The closed beta for For Honor has officially begun today, so you can hop on and engage in medieval warfare with Samurai's and Vikings and the like.

That is ... if you can connect.

Sigh. You'd think they would have figured this out by 2017.

I would agree, but this isn't the full game. This is the beta. This is exactly what beta's are for. I've been in every single closed alpha and beta test. Very rarely was there connection issues. When they did go down, they usually were back up rather quickly. . They let A LOT of people in this beta to stress test the servers. I'd rather the beta go down for a while than the full game.

Don't get the down votes everything you said is true

is a beta. In my experience a beta is pretty dam close to what the real game is
Im looking at you battlefield 3 and 4

The purpose of a beta is to fix these things. So for me i don't judge a game by it.

However, Most online games struggle even after release. I am not giving an excuse to developers to release broken online games but just letting you know that it happen a lot and don't be surprised when it happen. If you buy an online game just be prepared for that for few months.

The problem is even when Ubisoft runs multiple beta's the full game STILL ends up being a wreck... All you have to do is look at their track history.

samden3407d ago

Yes it is a beta and is for fixing things, but what I witnessed yesterday was a complete train wreck and it's two weeks from launch.

is ubisoft. They don't know how to figure things out

To your comment above, yes feature wise and how the game is gonna play is a very good indication based on a beta. Connection issues are not. If you played For Honor beta and you don't like the gameplay, then yeah it would be very wise not to purchase it based off your experience with the beta. But betas are mostly used for stress testing servers to make them better for launch. GTA V didn't have a beta, remember how long it took Rockstar to get MP up and running 100%? Over a month. Division was down for about a day if that and Ubisoft had it back up to nearly 90% working correctly.

I'm not a huge fan of Ubi, but I'll give them credit where credit is due. They've been having betas for all the recent online games, and when they launch a new game it's rather smooth. Especially compared to how they use to be.

Played fine on xbox one and PC. My only issues is when people disconnect. Sucks getting killed because of the pause.

"My only issues is when people disconnect. Sucks getting killed because of the pause."

Yay for peer to peer connections instead of dedicated servers...

I don't mind some games being online. I mean we could get mad and force them to offer an option for offline but what's the point today? There are so many games that can't be played offline already and we have no problem with them because of the type of game they are.

It's risk/reward and comes down to what every game comes down to when it releases, quality and demand. If it's good enough ppl will buy it. Ask Blizzard lol!

I'm playing right now no issues. It's actually really fun. Especially Dominion.

Ra3v3r3408d ago

Tried watching a few streams when I was at work and they were plagued with connection issues. The ones they did get into kept changing the host so they were stopping all the time. Shame cos the first one did't seem as bad. Yet to try it myself but thats for tomorrow.
