Nintendo Switch – Why the hate? Just wait!

Since the official kickoff of the Nintendo Switch back in November, and the major Nintendo conference held last Thursday, reactions have been a bit on the extreme side. So, why so much hate before the system even launches March 3, 2017?

Because people love to hate on Nintendo

With everyone living in the age of the internet, people always finds something to hate about everything! haha

Why the hate? Just wait.

Ive been waiting for over 10 years for Nintendo to Adopt features that are on playstation and xbox. The wii u failed and the switch will fail because of the same formula nintendo is doing. People shouldnt wait any longer for Nintendo to cater to them but go where the games and features are they like. The switch will fail because they wont get third party support and Nintendo doesnt have 30 game development studios to constantly make games for them. It seems like the switch is launching with literally a handful of games with a very few more to be released throughout this year.

You mean Nintendoomed ;) 💰💰💰

This is the 3rd console that is trying to be something unique without really having an identity. Was the Wii a success? Absolutely (With die hards and old people)! The Wii U was confusing to many people who thought it was portable, so they just made the Switch fit with that customer perception. Ninty is too late to the tablet party, and playing a low powered tablet on a TV doesn't really scream success either.

Ninty screwed the N64 with cartridges. They even screwed up the Gamecube with proprietary discs, a nonexistent online service, and false promises of Mature content coming to their system. Peeople don't love to hate on Ninty, it's just too easy. Switch is F'ed up generation number 5 in a row. Ninty is the Tyrone Biggums of the videogame industry.

True, they could hand out 12 gold bricks for free to everyone and people would someone find a way to complain.

"just wait" is oddly reminiscent of something we've heard about another console.

Not sure it's hate, but more impatience.

I don't really hate Switch, and I think Nintendo may be receiving a bit more grief than is deserved after the reveal, but if Nintendo wants us to be impressed, then obviously they need to provide something better. On top of that, some of the things they're pushing just seem archaic compared to the competition....most notably, the online chat, free games, and gimmicky hardware sold with gimmicky software(1,2,Switch)

There's nothing that irks gamers more than being asked to drop a lot of money to support our gaming addiction, on the assumption that something better is going to be offered in the future. It takes a while to grow that trust, and not very long to lose it. Nintendo, IMO, has lost that trust. Not from their first party support, just in their ongoing support of the console itself.

I do believe Switch will be a long term thing for them though. Likely will supplant both the console and the handheld market for the long term. I wouldn't doubt they even get in on this mid-gen upgrade crap, and released a new switch model in the next few years, because it's not unheard of in their handheld lines anyways. That's one of the reasons I was kind of excited over Nintendo's patent on expanding processing power through daisy chaining devices.

Only the diehard nintendo fans who don't want to accept reality are supporting the switch. The switch should not be the same price as the PS4 with its lowtech specs and poor 3rd party support.

CrimsonPheonix3434d ago

It's portable. I bet you end up buying one.

DivoJones3434d ago

Probably something to do with paying more than an XB1\PS4 for an underpowered 'console' with not-great battery life, no pack-in game, and gouged peripheral prices to name the first 3 things that immediately come to mind. I'm sure it'll sell well out of the gate to the Nintendo faithful and eBay resellers only to trail off as people start to realize they already beat Zelda and now have to wait half a year for the next first-party game release. Enjoy!

superchiller3434d ago

Oh I'll wait alright. I'm ready to buy a Switch once it hits the bargain bin for $99 or less.

Nintendo is the ex they can't forget about and it drives them mad.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing45d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9245d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit45d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing45d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9245d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
