It seems like a long ass wait between now and E3. Gonna be a big wait for Xbox fans. Either way, E3 is going to be fun

wait for what i got plenty to play

game4funz3426d ago

Everybody does. But they're talking hardware.

XanderZane3426d ago

I've got plenty to play too. Over 100 games on PS4 and XB1, and a whole lot more coming in 2017. Who doesn't have anything to play?

migh_and_highty3426d ago

Sad when all you've to look forward to is a console. The Scorpio can have the infinite power of the cloud sustained in its bones, but it's useless without a good lineup of games

Gazondaily3426d ago

Xbox has games. Just cause you dont like Crackdown, Forza, Sea of Thieves, Halo wars etc doesn't mean others don't.

Plus, lets not forget multiplatform games. It will have the best version of those games on consoles. It's not all that sad is it?

Plus multi console owners like me don't miss out. Do you have a Xbox?

migh_and_highty3426d ago

I mean what you've listed is their exclusive (and I use that term loosely) lineup in its entirety.
And that lineup I wouldn't say justifies a typical user buying a £400-500 hardware when they have an Xbox one (or PC) more than capable of playing them.

Best version of those games? We'll see.. but I think the end user cares more about the future differentiator games than slightly more pixels in a version of a game.

And no, I donated mine when I realised I can play EVERY Xbox one game on my PC with the added perk of not paying online subscriptions.

riibhu3426d ago (Edited 3426d ago )

@migh_and_highty ".. but I think the end user cares more about the future differentiator games than slightly more pixels in a version of a game. "
So now resolution doesn't matter? I wonder if that was the case when xbox one did 900p as compared to ps4's 1080p.

conanlifts3426d ago (Edited 3426d ago )

Well if you want to mention games then surely sony fans understand the benefit of owning the most powerful console on the market and it's benefit for all the multiplatform titles. Why is it different with Scorpio.

@shadow steel.
If people don't care about pixels then there is no reason for a ps4 pro, might as well stock to ps4.
Also there were a large number of sony fans who cared about 1080p on the ps4.

Shadowsteal3426d ago (Edited 3426d ago )

@riibhu

He's talking about the average consumer who walks into a store and sees a PS4 with twice as many games in its library and like 5 times as many exclusives in the pipeline coming its way. But then looks at the Scorpio. They're not going to choose a Scorpio for 40% more power. When it's getting no games. And most of which are playable on PC anyhow.

@sd11

Because people don't care about pixels. You can't play them. They'd rather pay less for a PS4 pro that can play the same multiplatform titles and a slew of exclusives on top of that. Many of which can't be played anywhere else unlike most of the exclusives coming to X1.

BizarroUltraman63426d ago (Edited 3426d ago )

Whats sad is you and others thinking a console is all Xbox gamers have to look forward too this year. Last I checked there was plenty of games coming to Xbox One. Im sure the power of Scorpio will make those old games seem new again as well...haha

@mah, to bad not all Xbox One games are on PC. Which is something you guys always seem to forget...haha.

CoryHG3426d ago

Crackdown - No Information
Forza - Buy it on PC
Sea of Thieves - Unknown
Halo Wars - Buy it on PC, where RTS' are played anyways.

Failbone is done.

3426d ago
TheUndertaker853426d ago (Edited 3426d ago )

Scorpio has had games being developed for it for a bit now.

http://gearnuke.com/develop...

Plus, factually, Scorpio will have over 40% more resources available to it compared to Pro. That's out of the box and without cloud computing.

@Shadowsteal: So the average consumer walking into a store with no idea what console they're buying are going to know about "exclusives in the pipeline"? Please do tell me where I might find this "exclusives in the pipeline" isle please. It seems like the average consumer isn't looking for it either.

mcstorm3425d ago

The advradge customer is not looking for exclusives they are looking for cod, FIFA, gta, AC ect. The advradge customer is also the customer who buys a console on news and reviews. The Xbox one got slated and they moved to the ps4 now pro and Scorpio are coming there has been very little mews/reviews for the pro and the way it's shaping up Microsoft will be shouting about the Scorpio which could swade people over to the Xbox again.

That said it's still to early to tell what will happen in terms of sales for Scorpio ps4 pro and also the switch. The one thing for me though is I was to see less remasters by all 3 and more new games/IPS/and old IPS brought back (not remastered)

BEWARE Zelda and Horizon! phantom dust is comming!

TheCommentator3426d ago

I just hope that supporting devs will also include more support of new and existing IP. I'm happy with MS 1st party, but it could still be better with more quantity and diversity to attract a wider audience. Plus, I want to see some old IP return.

MS, if you read this, make these reboots for us fans...

Perfect Dark
Mech Assault
Too Human

XanderZane3426d ago (Edited 3425d ago )

E3 is going to be very fun. Can't wait to see new games running in True Native 4K with HDR. Oopps.. I drooled a little on my keyboard.

@Septic
I'll be enjoying my PS4 & XB1 games while waiting for the E3 and the Scorpio to be released. I think the wait will be tolerable.

Godmars2903426d ago

But what does that mean, how hard is it really to do, when talking about a port of the original title rather than the newer version which was canceled?

Then again what will it mean if its buggy as all out?

freshslicepizza3426d ago

what exactly is your question, phantom dust hd? probably not too difficult

Godmars2903426d ago

My point is that there were two games named Phantom Dust, one either a direct sequel to the other or something focused on multiplayer, only now with an announced cancellation and the closing of a game studio there's only one.

_-EDMIX-_3426d ago

I don't think they are saying its hard, simply that they might have started the process recently. Ports can be made as short as 6 months. Some teams can have games up and running in literally weeks.

Godmars2903426d ago (Edited 3426d ago )

Pretty much the case in point: why try to use something that should be easily ported as example of commitment towards *NEW* games? Especially in the wake of the cancellation of the *NEW* title meant to replace/update it.

Speaks more of deflection than ability to create/produce games, something MS comes under fire for each time they either don't release something or it fails to live up to hype.

Disagree away.

1Victor3426d ago

@EDMIX thanks for the explanation of what happened to the master chief collection
There you have it folks the did it in weeks

Gazondaily3426d ago

"why try to use something that should be easily ported as example of commitment towards *NEW* games?"

Read the article...

AngelicIceDiamond3426d ago

"But what does that mean, how hard is it really to do, when talking about a port of the original title rather than the newer version which was canceled?"

Doesn't really matter if you've never even touched the original game. Barely anyone played the game anyway and those who have have gathered a big cult following. Release the game a second time advertise it then see if the game does better sales wise.

Godmars2903426d ago

No such thing as a "big" cult following, especially for something obscure. And all Spencer really said is that their providing support to devs in general. That's anyone who wants to put their game on Xbox and/or Win10. As someone from a company that has only insisted if not created the mindset of "exclusives don't matter" he's certainly not making - yet again - another commitment for exclusives.

Consider this: Sony announces a new Paraper the Raper PS4 remake at the last E3 to the surprise of it's, actual, cult following.

Now compare that to MS announcing a new PD project a few years ago, building excitement for an obscure first Xbox title, cancelling it only to announce the re-release of the actual original game.

TankCrossing3426d ago

Someone asked "Any news on Phantom Dust HD?"
He answered "Should ship before E3".

This wasn't one of those "Xbox is the greatest! We have 108million Live Users' eyes looking at various screens, and Scalebound doesn't even matter because Phantom Dust HD is better and we can promise that this is the best 2017 Xbox has ever had!".

freshslicepizza3426d ago

@Godmars290
"My point is that there were two games named Phantom Dust, one either a direct sequel to the other or something focused on multiplayer, only now with an announced cancellation and the closing of a game studio there's only one."

according to wiki,

"In June 2015, Microsoft stated that since the removal of Darkside, the project was placed on hold until they could find a studio to work with to develop the title, but they remain committed to producing a new game. Spencer admitted that they likely announced the game too early in 2014, but feels confident that they will release another Phantom Dust game with the involvement of Yukio Futatsugi, the game's creator, once they decide on the best studio to develop the title."

so there is still hope but for now there is only a hd remaster. i imagine part of it will be to see what kind of feedback this gets.

gamer78043426d ago

have we seen any video or screenshots even of the remastered phantom dust?

Tussin1873426d ago

I don't think so. Seems kind of strange doesn't if especially if it's releasing before E3. Guess we'll see something soon. You would think if you wanted this to sell well we would have seen something by now to get some hype behind it. Oh well, I guess MS knows what their doing.

AngelicIceDiamond3426d ago

PD is a tough game to market. Third person real time action card game. Think of Magic The Gathering merged with Unreal tournament Best way to describe it. The game is difficult market I think its best they show off gameplay first.

gamer78043426d ago

i don't think its going to be much of a remaster honestly, they haven't shown anything other than a cinematic trailer, not gameplay or screenshots or anything. Probably going to be a quiet release, especially there are probably some who don't realize its not the remake that was promised, the 30hr rpg.

Automatic793426d ago

@Tussein

They have a big release first to talk about, it's called Halo Wars 2. You can't expect MS to step on games toes to hype another.

rainslacker3425d ago (Edited 3425d ago )

Up until a few weeks ago where it got a mention, and mistaken for a new "sequel" (or whatever) I don't think anyone around here even knew about it, until a couple people decided to say what was going on with it. I've never seen it make the lists of upcoming games over the past couple years, and not the past few weeks, it seems to be yet thing people act like was there all along....which it probably was....but most of them didn't actually know(or maybe didn't care) about it.

Personally, only thing I've seen of the IP is the new game teaser a coupe years ago, and then the cancellation. Missed they were working on a remaster....which I'm OK with because I've heard some good things about it. I learned about the remaster a few weeks ago along with most others around here.

Given the nature of the game, I can't see it being a raging success. Watched some game play videos of the old game, and while intriguing, it doesn't seem like the kind of game that would set the world on fire or move systems. Hopefully people will enjoy it though. Would like to see more unique games like this, even if they don't sell bucketloads.

E3 should be fun for everyone. Hoping they show "Scorpio"

DashArrivals3426d ago

Of course they'll show Scorpio. No need to hope. I think they'll stick with a very similar look to the Xbox One S

CoryHG3426d ago

Maybe you can talk to it and it'll come with a camera!

Movefasta19933426d ago

I think they should show Scorpio 1 month before e3 ,that way they can focus on games

Take-Two CEO Once Again Side Steps Grand Theft Auto 6 Price Point

Strauss Zelnick says price of GTA 6 is being carefully considered and that Rockstar is focused on "making the most spectacular piece of entertainment on Earth."

Kuma50d ago

If GTA 6 abandons everything that made GTA 5 great, it will crash and burn right out of the gate. GTA 5 was funny and not at all PC. My worry is that they will cave to the PC crowd and ruin the vibes.

Eonjay50d ago

They got freaking BBLs twerking on the top of trucks for the gram, the freaking Flordia joker, and dude running down the stree in their undies and you are worried about it being 'too PC'? The internet has runied gamers. It doesn't matter how non-PC they make the game, you will all listen to the grifters telling you not to believe your lying eyes lol.

gigoran849d ago

"Rockstar Games’ co-founder and former VP of Development Jamie King said he envisions GTA 6 as a game that’s “maybe not quite as edgy or quite as funny” as its satirical predecessors."

oh yeah, totally internet grifters spreading rumors...

blacktiger49d ago

That's part of the plan, they destroyed you but they need to destroy the shareholders? Only 1 shre holder is the true elite that don't care

1nsomniac50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

Meh.., if it’s above £55 I ain’t buying it.

Rockstar are genuinely not half the company they used to be. I was a die hard GTA fan I’ve purchased every game and expansion and spin off day 1.

My opinion of GTA6 is that I can take it or leave it. Not bothered. They burnt too many bridges.

DaReapa50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

So they're actually leaving the door open for an L.A. Noire sequel? Nice!

VaNdAl49d ago (Edited 49d ago )

He should just come out and say it already it's getting stupid it's going to be a 100 bucks $200 for the special edition🤡🤡; 29315;🤣♿

Storm2349d ago

I won't be getting this game until I can get it for $70. SHoot, I could wait for it to be even lower. I don't need the game that badly as my backlog is still huge and I am enjoying playing other things.

Xbox boss: Memory crisis could impact next-gen hardware pricing

Xbox boss Asha Sharma has discussed how component shortages will impact the company's plans for Project Helix.

gamedeveloper.com
Eonjay51d ago

When does this end? Its killing everyone. Consoles and PC. And for what? AI? The benefits of AI are completely outweighed by the negatives. And the government should have never allowed one company to buy up all the RAM.

Lexreborn252d ago

This kind of proves this is an after thought product, most products like this are in r&d 5 years before they start mass producing. So they typically have the cost of components and things worked out long before assembly starts.

This is an assumption still, but I wouldn’t be surprised if project helix is similar to Scalebound, perfect dark and sod3. They had an idea but no actual execution other than concept stage. Being impacted by the ram shortage likely would also put this device 3-4 years out.

I’m not even sure MS has that endurance with Xbox yet

Fishy Fingers52d ago (Edited 51d ago )

I mean.... what?

We're at a point that Samsung wont even provide their own phone department ram because they can sell it at higher prices to 3rd parties (AI). Its more profitable to sell the ram than make their own devices with it.

You think because R&D starts 5 years ago the 3rd party component manufacturers will honour that price? They'll sell it to whomever is paying the most today, not some gentlemens agreement they made years ago. AI farms will buy more volume at higher prices than any console manufacturer will. It'll be the same for Playstation.

Lexreborn251d ago

Contractual agreements are not the same as “gentlemen” agreements. If you think that they work with their distributors a month before production then their entire business model is trash. They work with companies like nvidia constantly for building the graphics cards they need. They work with companies that build motherboards years in advance. This is what proper business planning does.

They are not buying components on a whim like a consumer. So again, considering the ram isn’t a singular module and is integrated into the motherboard I highly doubt they wouldn’t have a final schematic that they are supposed to be building around.

If they are delaying production another 3 years then it’s obvious again this is an after though project and is just trying to be responsive to their bad execution they had the last 14 years.

It also isn’t far fetched to use their failure to produce first party titles the last 7 years including the highly anticipated games I mentioned all being cancelled. That they would continue to you know… lie

Sitdown51d ago

You don't really know how this works huh?

Profchaos51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Helix is going to be stupidly expensive

Instead of leaning into smarter upscaling techniques they're brute forcing hardware that will cost them dearly and it remains to be seen if it's genuinely going to provide a meaningful differential

I know in the oc.doace people like to brag about not using frame gen or dlss to get to high on a game but for the majority of players they happily use those technologies without a second thought

That's going to be ps6 vs Helix

Eonjay51d ago

Yeah with FSR 5 they should be able to offer a much cheaper version of Helix.

Eonjay51d ago

While this does seem to be the case, I am encouraged by the statement from Microsoft about wanting to provide affordable options. If this means a Series S style Helix, at least there will be something affordable being offered.

XBManiac51d ago

Series S is what has killed Xbox Series so... Will they dare?

blacktiger51d ago

It's called systematic inflationary. Yes we get it Microsoft, keep raising in the name ofall kinds of stuffs

pwnmaster300051d ago

Honestly if there was thing I learned from this generation is that new consoles arnt day one anymore.
I can wait 1-3 years.

DarXyde51d ago

Another important lesson from this generation: while Nintendo showed us that prices don't necessarily need to ever drop, we've now learned that waiting 1-3 years does carry some risk that prices increase. This generation is just bizarre in all the wrong ways.

LucasRuinedChildhood51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

The factors are largely external. Covid and Russia-Ukraine war causing inflation led to the first price increase in 2022.

Then we get Trump's tariffs increasing hardware prices, AI boom causing a RAM crisis, war on Iran causing a worldwide fuel crisis which impacts the cost of everything.

Gaming doesn't exist in a vacuum. The last few years have been a shitshow and lot of it was definitely avoidable.

DarXyde51d ago

LucasRuinedChildhood,

For sure. No disagreement on the external factors doing a lot of this. Where I have to gently push back however is on two fronts:

1. The pandemic definitely caused some issues: asynchronous development was a big issue and really complicated timelines and affected game quality. At the same time, when it comes to price hikes, it's really difficult to know what was genuine necessity and what was taking consumers for a ride. The pandemic brought about "stag-flation" which was increasing prices and stagnant wages, which was a problem caused by supply chain constraints. There was also "Greed-flation", where companies that were slightly affected or had no issues took advantage of the situation and squeezed everyone citing supply chain issues when there were none.

2. It's definitely true that the tariffs, AI boom, and RAM crisis were all things enabled by tech broligarchs throwing money at this caricature of a world leader, one of them being Satya Nadella. I don't think Sony and Nintendo have contributed much to this problem if at all, but Microsoft's Nadella I feel was instrumental in causing every one of those issues. Microsoft as a company contributed to both candidates (though they gave Harris 4x as much if I recall), but Nadella was all in on letting AI run wild. He paid for unregulated AI, and got a war that's not a war (even though Trump called it that at least five times on television) that screwed up helium access. So for me, I feel that one of the players in the gaming industry is a key architect of these issues, and for that reason I struggle a bit to think of it as "external".
