Based on DF's analysis its looking like 5-8 more frames on average with the rare 10+. Very dispointing overall. However it shouldnt affect me personally when i get a PS4P since i assume all exclusives will be optimized for the Pro and i play all Third parties on PC.

Hmm Interesting.Boost mode is across the board. It works on (nearly) all older games without a Pro patch. BUT, boost is not as good as patched. Digital Foundry theorises that Boost Mode “accesses the extra frequency but not the Pro's 18 additional compute units” So patched is (theoretically, if done correct) superior to boost.

But its a double edged sword. I think we are going to see less patches now because devs are not going to want to go back to an old game and do more work when Boost is already giving benefits without doing anything.

Thankfully, we are only talking about OLD games here. All games going forward are required to be Pro enabled from the get go. This should be even better than Patched OR Boost because the dev has the Pro in mind while actually designing their game, so its up to them how far they want to go with the enhancements. I would say some devs would want to do the extra work because it best possible graphics and performance they can achieve on a console (at least until Scorpio is out) and it can really show off their game and make it a step above other games they dont take advantage..

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
