Final Fantasy XV Review (bit-tech.net)

Despite its neat ideas, it’s rather difficult to recommend Final Fantasy XV.

I disagree. I'd recommend it to people who are interested in open world RPGs who don't mind Japanese styled games.

TheGamez1003440d ago

Yup its a good open world game, good graphics, and the action is there for westerners but those interested in a good memorable story, characters, and gameplay...not recommended. Its all down to which you prefer, not a great or terrible game.

KTF263440d ago

His conclusion doesn't justify the score

OrbitingTheOrb3440d ago

I just finished this game yesterday, and it's easily a 9/10. Its in my top 5 for the entire series, and its the most ive felt invested in a FF game since 10. "Reviews" like this are a complete joke to me.

Gitgud3440d ago

"The combat has a couple of other problems too. Like I said, the controls are counter-intuitive, and even once you get used to it it’s quite a messy system" Never heard anyone say this yet. I've gotten used to playing Episode Duscae controls and the full game controls, hell even if the controller scheme is "counter-intuitive" you always can try different ones. I have a friend who plays with the Type B controller scheme since he didn't like Type A's one, but not once have I heard or read that the combat system is messy until now. Jeez man, what a crap review.

MRMagoo1233440d ago

the combats not that messy it's just insanely boring

BlahBlahWhatever3440d ago (Edited 3440d ago )

Sounds fair to me & what this trash deserve, that's what every reviewer would give it if not for SE paying for good scores or if the people who did the review knew what FF means & what elements an FF require to have most of all in order to considered an FF, you can't even call that turd an FF, it's something else entirely, I doubt if even those who made it know wtf is it... I would call it a Skyrim-GTA-DMC-Bayonetta mixed thing that end up be an abomination like no other, things don't look very bright for the next FF if we take in account all the trash FF SE released the past 15 years, those guys are a lost cause.

At least DQ kept the formula a classic JRPG must have, that's a game that respect the fans of the genre & give them what they expect, that's the new day1 buy JRPG for fans of old school JRPG goodness, SE doesn't make new FF's anymore for FF fans or JRPG fans but for open world/hack n slash Western fans, they ruin the series all in the name of money & the funny thing is that it doesn't even work, but that's what happen when you sell out your core fans trying to attract a new audience, all will come back & hurt them even more in the end.

OMGLOLZ3440d ago

BlahBlahBlah whatever indeed man. A GOOD reviewer should review a game for what it is, not what they are EXPECTING it to be. That's the difference between them and a review commentor like yourself. The game itself is good, some story piece are honest to god terrible, but the mechanics are solid and rewarding allbeit a bit simple at times and the camera is wacky. The game is fun to play so says my 70 hours in it so far, and I'd probably give it an 8. Lots of great stuff in there marred by some technical and conceptual flaws and a misfiring story.

BlahBlahWhatever3440d ago (Edited 3440d ago )

"For a series universally known and loved for its emphasis on storytelling, can I recommend a Final Fantasy game despite its unsatisfying story? Instinctively I'd say no.."

This part is from the review EUROGAMER.NET did for the game, they didn't even give a recommended to FFXV because Aoife Wilson who did the review is a true fan, & true fans who were there since the SNES/PS1 days know what FF means, & what SE serve us can't be called an FF, it's a disgrace to call that trash an FF & people who give SE a free pass & swallow whole whatever SE serve them have not self respect & are not true fans for me.

Νow if a good reviewer for you is just a random dude who haven't ever spent time with a series & have no idea about past history & what is the unique features of these games, what fans love about them etc & just treat the game as another game he must review to finish his work & that's it, then good for you but my opinion is that a guy as the one I describe above must never ever do a review of such a game & stay the fck away from it, only a true fan allowed to say his opinion, FF games was always for fans most of all & then everyone else, now every time SE make a new FF game target every other random person out there who doesn't even care about the series or JRPGs in general & true fans are not even be considered anymore in their calculations, if they buy their new game then that's fine but what matters most to them is to attract new audience.

SE doesn't give a fck for old school fans & for that reason alone, for treating their core audience like that they deserve the low sales they get & low scores, FFXV have the worst metascore at metacritic.com from any main FF game, & the sales that some sites keep on repeating that are so good is not true at all, the game sell actually very bad in JPN, the worst from any main FF ever, & sales drop in general 90% after the first 1-2 weeks the game is expected to not sell much higher than what have already did, Tabata said himself in an interview that they need at least 10 million sales for the game to be considered successful they are not gonna see those numbers even in their dreams, the game after the 10 years development cycle & the crazy money they spent for marketing can be officially called a flop of gargantuan proportions, that's the truth.

kraenk123440d ago

blahblah so a "true fan" is a backwards person who can't accept change to his beloved franchise, even if it was long overdue...like OMGLOLZ said, it's not professional reviewing to hate on a game due to personal feelings. You so called true fans should move on...or just play World of Final Fantasy instead!

ninsigma3440d ago

When you use terms like true fans to signify those who are simply coincidentally old enough to have been around at the time to play the originals when they released invalidates your arguments against this game even if some of what you say is true.

Six Times When Games Turned Into A Horror Game

Ever play a game a game only to discover at some point it transforms into a horror game? No? Well Netto's Game Room shares six games that do just that!

Immediately thought of the El Dorado zombie dudes in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

raWfodog378d ago (Edited 378d ago )

Not necessarily a ‘horror’ moment, but I remember feeling really tense and anxious when the Flood were first introduced in the original Halo. I never felt more on edge or nervous in that whole game as that moment. I think it was the whole buildup that something terrible was coming but you didn’t know exactly what.

Another non-horror game that had me feeling it was Subnautica. The deep dark depths, and knowing that sea monsters were lurking nearby, had me jumping at every sound.

NettosGameRoom377d ago

That scene where you first see them attack is pretty crazy!

I remember being scared of the Asylum level in the most recent Thief game from 2014.

always liked 15, but the development was shch a shitshow. it could have been so much more.

but Tabata did a good job with what he had regardless

Ff15 was a missed opportunity from square as they transitioned from turn based to real time.

One of the issues is that it was 30 fps. The combat mechanics required precision dodges to activate Noctis teleport ability and it was difficult to do at 30 fps. I am glad they rectified that in FF16. The story and flow also felt like it went through a chopshop similar to how some live service games end up when they are trying to meet a deadline. Those extra episodes they sold as dlc should have been in the maingame.

FF15 is one of the weaker entries in the series.

Z501512d ago

Dodges don't activate the teleport ability. Teleport was R1 + O. Dodge was just the O button. Explain the Black Hood (the item that automatically Dodges for you)

TheNamelessOne512d ago

Ah yes; FF XV.
The beginning of me coming to the realization the series was no longer for me.

Michiel1989512d ago

16 was a lot better, I think 15 was just a big mess with how development went and all. The music though, one of the best in the series, probably the only reason I finished the game.

Cacabunga512d ago

At least FF15 had RPG elements . 16 was just an action game from beginning to end.

Michiel1989512d ago

I rather have a good action game than a bad rpg with 2 button combat

Cacabunga511d ago (Edited 511d ago )

Then call it something else then FF. I got scammed with FF16. Nothing of what i expected it to be.
Even the action is bad in it, especially after the demo section where absolutely nothing happens until the very end.

FF15 isnt a great game but it has some variety at least.

CrimsonWing69512d ago

That initial trailer with the Leviathan fight was the game I wish we got. The actual retail release was watchdogged to all Hell and while there’s enjoyment to be had in the game, it’s such an incomplete product and so many elements feel so slapped together without any cohesion.

Like, don’t get me wrong, I loved fishing, cooking, and the first third of the game, but I much rather they made a story that didn’t feel barely there and the the last third of the game didn’t feel so rushed and unfinished.

Becuzisaid511d ago

Every time a party member left for a period of time screamed future paid dlc. It was horrible.

Imagine Dagger and Steiner making the party go to sleep in Lindblum in FF9 disc 1 and then taking off to Alexandria by foot themselves, but then never playing their side of the adventure in disc 2 when they smuggle her through the South Gate in pickles, take the cable car and fight the Waltz, head to Treno and start the quest to find Supersoft. They just eventually reunite with the main party in the future without explanation of what went on in their adventure.

Or Sephiroth's backstory in the famous Kalm flashback being added as a dlc pack. Same goes for Vincent, Cid, or Yuffie for that matter.

Oh and anything to do with Jenova, the Ancients, Aerith, her mom and Gast, shoved into a 2 hour CG movie or 5 hour anime ministries that's considered required viewing for anything in the main game to make sense or have characters actually be interesting.

I enjoyed FF15 at the time, and finished it, but it's bright spots are marred by a bad development cycle and a worse marketing scheme.

CrimsonWing69511d ago

What’s sad is when I watched a vid on the entire story (that wasn’t properly told in the actual game)!it was really solid and could’ve been one of the most epic stories in any FF. I think a lot of the compilation and cross-media stuff really f*cked it all up.

gurp512d ago

FFXV was underrated in my opinion
I have played all of the final fantasy games, and I loved this game
turn based to me takes too long, I like active battle
the extra dlc and chapters should have been included in the original release, but it is nice that they fixed the game later

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion764d ago (Edited 764d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled764d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?
