So...are there zombies/virus in the game, or what is it about?I am kinda confused as to the plot besides the house demo that's been out for a while...

AntiZeal0t3424d ago

So far the Bakers and molded creatures are the only revealed enemies. There is some sort of a virus or parasite, but not much is known. Capcom is keeping things very quiet about the plot. I guess there are notes and things in the environment that will show what happened to the family.

This is what I know or can piece together.

The Story and how it ties in RE lore is kept tight lipped! This is projected to be around 15 hours to complete. That could range from lower around 12 up to around 20 total. There will be lots of secrets and replayability. No one will find everything at once and the community will sort of discover everything together through forums as they talk about it.

The Deluxe Edition comes with 1 full story chapter (Perhaps a moment in the past or Epilogue?) and 4 DLC short stories (Maybe similar to TAPEs where they reveal things about the main game in increments.)

First Person perspective.

Ethan Winters is going to this house in the bayou to find his wife. She contacted him 3 years after she died.

The Baker family controls different parts of the house like Nemesis styles bosses.

Margret Baker is a SciFi Horror person with locust-like powers and speed.

Jack Baker is slow and Texas Chainsaw horror with Unstoppable strength.

Unknown the connection of "ghosts" to the story as per the demo.

There are other family members but they have not been revealed as their purpose.

The old lady is Aunt Rhody.

Molded are enemies in the game. They have hit detection on their body. ie You can shoot them in the leg and run if you choose, use multiple bullets in their face, or a combo of both, like using a bullet to knock them down and then another melee weapon to finish them off.

There is environment interaction in combat.

Weapons confirmed: handguns, hatchet, chainsaw, shotgun... so far.

Coins found in the game unlock bird cages throughout the game. They have needle like (Bioshock Plasmids-like) that add perks to your character like "increased health." - These are your stores if I may.

The house is open like RE1. You find keys, items, and such to unlock secrets, open up areas and progress the game. This is not like "Adventure Game" style of older REs. For example, a Key will be grounded in reality much better than before. A gem will make sense if it unlocks something.

There are a lot of puzzles to solve and find. Puzzles are more than a "key."

You will hide from enemies as you navigate the game's areas. You will be forced to fight sometimes, but given a choice to run often. There will be times when you are in a highly stressful situation and the game will force you to be afraid.

Game is 100% playable in VR.

There are Tapes that play small segments in the past, reveal story and history, but also act a "time puzzles" with the example in the demo where you can 'unlock' a draw in the past (on the Tape) and it will be unlocked in the future.

The DEMO has shown a majority of these classic features in action and how they work very well. (PS Capcom says there are still secrets to discover in RE7 demo). IGN and other have talked about what was allowed form their 4 hours of gameplay.

At first I was like, No Code Veronica on the list!? But then I seen Mainline. The list checks out, but I would personally put 2 over 4.

KwietStorm_BLM95d ago

I'll take 2 over 4 also. And even without a number, I don't see how Code Veronica, my other favorite in the franchise, isn't mainline when it's the actual sequel to RE2.

Rebel_Scum95d ago

The original RE was the best. Its not on the list which makes no sense.

The remake of it was alright but should be higher on this list.

-Foxtrot95d ago

The original RE smokes VII and Village, come on.

ivoryrolland9576d ago

i’m fine with people calling it “mainline,” but leaving out the original re1 entirely is wild, since it basically defines the whole series. i’d still put re2 over re4 for pure pacing and atmosphere, even though re4 is the more replayable game. also, the “mainline” label gets messy with code veronica since it feels more essential than some numbered entries. i swear half the time i’m reading these rankings i get derailed by random gambling tabs i opened earlier, including https://monopolybigballerli... and https://football-studio-dic... and https://red-baron.org/ which is a weird contrast to talking about survival horror.
