Nintendo Switch VR Head mount accessory - A personal take on the matter

Just recently, the “Business Insider” published an article on Nintendo’s latest addition for the Nintendo Switch (the Switch VR Head mount accessory ). So here´s my (David Lucas, TGG) thoughts on the matter.

Aenea3452d ago

If it's true that the Switch uses a 720p screen and this VR set uses the Switch as it's screen I really don't wanna know how big those pixels are gonna look......

TGG_overlord3452d ago

Not to be mean or anything, but that´s what I thought about as well...

Littil_Devil3452d ago

To be fair, I´m quite sure that you´re far from the only one that has thought of that (me and Aenea have the same thoughts as you on the matter, for example).

Simon_the_sorcerer3452d ago

I sure hope that it won´t turn out to be a Virtual Boy 2.0.

Littil_Devil3452d ago

Didn´t Sony state that it takes a lot of hardware power in-order to deliver a "good" VR experience? My point would be that will the Switch really have enough hardware power to offer its players a worthy VR gameplay experience?

Simon_the_sorcerer3452d ago

Isn´t that one of the reasons why Sony released the PS4 Pro console?

DanteVFenris6663452d ago

You develop games that use was resources. It's pretty simple.

That being said I'm not sure how much a vr Nintendo unit wouldn't sell. While I love Nintendo and prefer it over my PS4 some days. It's having trouble selling its own console let alone an addition for it. Unless it's using a third party vr support which would be the best option

DanteVFenris6663452d ago

You make a game with less graphics and the likes. Than pump up the things that vr needs

TGG_overlord3452d ago

I do recall that, yes. In the matter of fact, I´m quite sure that´s why they made the PS4 Pro console (ONE of the reasons).

Sharky2313452d ago

It won't!! If the switch's CPU is lowered in portable mode to save battery... then it definitely won't have enough power to work properly!!

"I really don't wanna know how big those pixels are gonna look......"
If it turns out to look like crap, then I have no idea (whatsoever) how Nintendo intends to sell their VR accessory to Gamers worldwide.

Littil_Devil3452d ago

I´m still not quite sure if I will buy the Switch or not...And I wonder if VR will work all that well on the Switch?

Simon_the_sorcerer3452d ago

The launch price and game lineup will make or break that Switch for me and many others.

Warshade3452d ago

I'm okay with Nintendo taking a good long time to come into the VR realm.

Simon_the_sorcerer3452d ago

Same here, but I´m somewhat worried that Nintendo´s VR tech and services won´t work all that well due to lack of enough raw hardware power.

TGG_overlord3452d ago

As long as it´s not Virtual Boy 2.0, then I´m all cool with it.

Simon_the_sorcerer3452d ago

I wonder how much money people are willing to pay for the Switch console on release? Furthermore, how good will the VR experience be on the console really?

TGG_overlord3452d ago (Edited 3452d ago )

@Simon_the_sorcerer "I sure hope that it won´t turn out to be a Virtual Boy 2.0."
Only time will tell, but I truly hope that´s not the case. Because the Virtual Boy actually made me lose my lunch.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing32d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9232d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit32d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing32d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9232d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
