I am super pleased with this game. It has some design flaws/inconsistencies. For example, the game leans a bit towards trial and error instead of presenting crucial game mechanics (e.g. hiding in the dark or behind cover to evade enemies).

Other than that, it's a well-made game. Without a doubt I can say this is a true Resident Evil game. I am excited for RE8 given they will improve upon everything that works well in this game.

It feels like a fresh new take on an already established franchise. It's a true RE game because Capcom said so and called it RE7. All I know is I'm really enjoying it so far!

After 10 - 15 entries in a series, it is the game that makes name, not the other way around. No, this is not a Resident Evil game. It's a generic, and drastic change to a first person horror game, with some "very" light Resident Evil ties to it.

In all honesty, I'm surprised Capcom would not have taken this game, put a different name on it, and had a new IP to cater to that audience.

Given the reception RE Revelations 1 and 2 had gotten, it seemed like they had found their sweet spot in terms of mixing old and new. Albeit, Revelations were "budget" titles. Taken that design approach with a mainstream budget however, could have likely delivered something that truly "is" a Resident Evil game in all aspects.

i really like this game but im sorry, this shouldn't have been called resident evil 7 at all. there's barely a connection with the main series. i believe this was going to be a new game and that got scared it wouldn't sell so they slapped the name resident evil on it and put some very small stuff regarding the franchise and called it today...

and the puzzles in this game is very easy and stupid , remember the clock tower puzzle in RE3 and how the nemesis ruine your hard work after that ( do you remember that feel ? ) ? the pictures puzzles in RE1 and RE code veronica ?

where is the escape alarm that we love to hear in the end of each old RE games ( 0, 1 , 2 , 3 , code veronica ) ?

there is more and a lot of things that make RE7 NOT a True Resident Evil Game

There will never be another Resident Evil like one two and three and also Nemesis and also Code Veronica X. Those that are still clamoring for a horror survival game this is as close to that as youre going to get. Now, the question is, is this a good horror video game and it is a resounding yes. There are so many times during the video game where I am scared to s*** and believe it or not that is hard to do to me in a video game. This is the best interation of a Resident Evil game since more than 10 years ago and anyone that plays it going into it thinking negatively like I did you will be in for a huge surprise. I would easily give this game a 9/10 and it runs buttery smooth on my PlayStation 4 Pro.

I was actually alive and played those games when they released. If you want those games go replay them... They have shitty camera angles and have not aged well. At the end of the day its Capcoms property they can do what they wish with it. Also, they are fighting to keep themselves relevant. At this point there are so many varied and types of RE games that you can literally pull out of bag the kind of experience you wish to have and you'll get it.
Nothing wrong with this new game, its just not pure RE. That's reserved for the PlayStation 1 game back in yesteryear.

The game is over-hyped, 60% of it is very good, after you leave the house the game becomes a boring thing and suddenly you have that feeling of a rushed and incomplete game and regret spending full 60$ on it, some minuses are later bosses that suck i mean they suck, some dude out there at Capcom couldn't resist to exaggerate again in old fashion mode, the game did a good job in the first half, why the hell they went retard after that??? and not to mention the lack of enemies complexity, the end leaves you scratching your head and you realize that you were on a hype train but it's time to leave it.
