Sorry but theres really dumb people,its obvious that Scorpio its a new generation console,since the beginning i was expecting this,we all know the way Microsoft works its simple...the Xbox One and S are weak hardware by normal standards...do you people really expect Microsoft to invest in a new system that is leaps in power above the Xbox One and not end up using the new system to begin a new generation ... Microsoft will support Xbox One for another year and then we will start seeing games exclusives to the Scorpio that will not be supported on Xbox One due to the weak hardware of the same,its just the way things are ...its Microsoft we talking about. For people that brought the Xbox One S expecting it to be supported for another four to five year down the road,dont blame Microsoft if that does not happen because Microsoft told people that Scorpio was coming in a year time after the announce of the Xbox One S.

In the end, the PS4 Pro will run most games around 1600 to 1800p, obviously it varies by title. Different titles use different upscaling tech as well. Those same games might run at native 2160p on the Scorpio, maybe with some slight graphical changes too. We'll probably see some more games with 60fps support on the Scorpio as well, but I don't think all that many. And then it'll almost assuredly have a 4K Blu ray player.

It'll be up to the consumer (/4K TV owner haha) whether those differences will be worth the price difference of 50-150 bucks come the holidays (I personally expect that it'll launch at 399, Microsoft has learned from the Xbox One, and that the Pro will drop 50 bucks around then).

For me (personal opinion inbound) Microsoft will have to market hard, becuase the higher resolutions get the harder it is to tell the damn difference (for example, I see the difference from 720p to 1080p MUCH more noticeable than 1440p to 2160p, even though numerically they're identical changes proportionally). The difference in graphical quality to an actual person will probably be quite a bit less than the difference between the Xbox One and PS4. I'd personally choose the Pro for the much more impressive exclusives line-up, but again, an opinion. I personally don't have an interest in 4K Blu ray movies, and I can't discern resolution differences as well as some can. Probably just need to be closer to my TV.

After reading the post, I'm going to start a new trend in 2017. Any developer who bashes any console manufacturer for any reason (excluding something serious) will be boycotted. I get so tired of developers always trash talking other console manufacturers just to get that added bonus, to release games on the competitors console later. Just say "there's certain aspects the Scorpio has the Pro doesn't" and be done with it. Calling the PS4 Pro a half assed upgrade just proves you were either paid to say it, or biased.

I don't see Kojima trash talking Xbox, he just says he prefers Sony for certain things; that's respectable.

So many people still haven't seen through the fact that the PS4 Pro (and very like the XB1 Scorpio), aren't as powerful as they appear to be. These console have much more GPU than their vanilla counterparts, but the CPU is very much unchanged (ignoring clock speeds). The Scorpio very likely uses a 8 core jaguar CPU, that is upclocked to 2-2.5 ghz, instead of the 1.75 ghz of the original XB1.

The XB1 Scorpio is very much just a mid-gen upgrade. The 360 was over 5 times as powerful as the OG Xbox, vastly superior to its older sibling interms of GPU, ram, and CPU. The Scorpio has better ram and GPU than the base XB1, but the overall power very likely isn't the touted 4 times power increase, just like the PS4 pro isn't really twice as power as the vanilla PS4. Then you have to factor in diminishing returns, which affects hardware and real-world performance more and more as processing power increases.

So both MS and Sony create a console based around PC architecture so logically EVERY upgrade can be called "Next generation" in exactly the same way a PC gamer might upgrade the graphics card and CPU of his PC. The result for PC has been backwards compatibility and now consoles will also follow that same path. Gone are the days when the next console was totally incompatible with it's previous version due to totally different architecture.

When you buy your new Android / IOS phone; is it an upgrade or a new generation or effectively both.

Listen.... things change.. people want access to high end console specs AND access to their current gen and past gen games. Its a new approach.. remove fanboys and this is obviously a new approach and xbox must respond to the PS4 pro... anything other than PlayStation's approach at the exact same time results in all anti xbox people to flip out... on this site im particular. Duh!!. You don't announce a mid gen upgrade 18 months out from its release.

After everything MS threw at Sony they realise that their only option was a reboot. However they knew it would piss off fans further if they pulled a x360. They lied to gamers that it was just an upgrade to make them feel better and xbox gamers took it and going so far as defending it.

we dont have the console to try for our self but going from a console that has 1.8 tf to one that has been rumored to have 6 where they aim is to have native 4k games. i can see why he would say this a new generation if its truly doing all the things its suppose to do if so xbox will probably get the 3rd party support again having the stronger console

If this is true. Then I think console players should start preparing for another "upgrade" every 3-4 years in the future.Next will be Sony to outperform scoprio then microsoft will release another scorpiobox one to counter that and so on.

Of course it is the next gen machine. Everything is brand new tech, except the GDDR5 ram. Microsoft can tell whatever they want, but gamers should know better.

This is the next Xbox, MS are trying to get a headstart on the competition by saying it's not next gen, but it wouldn't surprise me if very close to release they use the next gen word.

I'm hoping that it does have some exclusive titles that truly take advantage of the hardware. I have a xbox 1 S, and I'd like for the Scorpio to play most games on all xbox ones, but I'd still like for them to develop some titles , built from the ground up, to truly take advantage of the hardware. I Think that is how They will sell the most units

I think you people need to understand that xbox will never need to release a different new console again. Its going to be just like games on windows.When finally they will keep one OS and they can change the look or change whatever and just keep releasing better hardware. This bullshit where you have a console for 5 years and the games dont work on the next one is insane. Ive been playing the same games on pc on like 5 new windows OS systems updated ontop of each other.This is the xbox plan. In fact i heard sony is planning something similar. They finally have a very good OS and its based off Linux so they should for sure do the same thing.Its good for business to continue having your games. Honestly this update in specs is really not even that much different of a job from ps3/360 to ps4/xboxone. It was a small jump yet it was so called next gen consoles. PS4 Pro and this should be recognized as 10th gen consoles anyway. How a new generation is usually defined is new hardware from better chips being released and the competition aspect is another reason for these "updated" machines to and their main competition is PC. With Intel releasing a new chip that's $64 that's replacing a $110 chip on the CPU market and AMD ruling the budget GPU by releasing a GPU that has performance on par with a $200 GPU for only $100, PC gaming is getting cheaper and cheaper and consoles are having a hard time catching up.

I always said. Xbox Scorpio is next generation console not a part of Xbox One family. PS4 Pro is PS4 family because using same amount GDDR5 memory with higher speed, using same CPU cores with overclock and same Bluray Drive. Only GPU upgraded, console not designed new technology Chip's!

But Scorpio CPU, GPU, Memory everything design new technologies. Not anymore EsRam over there, not AMD Jaguar CPU cores, not Pitcairn AMD GPU every single chip new technologies.

And Scorpio not giving only 2.3x boost for overall performance difference like PS4 to PS4 Pro. It's gives more then 4.5x overall performance difference between orjinal Xbox One. Scorpio not a mid gen upgrade like PS4 Pro. It's totally Next Generation!

It just goes from bad to worse xbox gamers. Xbox 1 and 1S are going to be snubbed and this dev confirms it. Mark my words, It wont happen in the first few months or even the first 6 months but sooner or later Phil Spencer is going to walk onto a stage and say the last words Xbox 1 gamers will want to hear. "Next, a game that will be exclusive to the Scorpio" (or whatever the name will be then)

For Xbox it is. And it is what we wanted when we considered next gen but weren't willing to pay 3 yrs ago. I thinks with the advent of 4 k and VR though, it worked out well. Instead of paying $700, we pay twice over 6 yrs.

But Xbox may have considered going next gen and putting real pressure on Sony and Nintendo. They have BC so they could have also compensated current owners in some way. Siftware could have mirrored this gen, offering games on both systems for awhile, but creating new software for Scorpio.

Sony would have to make a move, and Nintendo would be in real trouble!

Either way, it's a new console and I'm excited. I wouldn't say PS4 Pro was half*** though. I mean, it was a decent little upgrade. Idk. I'm not into all these console wars. I like the PS4 Pro- got my PSVR and Vita, but also have a Wii U and 3DS and 2 Switches preordered, and an Xbox One and Gaming PC. And will definitely be getting Scorpio day one.

While other people play one single console and mock all the rest, pretending they're getting all the best games and none of the other consoles are "worth buying", I'm playing all the consoles and ACTUALLY AM getting all the best games.

No chance after the leaked White paper at digital foundry, remember they had the pro spec months before and it was 100% Scorpio shows a similar technique to checkerboard rendering, I thought it as a true 4K machine, the chip has been downgraded too. Now if I was a MS fan I would be furious, I understand marketing speak but come on digital foundry said the console can not be the beast MS said it is.
