in that movie, but that part was cringey it was sad and funny at the same time man.

Ashunderfire8619d ago (Edited 19d ago )

I understand but the way they went about killing Joel, was poorly executed. Even the show of the Last of Us games tried to improved it, but it was just as bad. Well at least Joel got to know the reason why he had to die, before the death happened in the show. That part gave us the full context, but the game just let it happen with no pay off.

Joel death should have been a midway thing through the story, so we at least get to play him a little more with Ellie. Abby didn’t need to be this Hulk looking woman, but more like the show Abby which is a beater idea in my opinion.

The only ND game that was so disappointing to me I couldn't finish it.

pwnmaster300020d ago

Honestly as much as I loved the game, they could have just not killed him off.
I get it creator vision and all but killing a character that made you millions is just wrong imo. At least have him go down fighting.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle19d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted
