Nintendo Switch Launch Lineup Is Predictable And Woefully Lacking

The launch lineup for Nintendo’s new console has been revealed and frankly, it’s just one giant kick in the face. FOUR games at launch? Seriously?!

Summons753412d ago (Edited 3412d ago )

But if they put all their heavy hitters on one day killing each others sales then you would cry because "they released too much at once". No pleasing child bloggers. Nintendo was smart to move all their bigger titles out of the way of Zelda. Plus let's be real, there hasn't been a "good" launch line up for any system in a long time.

Talking nonsense once more.
"if they put all their heavy hitters on one day killing each others sales then you would cry"
Never seen anybody complain of too many games, i think the more the better and especially to justify a very high price and some retarded decisions (like online paywall..). Nobody is asking for ONLY heavy hitters, nor for such a ridiculous lineup of games.

"there hasn't been a "good" launch line up for any system in a long time."
At least there was a certain variety, like on the wii u with titles like Batman, FIFA, ZombiU, Mass Effect 2, Darksiders 2, COD, New super Mario U, Scribblenauts, Sonic Transformed...
Zelda is coming to Wii U as well, so gamers still MUCH more to finally jump in. There are way many (joy) cons than pros

Thunder_G0d_Bane3412d ago

Wii U still failed, so launch lineup made no difference.

And guess what PS4/X1 launch lineup sucked and they're doing much better than the Wii U.... Go figure... Launch lineups don't mean sh*t, the proof is in the pudding.

bouzebbal3412d ago

@Thunder_G0d_Bane:
1- track record.. PS and xbox have a much better one for the hardcore gamers, not sure who nintendo want to target everytime.
2- flexible fanbase, nintendo only rely on their old fanbase from the 90s. Only this category of people is able to enjoy a zelda or a mario game. Ask any 15-20year old if they ever played a zelda..
3- gimmick feel of the consoles, it is more like a companion and not a primary console of choice. Now with handheld/home console it's even more confusing and gimmicky.
4-if wiiu flopped with these very reasons and with many more games at launch...... for the first time i don't have a good feeling about this.

@Thunder_G0d_Bane

PS4 and X1 had some great 3rd party titles and the WiiU failed and the reason for that is not having 3rd party support. Proof is in the pudding as you say.

Thunder, while the WiiU launch lineup wasn't great since it had a lot of games people already played it had at least a higher amount of good games people can choose from. It probably didn't help that they looked marginally better than the previous generation games compared to the larger leap the PS4 and X1 made.

I'm not sure why people think the PS4/X1 launch lineup sucked. You had all the important AAA games at launch and with Black Flag one of the best AC games.

PS4 and X1 had a good launch lineup and a steady flow of games after launch. They had CoD, Battlefield, all the sports games, Resogun, Killzone, Forza, Dead Rising. Compared to the Switch that is a stellar launch lineup and people still complained that there haven't been enough games. Also not everyone plays Zelda and people will still be able to get it for the WiiU.

Switch can't even get a 6 year old game ready for launch. The lack of third party support is worrying and Nintendo need to get it into their head that their games alone won't cut it and that they need proper third party support, but that's difficult when you deliver yet again underpowered hardware.

Will pick one up one day for sure just for the upcoming exclusives itll get. I do agree that the launch is weak but if Nintendo play their cards right then they could turn the tables similar to what they did with the 3ds....or end up like the wii u which I really hope wont happen.

Shuckylad3412d ago

A new Wave race and Pilotwings game would of been a great launch option, followed by a new F-Zero before Christmas.

DC7773412d ago

I would have liked to see Skyrim or at least 1 3rd party game. There is only Zelda, the rest are not major games.

Miss_Weeboo3412d ago

Agree. That's why I never buy a console at launch. What I don't get is why people are demanding from Nintendo what they don't from Sony or MS, they had very weak launches too!!!
Stop hating people. You will buy the console or not... But let Nintendo be Nintendo. You're asking the most original videogame company ever, "hey, be like the others"

ninsigma3412d ago

Yeah ps4 and xbo launches weren't the best either but they had third party multiplats that Nintendo doesn't.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing22d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9222d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit22d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing22d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9221d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
