Nintendo's Switch makes a great first impression - Engadget

Engadget: "In my hands is Nintendo's Switch, a $300 (£280 in the UK) console that's like nothing I've held before. Well, it's like quite a few things, but nonetheless a unique device."

loool not in n4g the community here hates everything

Gaming_Cousin3415d ago

Yeah because everyone else other than N4G is fine with 2 1/2 hour battery life, $70-80 controllers, a weak console, and another online subscription

a7madRyan3415d ago

wait for the scorpio and play with it 360 games i have both xbox shit and ps4 i want something different for the next 3 years i want mario zelda and the rest nintendo games if i want to play cod or red dead or mass effect i will buy thm on pc or ps4 but for nintendo games the switch is perfect for me

SR3883415d ago

How is it a weak console? Lol

GameBoyColor3415d ago

The pro controller and joycons to an extent are justified in there price i think. All that tech in them and still joycons get 20 hour battery life and the pro with the same tech gets 40! Literally something nintendo should highlight in the coming weeks

Sopota3415d ago

The battery life was stated at 3 1/2 minimum. Do you ever game with a smartphone, tablet or portable console? Because no device lasts more than 4 hours with a graphics intensive game.

jaymacx3415d ago

@Gaming_Cousin have you played it yet? There's negative to all consoles. But its the enjoyment I get from them that justifies the cost of admission. There is cutting edge tech in the joy-cons. Zelda and more coming. Plus You don't need to buy so many controllers when you get a Switch. you basically get 2 with every console. if you want a Pro controller then you pay 70. People have been complaining about Nintendos online for years and now we are getting better online but at a cost (not really a fan of online).

n4g don't write the articles they just post them on here to share. So the negative thoughts are out there in the real world being written up by journalists not us

edit: wtf is a breh. Also my point flew past you like tumble weed, it's not just n4g otherwise all the negative articles would have been written by us not other Web sites.

Gazondaily3415d ago

Mr Magoo...he's talking about the users on here breh

N4g community is small compared to the world 😅. Switch is already sold out on Amazon lol. Can't wait to get mine!

The device itself and the games aren't the problem. It's EVERYTHING else surround it.

1. The horrible price of the console.
2. The horrible price of the accessories.
3. The horrible online concept and charging for it.
4. The lack of games so far at launch.
5. The lack of western 3rd party support is apparent.
6. The lack of hardware specs being revealed.

Everything surrounding the Switch outside of 1st party support, Japanese support, and the device itself are the problems.

They need to:

1. Cut the price of the console $50 and add 1 / 2 Switch in for free (no one is buying it anyway at $50)
2. Reduce the prices of the accessories (not immediately necessary, Black Friday will fix this)
3. Get the Virtual Console up, and use it as the free games TO KEEP!!! 1 3D / 1 Retro ($20 for the service)
4. Get Wii U ports ready for launch - holiday 2017 (Get best of Wii U on the Switch)
5. Do all the above so sales for the system pick up and western support picks up as well (at least eSports)
6. Reveal if it's running Tegra X1 or Tegra X2 / P1 (get it out of the way, hiding will only make it worse)
7. Quickly make a SKU that comes with nothing but the Switch and the Joy-Cons for $199

If Nintendo wants to succeed they need change all of this immediately. Matter of fact they need to hire me immediately as their crisis management.

andrewsquall3415d ago

So does IGN and Gamespot and Eurogamer. Its not going down well anywhere. A "great first impression"??? Yeah for people like you and Engadget living in a Nintendo happy bubble crazy world.

Glad to see a postive reaction to the Switch! Cant wait to get my hands on mine!

ILostMyMind3415d ago (Edited 3415d ago )

"Great first impression"? Definitely not. But I enjoyed it except for the price.

Summons753415d ago

It's really making my lol how the rumored price was 250 - 300 with everyone saying that was okay but now that they revealed the price it's "fffffff y u no price at $5!!!!" Ridiculous. 250 would have been perfect but you can't be mad because they choose the higher price which give them more room to price cut later without taking a hit in profits. 300 is fine. As for the launch titles, it's kind of a drag but Zelda is all anyone is going to be playing even if they launched all their heavy hitters on day 1...why risk canniblazing sales when you know Zelda is the biggest anticipated game of the year (for Nintendo at least)

ILostMyMind3415d ago (Edited 3415d ago )

I do not know if everyone was saying that $300 was good, for me it never was. I expected $250 initially and $200 as soon as possible. This would be the price i would pay. But, yeh, Nintendo made its choices. Let's see if it work.

Zikax3415d ago

its gona be a great console. Zelda is on the way and thats everything i want for this year.

slappy5083415d ago

Looking forward to the near future lineup. I haven't invested in a Nintendo console in a long time but this one is going to break the mould

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle24d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted
