Super Mario Odyssey Development is Considerably Finished

Super Mario Odyssey received a stage show at the Nintendo Switch Experience this past weekend. Aside from the brief bit of footage highlighting Mario’s moves, a few tidbits about the game were also shared. Development on Super Mario Odyssey is considerably finished, so producer Yoshiaki Koizumi wants people to get their hands on it.

Then make it a Dam launch game, seriously this game would seal the deal for allot of people. Oh well I have mine pre ordered send paid off in full so regardless I will be getting mine since Iam a sucker for anything gaming

Summons753414d ago

nearly finished ≠ finished also why are you hell bent on Nintendo killing their own games sales or not having a holiday title? Good thing you don't work for the industry or you'd be done in a day.

captainexplosion3414d ago

You think it would hurt Switch sales by them having a better launch lineup?

_-EDMIX-_3414d ago

This company is as dumb as bricks if this game is almost complete and actually would have made much more sense to Simply move the launch of the platform around the launch of Mario so they had a stronger line-up I'm still not understanding their desperation to sell this Hardware without software especially considering if they wait till fall they could have a much more respectable launch.

Everything about this platform that sounds rushed and greedy...

Excuse me, but the industry hires guys like him! All games these days are released unfinished... I don't like it, but that's the way things are

to me nothing in gaming is more special than the release of a super Mario game along with a consoles release. Gamecube failed with this, now switch is too.

higgins783414d ago

Gamecube failed nothing. Arguably the best launch lineup of any console to date. Bought Luigi's Mansion, Monkey Ball and Rouge Squadron II...fun, fun, fun.

_-EDMIX-_3414d ago

Luigi's Mansion is still one of my favorite games on the GameCube!

I'm definitely hoping they create a Luigi's Mansion 3!

eagle213414d ago

OMG EDMIX, you like a Nintendo game?

Glad to hear it, I would have never thought though...lol.

You're always guaranteed to receive a new Mario title within the first year of a Nintendo platform

I'm excited it's almost here

Personally I'm glad it comes out late 2017. I didn't want to have to choose between Zelda and Mario especially since both are open world. Mario Odyssey aso still seems like a WIP to me anyway. Even with the extended footage from the Japanese Treehouse event they didn't show all that much. Just more of the city which looked rough in some spots. Definitely not as good as the other locales that were shown.

NotoriousWhiz3414d ago

People are more likely to buy new games, than older games that they missed out on because there was something they were more interested in. It makes sense in that regard, but that doesn't mean we have to like it. Also, not everyone is interested in Zelda and Mario, so those gamers who only want Mario will have to wait even though they may not be playing Zelda. That said, the graphics in the Switch presentation looked a little rough around the edges (not much better than Galaxy 2 IMO), therefore, it could probably use some more optimizations before release.

..It's America again. Articles a waste of time for the rest of the world.

Whilst true let’s not forget this is a Nintendo “sale.” Not much of a bargain worldwide anyways lol

Fantastic game. By far my favorite 3D Mario.

repsahj204d ago

I bought the switch 1 Mario odyssey bundle when it came out. Good thing Nintendo didn't charge for the switch 2 upgrade.

Bit like comparing a truck to a car.

8bitAssassin259d ago

Donkey Kong is an average game. Mario Kart is now neutered and watered down. I'm hoping Metroid is at least above average.

Neonridr259d ago

Donkey Kong had so much more than they showed in the direct. Not to spoil anything but considering people were assuming there'd be like 4 or 5 "worlds" in total, many were shocked to find out just how far the game keeps going.

I'm having a blast with the game myself, but to each their own. MK is a solid entry in the series, is it the best? Debatable. But it's not like it's a bad game at all.

8bitAssassin259d ago

I feel your assessment. The destruction & playability in DK is phenomenal. MK has a ton to unluch and some dope tracks. It's something about both that didn't punch in areas where it needed the most.

Shiro173259d ago

Mario odyssey definitely beats DKB but it's not to say DKB is a bad game at all.

gold_drake203d ago

i wouldnt compare these games at all.

but, having played both, Odyssey is the better game.
