While not traditional horror resident evil 4 is an awesome game and stands well even today

naruga3395d ago (Edited 3395d ago )

this ^^ ...very good game but not a Resi ....the title could ve been "changed horror gaming to the worst" (if anyone considers into what the series has evolved.....RE5-6....and finally the tragic RE7

-Foxtrot3396d ago

I still think it had a decent balance of both horror and action

I mean going through the Castle for the first time, low on ammo and all you could hear was that chanting put you on the edge of your seat. I used to try and look for them but suddenly, out of nowhere they'd stab me in the back

I shake my head at the people who say "It's not even a true Resident Evil title."

Do these same people also say that titles such as Fallout 3, Hitman: Absolution, Grand Theft Auto 3, Metroid Prime, Bioshock Infinite, Metal Gear Solid 4, & Tomb Raider '13 aren't true mainline installments in their respective franchises because they dramatically changed a lot of the conventions from previous installments?

And don't even me started on the ridiculous arguments on what constitutes a "true mainline Final Fantasy title."

Yui_Suzumiya3395d ago

I think you meant Metal Gear Solid 5.. Metal Gear Solid 4 was a true MGS game unlike 5.

Imalwaysright3395d ago (Edited 3395d ago )

To me MGS5 was more a MGS game than MGS4. MGS4 had amazing stealth gameplay but there was so little of it (and gameplay in general) that I was left extremely disappointed. MGS5 fixed that.

TheFirstClassic3395d ago

Mgs4 took away most of the stralth and forced you to play the game like a third person shooter a lot of the time.

Kyosuke_Sanada3395d ago

To be fair, Resident Evil 4 threw away important aspects that made survival horror such as ammo drops for killing enemies and overpowered melee attacks (the same could be said for new Tomb Raider throwing away it's aspect of survival by regenerating health and the ability to make silencers out of animal bones). Metal Gear Solid 4, while adding a new perspective, added many new elements that complimented it's original gameplay which kept it being a stealth game foremost.

Evolution can occur in gaming but not by throwing away key concepts that made it attractive in the first place.

Please don't shake ur head :(

I wouldn't say that RE4 did irreparable damage to the overall franchise.

Resident Evil: Revelations 1 & 2 were great titles that blended the great modern controls from RE4-RE6 and the gameplay philosophies of RE1-RE3 into a great package.

Yui_Suzumiya3395d ago

Revelations 2 was amazing. It's the best Resident Evil I'd played at the time since 3.

Resident Evil 4 ruined horror games by making them about action. It took over a decade for horror games to make a comeback

Irishguy953395d ago

Its not RE4's fault. Its the devs and companies that tried to copy it. It is there fault they failed at making either a action horror, or just a horror. Really. RE4 was nothing but a success. It's like blaming marijuana for heroine addicts. "Oh but the slippery slope". Nah **** off mate.

wtf, good thing I already played and finished the game when it came out

walken7100d ago

Once again hurting the people who purchase and support the game. Meanwhile pirates get the best version. Pathetic.

PRIMORDUS100d ago

There is already someone or a group called voices38, that has been cracking Denuvo games lately. Not the newest games, but getting there.

PRIMORDUS100d ago

I wonder if the pirated copies run better like this one titled here: "Resident Evil 4: Remake - Gold Edition (No Denuvo) (v1.5.0.0 + All DLCs + Bonus Content + MULTi14) (From 50 GB)"

Furesis100d ago

i don't think so? as far as i know even pirated version have denuvo or whatever runing in the background, they just trick it to say that yes this is a legit copy or just skip that process, but im not 100% sure. regardless this is an endless battle where legit consumer "suffer" sometimes. it's not that big of a deal MOST of the times and i understand publishers not wanting people to get access to their games for FREE so, i cant blame them honestly. i do find it odd that they wouldn't just remove DRM completely considering most people already played it? not like they are getting more sales anymore, just lower the price remove DRM but i guess thats why they still have it because they dont want to lower the price. oh well

1nsomniac99d ago (Edited 99d ago )

A perfectly acceptable excuse to pirate the game.

Why would you accept to pay for the game in order for it to install software you don’t want with the intention to make your playing experience worse. Paying for that would be the very definition of stupid.

I’m not against DRM but if it negatively effects a product you’re paying for. Then it’s on them not you.

You know I would have liked this if it was added on for free. A nice substitute for Assignment Ada.
