Splatoon 2's problem isn't too much wet paint; it's the fact that the game is using all the same shades as its predecessor.

Development builds of several titles for the Nintendo Switch, including Splatoon 2 and Project Harmony, have reportedly been leaked.

Nintendo has recently restored Wii U Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon online after five months of being offline.

Game Rant Writes "Mar10 Day is a fun yearly celebration of the Super Mario series, and Splatoon may warrant a fan-designated day of celebration in its own right."
It's good that there's a Splatoon game on the Switch at least.
Oh nintendon't..
Though to be honest are ports and sequels like this an issue on switch? I think most of their wii u library should be playable on switch. So few people had a wii u that this makes sense. They just need to ensure they have new games coming as well. Which they seem to with 2 fire emblem titles added today, fire Emblem warriors being released this year and the other fire emblem next year.
I can't wait to play it as I didn't play the original on Wii U as soon as rumors started spreading it was heading to Switch. But even fans of the first now get a new game.
I really hope this doesn't become the new thing to complain about. Mostly because you can say the same about a LOT of sequels over the years and it isn't suddenly a problem just because Nintendo is doing it.
"Befuddled partially because the first Splatoon didn’t really come out all that long ago"
This is another issue I simply don't get. The original released May 2015 and the sequel is set to release Summer 2017, so that is a full two years. A two year development cycle is not shocking, new or unheard of. In fact, even amazing games like Uncharted 2 and 3 released within two years of each other.
"If you look at any flagship Nintendo property, be it Mario or Zelda or just about anything else, there’s always a pattern of very noticable things being tried in each installment... That’s what seems sorely absent from Splatoon 2."
Also, lets give it some time. Especially since I don't think this is a problem with Splatoon. The game has always seemed multiplayer driven and adding something radically different might not make the most sense. Like when I play Super Smash Bros. or Mario Kart, I don't always think "oh my god, this is totally and completely different than the previous one in a way that is incredibly noticeable! How do they do it?!" In the case of for 3DS/Wii U, I don't recall anything being different and in Brawl the only notable difference I recall were final smash attacks. Mario Kart has seen a few changes, such as Double Dash, but I would be hard pressed to tell you what exactly makes Mario Kart 8 different from 7, outside of maybe track layout/the floating elements, which I don't recall making an actual difference in any real way.
The point being, I know how Zelda and Mario generally differ from one another, but the multiplayer driven games tend to stay the same in my eyes. Maybe I'm missing something, maybe you just want to find a reason to complain, but overall I don't see the issue.
