You can get adapters like this made for laptops, they work just as good but will cost much less.

I already have one for my laptop, so I'll try that first before buying this.

Nintendo consoles are messy when they release with all these overprice accessories required. Heck this is the most expensive console that is underpowered compare to Xbox One. If Scorpio end up being cheap as $350, or $400 bucks with not that much accessories needed, then the Switch is going to get ditch.

Nintendo is trying to use Apple's method of marketing. They come out with a piece of garbage and force you to buy a hundred add-ons to make it work. Next thing theyll say you have to buy a separate dongle for the wireless controller. Or the power cords for the Switch are sold separately. I guarantee we'll see more of this shit before launch.

Not just no ethernet port but also no digital optical out. This crap gets expensive. When I played Splatoon it was already super laggy because more than half the lobby was in Japan and everyone was using WiFi, but now people are going to play on crappy wifi networks outside their home. It's really amazing Nintendo is going to charge for online now.

Meanwhile noone has came to the realization that switch will be compatible with any USB LAN adapter like Wii & wiiu was. Meaning that you can use a 3$ LAN USB adapter from eBay.

A little bit too much nickel and dime...... 90 dollars for the dock and the ethernet port isn't included. So now... you have to pay Nintendo for the ethernet service.... then you have to pay them to get a wired connection to get the best connection. At this point, I'd rather have a 400 dollar Deluxe switch that has dock with the ethernet port and comes with a joy con cradle that can charge the joy cons.

Bullshit. The other companies sell their machines at a loss, and make up the money with software post launch. Nintendo is selling an underpowered gimmick console for a premium price. Whilst missing expected features from 10 years ago. Absolutely laughable. Nintendo fans always try and stick up for this company, its pathetic.

I don't intend using many of the online features anyway so I'll just stick with the wi-fi thanks. I can't see any massively competitive multiplayer games coming out that would benefit from millisecond shaving ethernet connections, plus unless it's a GB ethernet adaptor many wi-fi connections these days are quicker anyway.

Basically, my point is, why would you want ethernet on the switch anyway?

Two: All of my consoles are connected to wireless, so.... I haven't used a wired connection in a few years. So.... I don't really care.

I wonder how many people complaining here actually use a wired connection, and how many here are just complaining because apparently railing on Nintendo for anything, is apparently the "cool" thing to do these days.

Just an FYI, many laptop are being made without an ethernet port. Looks like it gives the manufacturer the chance to have one less item, give the consumers the option to get an extra head ache.

Just like TVs removing many jacks and even DVis and just having HDMI...even removing the ethernet port on the TVs and having wifi...

We always want more for less. Nintendo will be making a profit on each console sold, sure, but they are entitled to that, as a business. There is a lot of tech here in a small package. Why don't we all look for reason's to buy something like mobility, off tv play, hybrid system, joycons, HD Rumble instead of thinking of daily reasons not to buy something. Everyone will be happier for it. If you want to play wired, you have yet another option to do so. Playing on the whole mobility concept, it makes sense to me that this was not included, but you have options for the probable minority that want wired connection.
