Nintendo Should Not Include VR on the Switch

There’s a lot we still don’t know about Nintendo’s latest console, most of which will likely be revealed in their upcoming presentation. One thing in particular has gotten people talking, and that’s as to whether or not Nintendo will hop on board the VR train with Sony and Microsoft. Of course Nintendo is known for their failed attempt with the Virtual Boy in the past and there’s no doubt they could make a better attempt at it today, but it still feels like it’s too early for Nintendo to dive into VR seriously. It’s not just that Nintendo’s console that isn’t ready, which has yet to be seen, but VR as a whole still has a way to go before it’s more than just gimmicky.

Focus on releasing a platform that is competitive and full of content. Then we can worry about VR and other optional stuff.

It's not powerful enough for VR.

conanlifts3420d ago

It's more powerful than a smartphone. Plus it's not too big so maybe they will strap a headset cover to the tablet to make it a gear vr type head set.

Neither is the PS4 lol. VR is still far off. It's just an idea at the moment and won't take off.

I know they have a patent for the Switch to work as VR .. but maybe they should just make a completely new headset with upgraded hardware. But right now I am not concerned about this. Just wanna see Switch do well.

If they do it'll be terrible. The screen will likely be 720p, and anyone who's used Google cardboard on even a 1080p phone, knows that the blurriness and screendoor effect is awful. Needs a dedicated device.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit26d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing26d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9226d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
