Battelfield 1 was expected to be a hit for Electronic Arts this year, but that doesn't mean a new version is coming out in 2017.

That's okay, battlefield 1 can easily hold me occupied for 2 years, great game with lot's of stuff still to come.

KyRo3442d ago

Now see im struggling to keep hooked and this is someone whos put in alot of hours into the BF series. I think its the lack of stuff to unlock. Leveling up seems pointless as it grants you with nothing. I know WW1 had very little in the way of customisation on weapons but it gives you less of a insentive to use different guns because theres no unlocks to earn.

skidmarc3442d ago

I'm still having fun with the game but the unlocks are terrible in this game. I agree that leveling up gives you nothing in this game.

madforaday3442d ago

That is the problem with MP games you two want all these customizations and unlocks to keep you playing. I want a MP that is balanced so you can get better and better. I am soo happy that there isn't so many unlockables so now on the battlefield you know what you are getting yourself into. I keep playing BF because I want to become better, not to unlock things. I should already have everything unlocked since I paid 60 bucks for the game. My favorite MP games are games that you don't have any unlock system.

That is what frustrating with MP gaming now is because people just play the MP to unlock things not to become better. I wouldn't mind the ability to customizing your solider (realistic uniforms) or have your medals that you completed be on your uniform. I would like to see more options for skins, I am a level 74 and I still haven't had a skin that I use yet. I get skins of weapons that I don't use. I feel like that is wrong but who knows.

Atmus3442d ago

Its funny you say that i had bought both titanfall and bf1, and i can say im a hc bf fan and just bc of the lack of unlockables im prone to playing titanfall. Anywho both games are great but my fps shooter for this year is titanfall, first time i enjoy a cod type of game (always hated it) gotta have me some titty lmao

_-EDMIX-_3442d ago

I only play to get unlocks for a small amount of time, maybe 30 hours at best, then...I'll likely spend 200 to 300 hours just actually...you know....playing the game.

I find the set up I like and I just stick with it, I rarely jump from gun to gun, I think at most I might use 4 different sniper rifles only based on situation, rush, conquest, mid range, long range etc.

Other then that, I don't really care about getting junk to unlock, my goal is simply to win the match with a set up I feel comfortable with.

I don't care about customization bud, I don't care about weapon unlocks, I don't care about much of that junk, I simply care about winning the match and the strategy of the game. I don't know If I've ever cared about the unlocks that much in most BF titles. Once I have a set up, I just stay with it.

I mean....I've used the Type 88 on BF3 and BF4 as my main LMG and might have only tried out a few others for fun.

My main guns based on class, FAMAS or M16, Type 88, GOL or Type 88 Sniper, UMP and sometimes the P90....thats about it. I legit did like 300 hours in BF4 with just those only occasionally switching to try out different set ups.

I don't see me changing that with BF1, I'll just find what I feel ok with and just focus on the game. I just don't know how many folks really care that much about getting a bazillion guns lol

_-EDMIX-_3442d ago

@Mad- 1000% agreed.

You get it! lol

franwex3442d ago (Edited 3442d ago )

What? I hate multiplayer games were we have to unlock stuff. I much rather have everything.

Dirtnapstor3442d ago

BF3 has my favorite unlocking system. It is/was very challenging.

WellyUK3442d ago

leveling up has always given you nothing after about level 50...

We know, battlefield and star wars will alternate years. This is nothing new.

CorndogBurglar3442d ago

Do you really think Battlefront 2 will be ready for 2017? Not being a smartass. Just asking. We haven't seen or heard anything about it. Just seems kind of soon.

All I know is they better make some serious changes to it if they want my money again.

zivtheawesome3442d ago

actually they already said it'll release 2017, and with a campaign this time.

Nitrowolf23442d ago (Edited 3442d ago )

It wont be hard to pump out a star wars game every two years if its battlefront. The hard stuff has already passed with battlefront 1, now they just do copy and paste, fine tune things and release it.

Its coming 2017

_-EDMIX-_3442d ago

Well the sequels of games come out faster based on already having a finished concept and the engine is already done, mind you we don't know when they started production on Battlefront 2 so I think fall 2017 makes sense, but could slip into 2018 spring.

I don't know about making changes. I personally didn't care that much for Battlefront 1, only put like 20 hours into it. For those that like it, I want it to stay the same, why should they change it for me when someone likes how it is currently? I want modes like Rush and conquest.....but then again I love Battlefield and I think maybe its best they make it for those who love Battlefront. I mean, it wouldn't hurt to add those modes, but I wouldn't want to take anything away from those who are out there putting in huge hours in BF based on liking it currently.

I'm not sure what I want from Battlefront 2. A single player story like in Battlefield 1 would be cool, but I don't see me buying it simply to play that. Don't get me wrong, DICE did a ok job with Battlefront 1's story, but......I wouldn't tell anyone to buy it simply for that, really...don't.

I would like a mode like Titan Mode from BF2142 as I think it would fit Star Wars IP. I also want classes back as I might just want to focus on a role like medic or support etc.

Swiftfox3442d ago

I certainly don't see why not. All the assets exist for the game thanks to the first installment, no conquest mode so no need for excessive cutscenes, script-writing, or dialogue recording, and EA most likely just wants a new Star Wars game out with each new numbered film in the franchise. You know EA's saying "Ship it...or else."

@ Corndog I know we havnt seen anything but since it is a dice title it just makes sense for them to hype whichever game is actually coming out this year. All they have to do is wait for Star wars episode viii commercials to start, piggyback Battlefront 2 commercials and boom, instant hype. We will see the game revealed at E3 or before.

CorndogBurglar3442d ago (Edited 3442d ago )

Well, I mean they only announced Battlefield 1 a few months before it launched, so I suppose you are right.

But to me they need to fix a LOT this time around.

Get rid of Star Cards and make classes

Allow Squads

More modes that are actually fun to play other than Walker Assault

More vehicles for the rebels other than friggin' useless Speeder Bikes

Flying controls need an overhaul

Space Battles with actual missions like Destroy the opposing team's capital ship and Death Star Assault (Also, let players spawn in gunner bays in the capital ships)

Physical vehicles on the map instead of picking up those dumb coins

More variety in weapons, or at least make the existing weapons feel different

Campaign or Galactic Conquest mode (Both or one or the other is fine with me)

There is a fantastic game to be had somewhere in there, it just needs to be improved on. I just worry that they won't have enough time to fix so much, or maybe they don't care and don't think they need to change anything? Who knows. I'm definitely waiting and seeing this time.

Deadpooled3442d ago

Star Wars Episode VIII had an initial release month of May 2017, but because of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 releasing in the same month Disney decided to shift the film to the December slot which has brought them movie box office success with the Force Awakens and now the excellent Rogue One.

Paytaa3442d ago

Battlefront 2 is why. Hopefully they add way more content than the previous one. The original Battlefront 2 was so good back in the day on the OG Xbox.

Aenea3442d ago

And Battlefront 1 was why there was no battlefield game in 2015, but what was the reason for it in 2014????

_-EDMIX-_3442d ago

To actually work more on Battlefront 1, Battlefield 1 and Mirror's Edge.

EA made it clear that rushing out a BF game made them look bad and hurt consumers and sales. No one won because of BF4 being rushed.

http://www.gamespot.com/art...

I think it was wise to push back Hardline as whats the point of releasing a game on time if its full of bugs and the concept is not as complete as the team would like it to be?

Relientk773442d ago

Star Wars this year, Battlefield next. Both are now every other year

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio32d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing32d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9232d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit32d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing32d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9232d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

To be fair, there are also human made games that release and lack any fun at all either.

jznrpg36d ago

But all of the great games have been made by humans

jwillj2k435d ago

One is by choice, the other is a feature.

PRIMORDUS36d ago

Guild Wars 2 been playing for 14yrs, 1st beta. This is just one company I support, Arenanet and NCSoft, even though I torrent, there are a few PC companies I will buy from. "PlayStation’s Horizon MMO spin-off, Horizon Steel Frontiers." I feel this will be good, NCSoft is a good developer/publisher.

CrimsonWing6935d ago

It’s a tool. Use it elevate things and get it done faster. I’m sorry but not every game made by humans is good. If this can help things, then I fully embrace it.
